Building Massive Infrastructure in Cities Skylines 2 is so much FUN!

- We're continuing the expansion of our sort of realistic North American-themed city Riverview and its metropolitan area, by opening up an all-new outside connection to the east, developing a new highway/interstate and connecting it all the way to Downtown! To enable this, we build a big cloverleaf interchange but as usual, make it a little weird and overly complex! We also establish several other interchanges/on and off ramps throughout the northeastern countryside of the Metropolitan area. Finally - we implement a new small highway running right next to downtown and the inner-city of Riverview, providing easy access to the southern parts of the city and the Port of Riverview to the north. Hope you enjoy!

the valley where you did the freeway, where the two small rivers become one, would be a suitable place for another smaller town
17:00 the jellyfish interchange
Will you add the map for download when you finish it? Could be good for get some ideas in our own cities. Your style is amazing !!
Can you add the save file for this on your patreon? It looks so good 🥲
Name suggestion for the Junction/Interchange: Spaghetti Junction - Back story; this is a crazy junction set in the city of Birmingham UK, It became famous for its unique, pasta-like appearance.
That crazy round about on/off ramp thing reminded me of an octopus or a Kraken. Also you definitely need to add some high schools for both sides of the river.
Squid interchange
i had exactly the same thought, it looks like a kraken
I thought I was just hungry, but I saw an octopus 😂 the Kraken sounds more exaggerated, so it fits better the American theme
I was gonna say the same thing: KRAKEN! :D
Squid-terchange!
Not gonna lie, but you should like to add a pit stop or gas station on the new highway... 'cause of people goin' in or out of the City of Riverview. For example, getting snacks or food on the road, going to the toilet and finally getting gas (GAS!!!) Thank U.
Its not gas. Gas is for example carbon dioxide. Its called petrol or diesel
@@botdestroyerpw I know, but I'm just saying that as a meme.
@@botdestroyerpwgas is also just short for gasoline which is why Americans call it that
@@botdestroyerpwgas is a liquid
@@botdestroyerpw as an american, we call it gas
I love this city set up. It reminds me a lot of the city im from Peoria, IL and East Peoria across the river. Theres even a man made island right next to a bridge but it sadly does not have a ferris wheel.
If he doesn't put in Metamora, it won't matter!
Agreed. I adore when European Cities Skylines CZcamsrs just lean into the weirdest American car centric infrastructure and make it kind of beautiful. This city is shaping up so nicely.
ive drove through peoria a few times and hated it
Interesting I’m in Bloomington, IL
I am in Decatur IL
It's look like 3D view of Google maps, that was incredible, i love your city
so glad i got to catch this video when it came out, the roundabout interchange at 16:46 is one connection away from being something you could call an octopus interchange, but septapus interchange would more accurately describe it in its current state
More like a Medusa interchange. If I saw that interchange IRL I would turn to asphalt
One of the lanes is a double lane, so it is definitely a some kind of octopus...
This city is easily my favorite in Cities 2 so far, loving each installment of this series
You should add a Metro system with how big the city is getting
Woah woah watch it pal, this is America after all. Can’t be letting those commies spend my hard earned tax dollars on 🤢 public transit.
I hate underground metro. wow you just build below everything, how exciting!
@@tajothy2692 the tube system is very effective in london, and the stations look nice
@@tajothy2692 mmmmk.
Notice how no one ever complains bout traffic in Tokyo. Almost like rail does wonders! @@randomwaffler
I would love to see some more actual bridges. There’s a lot of instances where roads or highways cross the river, but they’re all just plain roads. It would be cool to see them built up and fortified a little bit more, just to fit aesthetics.
A lot of water crossings in north America are just causeways like he built, unless it's going over a major water source like the Ohio, Mississippi, the Hudson, etc.
It's just cheaper.
@@joew974 yeah it's weird like over the river in my city they build just a straight bridge and then a cable stay suspension bridge just down the way so I guess it's just for looks
I've seen many cs youtubers, but you sir, have the nicest road layouting skills so far. No other cs2 city is that beautiful in the manner of style. You should do a master class with teaching all the city planning principles.
Imperatur is also great
@@frondibale CityPlannerPlays too, but whats the point here ^^. There are a few cool guys out there. But this fella here builds the sweetest cities of all youtubkind so far.
