  • Let's be honest, we all love the thesaurus! It helps us find those amazing new words we need in times of essay writing desperation - when we've repeated that ONE same word hundreds of times already! Here I discuss how to optimise your use of the thesaurus and avoid falling into a common pitfall of many students!!!
[UPDATE] Some of the resources in this video may no longer be available. I'd recommend you have a look at the resources below for newer editions :)

I feel I'm like the only one here qualified to pronounce the logo on your shirt. I'm a Norwegian/Icelandic studying Japanese. Suppose the vertical line with two perpendicular strokes is a Japanese character and not a lazy tremolo staff notation and you have ⅃ÐキØ.. or something. Not that I think it means much, but fun anyhow.

It is best to use your intuition more like understanding what is a vocabulary word, and how they are defined, antonyms and synonyms. They can all be mixed up.
The only best and smart option is using your intuition versus the thesaurus.
    www.wordhippo.com/
This is a good website when you need to find specific vocabulary words, trying to find another word or a verb for your narrative. When it comes to good creative writing you can use compelling, bold, and words that appeals to readers if it is a narrative. Like you are narrating your own story of the transition from childhood to adulthood.
