It's not a different approach than any other game with good housing, but the fact that ArenaNet of all studios managed to do this is just mindblowing to me. It's SO clear that SO much love went into this.
Yes, I don't care much for housing in games as I had it in RuneScape and ultimately u just never go there anymore (except for in OSRS I guess) but this looks sick.
You could already do so in guild halls (and mount racing scaffolding!), but with the new option to scale items up and down, there are myriad of possibilities, instead of the basic rafts.

Have to admit when the devs of this game decide to do something, they do it so much better than other MMO’s. I remember seeing stuff about the mount system in this game and how it’s the best of any MMO. Now seeing this alt parking thing with housing, I’m thinking why did the devs in my game not do this. Arena Net you’ve earned yourself a new player!
Yes, this looks aweseom! I can finally make an actual legendary armory I can show off. Now they only need to add a bookshelf for my Snargle Goldclaw collection and it will be perfect.
@@Dr.Death8520i totally agree. Half of my inventory slots and is filled with books I want to keep from various achieves (like from building my Legys). A personal library is the only thing that could make this even better, but i think they might add it to this system very soon if it is not already there. Or maybe you need to do an achieve for this as well.. You could even have like folders with your receipes. Anyways, I definatly support the idea if something of this coming!!

People excepted small plot with a place for home and we got huge bay area with a massive amount of features. ANet knows what "Gameplay first" means. First mounts and now this.
@@Gurukay Yeah, I got the infinite volatile tools, so I'll lose that. But then again, if it's one of those days where you have to rush, or just feel too lazy, it's nice to have that option.
@@obsidianchilly There was a "Manage Glyph" option when he used the logging box at 2:40. So my guess is you won't loose any volatile magic or other glyph bonuses, as long as you have them unlocked somehow.
My only wish was that we could pick WHERE in Tyria our Homestead was located, even if it was from a selection of different plots throughout Tyria: e.g., Kryta, Maguuma Jungle, Shiverpeaks, Ascalon, Elona, Cantha, etc.
@@ravenramsey3115 I think they may add different locations in the gem store, not in future expansions, but they might do both. I'm pretty sure that this won't be the only homestead location, and we will have alternative choices some time in the future.
Looks amazing so far. The only thing I've not seen yet which I think would be cool would be different exterior architecture, Canthan house, Ascalonian house etc. I have a feeling these cosmetic reskins might be put in the gemstore. Or if they were able to add new homestead areas to other places of the game would be a nice touch too. I think this is more far fetched but one can hope.

This is very exciting, I can't imagine how many hours I will be spending in my own homestead for decorations! And the auto collect all resources is gonna save plenty of our time in future, I hope the friends in my party can do that as well when they are in my homestead.
Wow, wow, wow. Except for teraforming, which I know is impossible with the current engine, they really included EVERYTHING, I could think of. I couldn't be happier. Huge respect for anet and also great video!
@@XOCOLACh yes, I think that could be definitely be possible! What I had in mind when I said teraforming was digging a hole to create a lake and rivers and also Crete mountain. But given that you can create a lighthouse I can totally see you creating jumping puzzles!
@@AATproducer Yes! I was aware it was what you meant XD, hence I said 'pseudo' terraforming! Genshin players used this to create levels at their home instance. But yes it's still hard to make a lake, or to dig down, currently just viable to build upwards (or maybe they can stack the main level instead and leaving gaps for pond/pool items then concealing them to make a believable lake/pond ;-;) Either way, looking forward for ANet to introduce even more features!
Was legit having a chat with ppl about this an hour ago doing dragon bash. Nobody knew an answer and I'm glad that this gives one. Especially if the guild decorations work in it too! Hopefully you can later change where the house is in a future expansion. I like thw wilds but I do miss my Rata home at times.

Better than I thought it was going to be, so that is a good sign for the Janthir Wilds expansion. That plus the new spear animations for every class, or profession, plus the beautiful new maps, is enough for me to purchase the expansion. Looking forward to Aug. 20th, and hoping that the lore and story will not disappoint.
This looks absolutely amazing- so versatile and player friendly! I just really hope the furniture also have color channels, that'd truly be the icing on top!
@@OleksandrProkhorovskyi We don't know if that's the case yet, they could reveal it next week. But yeah, not being able to visit random houses, like you could in Wildstar for example, would be weird, part of the appeal of player housing is creating cool stuff that others can see.
@@dango4ever719 I mean, what in this is unique? It's like they just copy pasted Genshin Impact's Serenitea Pot with some minor adjustments. I was excited for this kind of customized building when Halo 3 came out with forge, but that was almost 20 years ago.
I'm so impressed by this! Anet did such an amazing job on mounts that are better than any other game -- now they're exceeding expectations with player housing! Another reason why Guild Wars 2 if my favourite game. 😍
this feature is easily 1000s of hours of gameplay, that can always be recreated and done over n over....truely endless endgame n showoff achievement n collections
Absolutely hyped for this! Sceptical of the build limit as it'll fill up quick with small decorations / independent buildings, hoping we'd be able to increase size with gems or something at some point.
I hope the overhaul of the editing system carries over to guild halls, because if it does the beetle tracks and jumping puzzles are gonna become even more insane. I'm so hyped
oh my god, this passed EVERY hope I had. I may have set the bar low, yes, but I worried hoping for too much. This blew all of it out of the water, me and my mates are all going nuts.
I didn't expect that player housing will be thought out to this extend. I knew that ArenaNet will deliver. But mount stables, pier and placing in alt characters are a cherry on top. Not to mention that we can allow our friends to decorate our homestead with us.
I'm really hoping they add some of the decorations from old content, like from dungeons & fractals, plenty of good assets within those they could make into furniture, so i can make an Asuran house

Oh! So many delightful memories from old Star Wars Galaxy comes to my mind right now, but now made it greater and better! Housing can be an addictive meta-game for many. Old SOE's CMs encouraged it, making different contests about it showcasing the most beautiful and creative community member's creations. It's a pleasant, beautiful preview! Thanks Arenanet
That's the perfect number, as I currently have 27 characters (one for each elite spec in the game). It would be great if we could interact with them, and script our own 2 or 3 different responses, limited to a couple sentences.
it was one of my biggest expectations for future content in guild wars (in addition to an archer spellcaster :p), I have at least one that sees the day, big bravo for this incredible and big novelty! :)

If you can create structures from individual parts, then it sounds like you can make your own jumping puzzles

I'm thinking they might be able to makeshift some items/feature to (pseudo) terraform! Like maybe a stone set or grass blocks? Crossing my fingers!!