You need to add the bigger services buildings like hospital and police headquarters as it seems there is quality metric not just coverage
agreed, kinda looks weird too having just a couple clinics for a city of 40-50k people lol
@@barretoxiaroleplay2099it's hella expensive to have it
It’s somewhat situational but the hospital is more cost efficient at large scale, I think the cost per patient is lower@@CrossriderBankai23
im late, but i believe he hates adding city services 😂😂😂 like fuk me, not having a police headquarters when he gets -6 happiness from high crime is a wierd decision
The trees you planted at the start of the map was a great idea, it makes the whole map look really full and busy even in empty areas.
The squidersection is magnificent, and you should be proud!
Also, I love the idea that a major developer came into the area and wanted to make a mark, so worked with the city administration and the DOT to include paving the new waterfront highway in exchange for significant tax breaks and possibly even federal grants. Poor little sleepy Autumn Mills never saw it coming. It is especially perfect as one of the new sections of the highway is called Spring Highway!
Loving the expansion to chestnut and that you kept the woods 🤩
Can't wait to see what you're gonna do with the third highway. Looks like a nice stop for a small touristic village between the mountains and a gas station for a quick pitstop.
hmm, due to the lightening, I guess, that it is somewhat around noon. So while the map is in the northern hemisphere, the sun is in the south, that means, according to the shadows, that East Riverview is in the south, not in the East ;)
I love how CS2 enables you to grow cities in a more organic way over time... if everything works right.
This city is a perfect example of that.
It would be cool to see some data from the different map modes this game has just to see how your city is doing. Especially tourism would be fun to look at since Love Island probably attracts a ton of them. Oh yes also, did you ever actually make a train connection in and out of the city? I remember you not doing it when the train station got built and I was thinking wheter the tourists are actually coming by train
Infra: Builds beautiful highway system with a cute, compact cloverleaf interchange.
Also Infra: 16:51. Uh...uhm... [Insert confused blinking gif] 😂
What I love about CS2 is the graphic level. Sometimes I feel like Im watching some Google Maps footage with 3D assets. Especially the downtown.
A lot of people have been comparing your custom interchange to an octopus, but i actually thing is most resembles a plasma ball (You know those electric balls that would follow your fingers with bolts of electricity). So I think you should call it "Plasma Junction" or something like that.
I very much like your way of developing/extending/densifying the city and surrounding towns! I think you should consinder extending the tramway line of East Riverview at least to Sterling (and maybe to Barlow Ridge) as to provide public transport to people working there (Stadtbahn/light rail maybe). Keep up the good work and looking forward to watching the next episode!
You make the most natural, beautiful looking cities man, very inspired by you. Thanks for the videos.
Please make a "walk-through" video where you get attached and drive, through the entire city from the front of a car, bus or train line. It will be very interesting to look at the city from this perspective.
Ah man u have perfect timing with videos last Time i had supper and now i Just came back to home
Octopus Interchange seems fitting, not because of the number of roads, but because of its hectic and squiggly appearance- like octopi
My thought exactly 😅
IMHO this is the best cs2 creator out there, beautiful city, skillfully played, and the music choices my dude its just relaxing and inspiring to see you create
16:58 Oak-Topus View would be what I’d call it looks like a bunch to tentacles although there’s only 7 connections😂 plus there’s a bunch of Oaks close by
This city is frickin amazing. I wish i could make cities like this. My cities starts of awesome but quickly just turn into a big mess with roads all over the place and no place to put buildings.
Every single weird interchange you made literally exists in the Metro Vancouver area, including the 6 entrance round about highway on/off ramp but it's in a different lay out
really appreciate your music selection during the Time-lapses!
That weird junction should be called the Kraken Junction. I agree the road tools are hands down such a joy to use. Love your content it’s a joy to watch ❤👍👍👍👍
As a Dutch truckdriver myself, my opinon is that those interchanges are tight 😅. Like to see how you make it looks so easy to build. Bet it has some hours behind it.
Like someone already suggested, maybe a highway truckstop with gas station.
Love your work, keep it up
Love the series! U are by far my favourite Cities Skylines creator!
Oh man that one single family house right under the bridge between the highschool and East Riverview… 😂
Love the new progress, totaly agree with the other commets idea of a highway gas station, looking forward to the next episode 🙏🏻
Hey there! Absolutely loving the series so far, but wanted to mention that the new highway seems to be a little too steep near the outside connection. In the US, the maximum allowed grade is usually 6%, and even then, it takes commercial trucks quite a while to make their way down.
Never played this game nor will I but I love watching you and others create art within this game, I find it very relaxing while trying to sleep watching your videos.
