    Hi Ansa, loves this vid, well done! I’ve actually chosen Rice Bran Oil to mix with my tallow as that cuts the cost as RBO is pretty cheap here in Australia.
    It makes a lovely hard bar but still moisturising and bubbly and I do add a little sugar too.
    Love all your research and that you share.
    Love from down under💜

      Hi Jo. Nice to hear from you. I quickly took a look at Rice Bran oil , it's not readily available in South Africa, and only being sold in small quantities as a carrier oil, at about R300 per liter, Olive oil goes for around R150 per liter at the moment. Rice ban looks like a nice oil to soap with, as long as you keep an eye on the total linoleic/linolenic acids in your end formulation. Thank you for sharing it with me, it made me realize that I tend to focus on what is available and affordable in my country where as there can be alternatives in other countries that might be even better options for you. Sharing my research is all my pleasure, I'm just paying it forward, I've had some great people that helped me be successful with stuff in my life.
      May you be blessed and have a great week.
      Ansa.

      Wow, yes that is an expensive oil for you , we are blessed that here in our major supermarkets it’s only $16 for 3 litres!!!
      You are so correct in saying that it can depend on which country you are in and we all have different oils available in our counties.
      Eagerly waiting for your next video.
      Have a lovely day Ansa 😊

      Groot plesier Riana. Ek kyk ook maar uit vir specials maar partykeer wonder ek watse gehalte sommige handelsname is. As jy dalk in Olyf produsent omgewing bly en direk kan aankoop moet jy vra vir bottom of the barrel olie, dit is die laaste olie wat bietjie trouble is en nie gebottwl kan word nie maar dit makeer niks, perfek vir seepmaak, dis gewoonkik baie goedkoper.

    Hi Ansa, I made the soap recipe, tallow, coconuf, palm and canola, SF5%, water:lye ratio, 2:1 and both oils and lye at 55°C. The whole loaf just crumbled!
    It was an ombre effect, the batter with TD thickened quicker than the batter with the green mica, do you think this is the reason it was so crumbly?
    I wish I could send you a photo.

      @user-tf7dv4dq2l Před měsícem

      Ansa, I have just watched your video on soap misbehaving, I wonder if the soap crumbled because I mixed the TD with water instead of oil? Are there two types of TD, one to be mixed with oil and one to be mixed with water?

    • @saponify6677
      @saponify6677  Před měsícem

      Hi Caren. Tallow, coconut and palm all produces a very hard bar of soap. Did you cut while still warm or already cooled off? I have to cut my high Tallow soap within 4 hours of pour while still warm, once it's cold it is too hard to cut without crumbling/splintering.
      Where you add your TD would not matter much regarding the textureof your soap, some TD brands do distribute better in water and others better in oil, but that only reduce the chances for clumps forming. TD does make soap heat up more and speeds up trace. If you use a lot, the soap can end up chalky. The question would be if the TD part and the mica part both ended up crumbly or just the TD part?

    • @saponify6677
      @saponify6677  Před měsícem

      Hi. There are two kinds that mix better in one or the other. But as explained in one of your other comments it is just easier to disperse it evenly when mixed. 🌿

    • @user-tf7dv4dq2l
      @user-tf7dv4dq2l Před měsícem

      @@saponify6677 Thsnk you Ansa, the soap is very chalky so I think it is as you suggested, too much TD and crumbly due to not cutting it soon enough.
      How do I register to join your Udemy course please?

    My problem is that people will not use soap made with palm oil even if it is responsibly sourced.

    • @saponify6677
      @saponify6677  Před 2 měsíci

      I use Tallow in 90% or more of my soap that I sell. There is definitely a market that is okay with Tallow. But I do hear you, there are customers that won't buy it and that is okay, unfortunately we can't solve all the problems for everyone. I have both vegan and non vegan options available and price them according to the cost of ingredients.
      Interestingly palm used to be a very big issue, but it seems like that with the increase of prices many people all around the world are compromising these days.

    organic sunflower oil has similar properties to olive oil.

    • @karijaneify

      Did you mean high oleic sunflower oil?

    • @saponify6677
      @saponify6677  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Normal sunflower oil Linoleic acid profile is 70% making it only suitable to use only in very very small amounts. Cold pressed High Oleic Sunflower oil, just like Avocado oil do have a similar fatty acid profile to Olive oil but is also more expensive than Olive oil, negating the purpose of finding something more cost effective. But it will be a good replacement for Olive oil if you want to do a 1:1 swop. 🌼
