  • The European Cooltorise project has allowed two outdoor space intervention activities to be carried out, with the aim of adapting them to the impact of heat and increasing their climate resilience.
Between 2023 and 2024, two interventions have been carried out in outer space. The first in the bookshop and community space Espai Llavors, and the second in the Cruyff Camp Jordi Alba, both in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
After a co-creation process that included the users of the two spaces and in which, together with the professionals of the project, they decided and planned the actions to adapt the space. A shade and several plants were installed to mitigate the impact of the sun and give freshness to the patio of Espai Llavors. For its part, in the Cruyff Camp Jordi Alba, a shade structure was installed next to the field where young people who practice sports, can do activities or shelter from the heat.
Cooltorise is a European project coordinator for the Polytechnic University of Madrid UPM and managed in Barcelona by ABD and Ecoserveis. Its objective is to reduce the impact of heat on the economy and the well-being of families in vulnerable situations.
It is funded by the European Commission ( Horizon 2020 Programme for research and innovation).