Hi, would love see some oil industry in Riverview, maybe some urban drilling like in LA, also can you add a sea connection to give the port of Riverview a functionality, maybe some add some boat access around the Riverview dam, which could be named the 2 Pines Dam. Thanks for the Videos Cheers :)
I am almost certain that this map has no sea access.
You can add a sea connection, like the highway in the video no matter if the map starts with a sea connection. Tested this is in my own save 👍
I just found this video by scrolling through my recommendations and I have to say, this is the most beautiful City I have seen in CS2 ever!
Your play style is almost exactly how I would like to play the game. It gives me hope that this game can be salvaged at some point. Maybe by then I can get it for cheap.
16:55 dang, if it had one more ramp I'd call it an Octopus Interchange. The roundabout makes it look like an octopus to me!
Some of the best music I've ever heard on a Cities Skylines video. Love the attention to detail you convey. Excellent work! Keep it up!
Watching you build roads and highways is, quite frankly, hypnotic. I could watch for hours!
IKR? And his music taste is so good!
Best cities skylines CZcamsr 🔥
This is why you are my favorite cities builder. We spoke about our destain for love islands shape and YOU LISTENED. You are truly the best!!!
The level of intricacy of each small road and intersection is really impressive. Keep up with these amazing videos
I really love your videos. You are now my favourite CS2 CZcamsr and I’ve learned SO much! I am completely new to the Cities franchise and your videos helped me learn to create big beautiful cities! It’s been so much fun! Keep up the awesome work. I’m loving Riverview!
The location of the Ferris wheel is really perfect.
the new highway is a great addition, the roads are starting to look nice and messy and natural just like a real city would as it had been constantly rebuilt and redesigned over the years, really coming together nicely perhpas you could extend your highway through the city centre and clear away historic neighborhoods, americans love putting highways through their downtowns. so far i think this is the best series going on youtube to showcase the game, i can't really afford the game right now so i'm sticking with you to see all it can do, keep going.
A beautiful build, Mr. Mayor. One thing that seems to be missing from your suburbs or satellite settlements is proper public transportation links. Given the size of Chestnut and East Riverview, both towns should be connected to Downtown Riverview/Civic Center by suburban rail (as a stop connecting to the outskirts of the map as well). Please consider doing so.
CS1: "oh god, I hope I've build this small and efficient enough"
CS2: *"B U I L D I T B I G"*
Also, i've spot that north of the new highway there is some place on top of the mountain, how about a small sky resort/village there?
If I may, 'Riverview' feels like a stock name for such a diverse and complex city.
I’m still amazed at the lack of traffic in these cities compared to CS1
You are channeling your inner Robert Moses! I am rooting for the full modernist/USA dystopian experience.
I absolutely love your build technique! I have to watch your speed build in half speed to watch your interchange building which I love! Hi from Sydney Aust!
The unlikely interchanges over the railroad crossing onto the highway could be solved by lowering the track and creating a tunnel for the tracks to sit in. Possibly a reused old canal?
Please do some railroad bridges near the downtown/riverfront area where they cross the street. It would look pretty cool (like the Elevated Train) and also help with traffic so it doesn’t come to a complete standstill getting in and out of that area and waiting for the lights to change.
Not elevated but tunneled. Elevated railroads aren't built anymore because of crime rate and loss of land value. I think here we should see what modern cities are doing, which is turning old railways into long parks, specially when they go along rivers.
It really is the most beautiful CS2 city on youtube so far
It would be cool if you can expand east riverview to the east by putting a part of the highway in a tunnel and creating a park on top of it, that would make the growth of that part of town very nice and you could end up with a twin cities scenario.
"War of the world roundabout"
So nice!
An interesting name for the interchange would me "Squidward's turn" or "Squid lane interchange" as all the lanes that merge into the roundabout look like tentacles.
Cannot say enough how nice the cities on youtube look. And they actually function. Well done my friend.
I'm loving how you acknowledge how pretty things are looking and then decide is not realistic and. therefore, must be changed 🤣🤣
I would call the interchange oktopus. The roundabout looks like the body and the roads like the legs.
Very artistic work today. I love those highways. North America for sure.
