What top coat/base coat do you use?
- I don't have a favorite topcoat, I just use whatever is laying around for swatches and the HK Girl from Glisten & Glow for manicures. My all time favorite base coat the CND Stickey. You can find that on Amazon.com or at Ulta stores.
Why do you take your picture and video swatches separately?
- Since my lighting, camera settings, and tripod all have to be adjusted when switching from pictures to video, its faster, and helps keep the lighting more consistent, if I batch process all the pictures at once and then all the videos at another time. It also helps me get a feel for how to work with the polish if I do my pictures before the video.
How long do you let your nail polish dry between coats?
- I wait until a coat is completely dry to the touch before adding another one. The time it takes for that to happen varies from polish to polish, but usually is around 3-5 minutes.
How long do swatch videos take you to make?
- To take pictures, film, edit, and upload, it takes between 8-12 hours depending on the size of the collection.
Why don't you paint EVERY SINGLE inch of your nail and ALL THE WAY UP TO THE CUTICLE EVERY SINGLE TIME?! DEAR GOD WHY?!
- I purposely avoid the sides of my nails and my cuticle line when I'm swatching because I do swatches one after the other after the other. Removing polishes that are applied too close to the skin can stain the skin around my nails and make the next swatch look bad. I do it to keep the video clips and pictures clean.
Why don't you use a peel-off base coat when you swatch? You should use the UNT one because Simplynailogical uses it and everyone should use everything she uses with no exceptions.
- I speed swatch. The polish is still wet or tacky by the time I remove it to apply the next one. Using a peel-off base coat would not only add an extra step to my routine, but would require me to wait for the polish to dry before it could be peeled off. This would end up taking more time and be less efficient for me.
Trust me, if Cristine suggests it, I try it...but everyone has different taste in products and everyone does things differently. Two people can have vastly different opinions on a product. It doesn't mean that one of them is wrong, it means that they're different people.

OMG for everyone throwing shade on this collection- it’s OBVIOUSLY a simple shade range for weddings where you don’t want crazy bold colors. Take your hate somewhere else.

It's definitely a staple for anyones nail polish collection - very useful. I got one by Orly that is my exact skin tone and having had it for 4 or 5 years, it has not gone thick, chunky or stringy. It's literally still perfect.
There are people hating over nail polish?
I actually like sheer polishes and these are pretty nice but I'm with you 💯% that it has to even out to work. Don't mind nail line but can't deal with streaks.

Been waiting for your swatches from this collection! You have the best swatches I've seen in YT. I love sheer polishes coz I can wear them all year round and it's perfect for corporate wear. My faves are the first two shades.🙂
Sometimes it's nice to switch to wearing a sheer color. Also, sheers are easy to slap on in a hurry!

Great video Jess! This is an interesting collection. I think the pink sheers are my favs too! I wore Nine Zero Lacquer Windstorm today, so I was thinking of you :) I got distracted several times today by the holo goodness! I only need to get Lightning and Hailstorm and I will have the entire Extreme weather collection (including Frost) :)

Soft Shades! I know I’m in the minority, but I LOVE these. They’re good for work settings and jelly sandwiches which I still do on occasion.

Are OPI polishes gel or regular?? Love their colours but prefer gel polish as it helps my natural nails stay strong and long

Surprised there's so much dislike for these in the comments. They all look like great formulas which means you could use them at one or two coats for negative space nail art, and I like the different tints which gives more options for said nail art. Also great for jelly sandwiches, some jellies are too streaky or build up too quickly to do that but these look perfect for it.

@@gray_7 yeah I think you're right, it's a more purple grey. Those Zoya jellies are phenomenal and got me totally hooked on jellies and now I want them in every color!

It’s the soft shades. LOL! Some of these will be so good.
I bought the grey shade exclusively as a Halloween color. Every single swatch I've seen has given the swatcher dead hands. Like they belong to a dead person 💀 so I'm doing a glam zombie look for Halloween this year with my dead, well manicured hands

I think they could have done a lot better. These shades don’t make an out standing appearance. They all look the same. Pretty disappointed
Doesn't everyone in the world already own multiples of these colors? Why would I spent $10 for something that is in no way special? I can get an indie for that price. Do better OPI. I have not bought a mainstream polish since Dec. and this will not make me break my streak. I do buy all the 9 Zeros, though, so excited for that! :)

Gorgeous. I love elegant, natural nails. Of course having pretty natural nails is a requirement. If you’ve got ugly discolored and thick ridged nails, this won’t look as good.
