Pure is still in development. It's at 0.115 now. The skybox blows sol out of the water. For racing, it doesn't matter what you use. If you want to cruise on shutoku or la canyons the pure skybox has amazing clouds. Especially for sunsets and sunrise. It's crazy how good it looks. Unfortunately, mist, haze, fog, and snow is still nonexistent in pure.
0.148 now, it really is incredible
Pure was buggy for me. inside and outside lights on every car were way to bright even when I messed with the brightness settings and turned the brightness levels down
The skybox looks to unrealistic for me, tbh. It looks just like a painting.
@@dr.fischie1801 i agree, sol's volumetric clouds look way better than pures stupid static skyboxes
We all have different tastes, and this video realy proves this point in the comment section. With this said, I think this is one of the greatest advantages of playing on PC. We have the option to chose what fits out tastes better for each individual player. It's just amazing.

The new Pure 0.115 looks way different and got alot better, me personaly prefer pure.
I have always been using SOL since it first came out. To me, SOL still looks good for effects - like MIST, Sand, etc. I will stick with SOL until I think it is any better. Like another person said here, we are too busy racing to worry about what the clouds and most weather is doing.
You need to show some of these effects in "cockpit view" with the windshield wipers going. Outside the car views, most look the same.
"Sol" is better realistic , especially in mist, fog , rain ..and clouds .. everytime in fact !

Well maybe Pure might enhance what the clouds do, but when racing as the videos show, I would not be worried about what the clouds are doing - only racing. I only use SOL and enjoy it very much. I have not been on my racing computer for a while, so PURE is new to me and dont know if it is free to use or have to pay for it. Only thing I do know so far is that it is created by Peter.
Watching this video the cars are going so fast it is hard to notice the differences between SOL and PURE. Like others, I would stick with SOL.

Love Pure lighting compared to Sol but yeah it’s either breaking a number of weather effects like mist, haze, sand, snow which at least from this video I pretty much couldn’t tell the difference between or the settings on those weather effects need turning up to achieve a similar weather look to Sol. Fog is as a good as completely broken in Pure, ran a practice session in fog at Zandvoort the other night without realising it was like this in Pure and it was almost pointless to be out on track which even knowing well was nearly impossible to put in consecutive clean laps.
I agree Lighting in pure looks much more natural, sol is quiet dark in comparison
I find Pure's fog effect much more accurate to what we call fog here locally (island, LOTS of fog (thick) on the regular), Sol's is more of a 'wispy low-cloud'
It would be nice if you could adjust the density of the fog (i.e view-distance)

IMO Pure looks cooler but in the end I'd use regular Sol since Pure is too dark to be actually playable
is it just me or pure breaks the lighting in shutoko? im not sure since when i use sol the street lights glow and emit light while in pure it only glows but doesnt emit light

When I am racing I can tell you 2 things about weather. I can tell you when it is raining. I can tell you when the sun is in my eyes. Otherwise I am way too busy to look at clouds. I could not tell you the shape of any cloud ever in years of racing.
pure still has so much catching up to do, the car is to dark in most cases with pure and the headlights, if sol had most of pure skys that would be spot on except for heavy thunderstorm n 1 or 2 others. and the exposure needs turning down a little on sol in this case
You can literally turn down the exposure yourself with sol
@@redtail1. theres been alot of updates since i wrote this message, but this was the case back then. Im not sure about now. But the idea is to not need to have to change settings like that. Im not picking at sol creators, im greatful for all these free mods and there time they to to creating all this :)

Pure looks better but the light balance on sol kept me using it instead. Headlights feel way to dim playing pure

what about performance ? is it the same for both sol and pure... I mean it would have more interesting to analyze the performance of both SOL an Pure.
Pure is great... but not so much on the cockpit so dark lol.
when you choose heavy rain in pure your game looks darker.my game is much brighter and blue and in my game trees look blurry when there is a wind.And my sol config is not saved. i need to do the settings every single game
Why is sol so dark. I baned it from my PC as it was impossible to read the in car instruments with sol + CSP. al nearly black. also the meter marks in front of the corner are unreadyble with sol+CSP. Same here, Soll ultra dark.

Yeah its quite something - devs said (dynamic) weather/day+night cycles weren't feasible - community proves them wrong.... lol

SOL because it gives the game more soul. The vibrancy of the colors immerses you so much more. Have you ever ridden through SRP in the evening. No lie i though i could feel the sun in my face (VR user)... Haven't tried Pure yet though.
What filter do you use for VR? I use SOL and vr and am looking for something to improve the sun glare in car

try the new pure (0.115 with the high res skybox) change the clouds from 3d to the skybox in pure config. change weather to sunset. you will crap your pants. you will not go back to sol. lol

Do clouds change shape in Pure? Mine doesn't seem to.
Pure uses Sol's default cloud rendering method, so if you're using that then there'll be no difference. Personally I prefer the 2d clouds, which aren't available in Pure right now.

If you got a NASA pc, SOL with quality at 200% is the best you can get I think

Rain is a part of CSP, not Sol. Look up "Assetto Corsa rain tutorial" on CZcams

I can't speak for the newer versions of Pure (0.115), but there was a slight performance hit at times with Pure 0.75. I'd expect the performance to better now, especially with skydomes.

You can't, I was changing the weather during the gameplay. Every car in this vid was driven by AI.

That's the filter on which I found best visuals for both Sol and Pure. What would be the point of comparing them with 2 different ppfilters?
@@Amatertu I feel like it'd be better to use the default ppfilters that come with each mod, the extra effects makes the comparison a bit off
@@rdablock personally I don't know a single person that uses the default Sol filter. The Pure one is pretty popular since there still aren't too many alternatives. Keep in mind that this isn't a video titled "that's how your game will look", but a comparison. Showing the differences in weather, lighting etc. Barely anyone uses the default settings, not just in terms of filteres but also in terms of Sol and Pure configs. Same with CSP, I don't know a single person that hasn't tweaked something in there for their own liking. Showcasing CSP in a video at it's default state wouldn't do it justice. I feel the same way about Sol and Pure.
@@rdablock Well, it's a much more "apples to apples" (scientific) comparison IMO if you are limiting//eliminating variables and things that would change outcome/pronounce difference(s) further.
Pure handles exposure way more realistic than Sol. I think pure ppfilter are better than NFS 2015 PPFilter, but it is matter of taste i guess.

So you'd like to see the comparison of 2 weather scripts from the first person camera view, which blocks 60% of the screen? (the sky especially). Rain doesn't have anything to do with Sol or Pure, RainFX is a part of CSP.