I think if you add some areas with roads but nothing on them in neighborhoods could show the city's past economic situation during the early 2000s maybe? I think it would add character.
your realistic city skyline 2 videos are what is keeping me on youtube right now tbh, it's the only ones i wait and watch
It was great watching you build new motorways. The tools for road building look so much easier in Cities Skylines 2. Might I make a suggestion. In that old housing area close to the city next to the new main highway road, I really think the whole area needs to have higher density residential. An area that close to downtown with houses would just be way too expensive and I would've thought would be medium density residential at a minimum. Or perhaps the first entire mixed use suburb. An entire suburb totally rezoned to the new mixed use zoning would be cool. Also I noticed a railway line crossing over a couple of major streets close to the city. Which now with the current population and growth, I think it's time to put a couple of tunnels under those streets for the railway line.
that roudabout on and off ramp interchange should just be called "anxiety attack" cuz that's what would happen to me if I ever encountered something like that haha. love the videos. your builds are always so unique and realistic :)
Saw this video on my CZcams recommendations and couldn't help watching it. I soon had a idea you could work on at the tunnels at 6:40 on the video. You could build some kind of toll checkpoint or shopping stop area next to the tunnel entrances for example to make it look more interesting. It would probably require some terraforming but it would also allow a bit more realistic tunnel entrances (not as stretched out) than what they currently are.
I think that when East Riverview will be massively upzoned the football/soccer pitch near downtown should be upgraded into a stadium/arena for a club competing in the League.
If you ever expand to include smaller towns in further plots it'd be cool to see small industry towns made specifically to house the workers from that industry. Similar to like coal towns and such you'd see in the past. also a nuclear missile silo and a global nuclear crisis
Its fun watching the percentages slowly shift in the subscriber/viewer stats as you continue your reminder-campaign!
16:51 Idk either, but it looks like Medusa... so Medusa's Highway? sounds cool
I'm already happy when I make a city that doesn't have traffic problems and looks cool because it's not in a grid. And then you have this level of city building...
I would have loved to see you use that valley as a massive reservoir for a big hydro plant instead. It would really make a lot of energy when full
your videos are soo nice, I didn't even had the sense of time during those timelapses. just make a playlist out of it and a day would become an hour
The weird, interesting, pretty cool looking interchange should be named ‘The Octopus’ cause it looks like that!
Looks like a neuron... that roundabout interchange. Love it.
Wonderfully unique, fantastically designed and ultimately beutiful creation with an insane level of attention to detail, well done, I love it!
16:50 I think 'The Medusa' roundabout would be appropriate! 🐍
16:53 This is an eldritch horror. And anyone should have at least one in his/her city ^^'
Named it: The eldritch exit.
16:52 I suggest name that interchange as (Octo Interchange) , cause that looks like an octopus 🐙
Name that odd Interchange: Octopus Interchange ❤😂
I really enjoyed the Drum 'n Bass during the time-lapses. ✌
It is probably good to place a train station in East Riverview👍
Not only do you build fantastic cities, you also have great taste in music! Love watching the speed build sections and cinimatics for both the visual and audio.
Ah! There you are. Now I understand how American architects build cities!
Name it the "Kraken Interchange" thats what it actually looks like, maybe even add 8 arms to it 🙂
Easily my favorite YT city I'm following. Thanks for your uploads!
Building roads/Interchanges is my favorite part of the game lol! Love this series.
the bald eagle every time you mention "North American realism" cracks me up. City is looking nice and sprawling:D
That messy interchange there. Change the highway ramps to a trumpet interchange so it can be named Trumptabout.
This city is awesome! Building and managing a big city is challenging enough - never mind making it look this good!
The massive towers and riverside parkway are classic American infrastructure planning in cities like NYC so it's very fitting for a NA inspired city. The next part would be building new suburban tract housing along the highway just off a highway exit, can't leave that potential capacity to waste.
I am kinda missing some connection between Chestnut and River´s end via underpass/overpass. Love the series btw
City is shaping up beautifully, maybe you should add a lightrail or a metro system soon!
Your turning circle interchange is cool and should be called "The Octopus".
i think Cthulhu is a good name for the strange roundabout ramp cause thats what it reminds me of like the central roundabout (head) and all the varying highways jutting outwards (tentacles)
In Ontario we have these road side stops called on routes it would be really cool to see you incorporated something like it on to your highway
Name suggestion for the Junction/Interchange: Spaghetti Junction - Back story; this is a crazy junction set in the city of Birmingham UK, It became famous for its unique, pasta-like appearance.
I'm new to cs but am 100% confident in saying this guy is my favorite CZcamsr for cs. He doesn't mess around with doing stupid crap (you know what i mean) and makes realistic/ functioning cities, love it! keep up the work.
