This is possibly the best invention since sliced bread. This will decrease the need for lifting and extend careers ten fold. Seeing this makes me happy.
Because all it takes is one screw up and your back is toast... having a good, working back is a good way to stay employed, and any way to lessen the number of tasks that risk injuring your back is a great thing... In my experience, Stryker products are simply great to use!
We had the Stryker rep at our Station last night, and I was on this thing and I'm sure I'm as big as you are and it holds the entire load 875lbs is its rating 750 the limit of the cot, and the weight of the cot. Our Order was put in last night for our unit......
The retail price from Stryker is $18 500 USD, installation not included, and the kit to upgrade the Power-Pro cot is $1 875 (not to mention the cost of a Power-Pro cot is around $10 000). So all in, this puppy with set you back somewhere in the neighborhood of $40 000 per ambulance....
The power up/down is awesome, however the power in/out I can see being problematic in cases of intubated patients. If there was a manual in/out and a power up/down, this would be a technology I would seriously consider. That would also likely decrease the cost somewhat...
Just think how much your service will pay out if you happen to drop a patient while loading. And don't tell me it hasn't happened; my crew had a near miss and we were nervous for months (waiting for letters from lawyers).
This makes getting in and out of the ambulance easier, but that thing will still be a bitch to carry up stairs with all that added weight. Still, after being a "patient" in my class, this would have been nice so they didn't bump the damned cot around so much...
@emr911 Not cheap, but how much will it save in injury costs and other costs associated with covering an injured employee while they are off from work for a few months or even a lifetime? $40,000 could easliy be justified if it saves just one person from a career ending back injury.

Wish someone would've thought of this years ago!! I might still be able to work on the trucks!! This is a good thing for helping to avert injuries!!!

The Cutting edge is an expensive place to live, but nice!

Our company needs to buy several of these. . . Im sure that all of these are only for type III's. . .
@eagle5473 Psh. By his logic we should still be using wood frames with canvas slings.

@eagle5473 Were closing in on 50k hits. Strykers Price tag $27-28k List for this system.......
maybe they can get the stretcher to drive as well.. LOL
@TNFlightNurse
We have 2 Power Cots I would not go back to a manual cot ever again......
give me.... RAMMING SPEED!!!!
I like it except they took out the bench seat
1) Why???
2) Does that mean that everyone else should be stuck with 1950s technology?
@emt89 I guess we should still be using a Ferno Model 30 too then
@emt89 i guess you dont care about your back then??
@eagle5473 god i dont care how much it is, im buying it!
Don't take the stretcher up the stairs; most times you can use a Stair Chair and then transfer to the stretcher on ground level.
It is also WAY over priced at $18,500 List....Stryker needs to sharpen their pencils
