- Judd Trump got off to the best possible start against Mitchell Mann in the Scottish Open on Tuesday when he rolled in a 147 maximum break, the eighth of his career. As they opined on commentary, "has anyone ever started a match like that?" Trump had a couple of hairy moments but for most of the break he looked in complete control as he stormed around the table in style.

Wow quality doesn't get any better. Never in doubt really for the 147 start to finish. What a shot pink to the black. When judd is on it. One of the best players to watch. Its effortless. He does things with the cue ball nobody else can do. Immense power and control.

Not really under appreciated because he isnt consistent enough. He has spells where he plays really good other times it’s mediocre at best.

@Sircxx Yes, I remember those. Wade was always on the receiving end of 9 darters, but he has had a few himself and is a great player. Taylor is still the best for me, even above MVG.

Another great performance by Judd. And Ronnie O'Sullivan can take Mitchel Mann as an example of how to behave in a classy and sporty manner after a maximum made by the opponent. Two maximums in season is quite remarkable.

That is why they are getting So many more right now..back in the day it was all about winning, not even going for 147s, It didn't even cross players minds

John Higgins got a147 in the first frame of a tournament,not just his match.

Kinda agree that maximums don't really mean that much anymore without the substantial prize money that used to accompany them. So much of the pressure has been eliminated.
It's also remarkable how many of these Maxi's are flying in the modern game. Are players evolving that much or are the pockets bigger/tables easier to play on etc?
maximuns are more common now - except by O'Sullivan who has failed to produce one in over 4 years
