It's incredible just how ahead of time those early to mid 90's Memphis rappers were. The production quality might have been demo/garage quality, but the actual beats and how they're constructed, the flows of the rappers and repeated chorus/chants that appear in many tracks (for example Sewed Up, or Gangsta Pat's song Tear tha Club Up) was 15 years before that style of "trap" hip hop was in popularity.
call it inspiration
@COSMO Makes sense. That kind of hip hop is very DIY, low-quality and very intense/extreme. You could. in a way, describe it as being hip hops equivalent of black metal.
@COSMO Indeed. If you want a modern example of this style, check out some Cursed (spelled CVRSXD) or early Ramirez (RVMIRXZ). This style of old Memphis low-fi hip hop is still very much alive, but it's mostly being done in Florida.

25 Years Later & Still Bumping Hard💯💯 '96 CLASSIC!!! SOUTHERN SHIT IN YA EAR!!!
I was born and raised in Cleveland and grew up on Bone but I've always liked Tommy too. Grew up on three 6 too
I love Cleveland!
Haha just happened to see your face in the comments Marko, I’m a fan and subscriber of yours, love your content btw. But grew up west of Cleveland, Sandusky area, had all the underground Bone, Mo thug tapes, everybody had a cousin or some relation to the Bone family back then in that area. But worked with a guy from Tennessee who introduced me to the Memphis underground back in the mid 90s, I never heard anything like it before.

This is a real underrated ultra classic from the great Tommy Wright III from Memphis.
underrated? Its $1700 on ebay :D
This is why I love youtube IT WILL GIVE YOU A HIDDEN GEM EVERY NOW AND THEN
Bump this album on a daily at work along wit everyone inspired by it & every one else
Mr. Wright III looks, dresses and sings like he's from our generation, somehow managed to get thrown back in time having to survive the horror again for the second time, already have come to terms with his prediction, rocking it for real. I am in love with his music - it feels right at home here in the post 2020s!
I can see that. Neat angle
I think I still got this CD floatn around my house somewhere
low-key masterpiece
High key

That low key shit is overused dude
Greatest gangster rap album of all time for me
Mayne flow was ahead of his time of rap frfr Shoutout Tommy
The most clever rapper in Memphis. He could be the popular rapper in the world. With his skills.
Some of these verses are legendary, project pimp's too.
I AM FROM MEMPHIS BORN AND RAISED BUT IM JUST NOW FINDING OUT ABOUT THIS MAN
I aint live in the south but damn, hows that?
How old r U 10????
Thank you for putting the tracks in the description
Thank you for uploading this and adding the time stamps, homie
You know it's a top tier era of rap when curls are still in play - Yahh boy!🤜💥🤛🏽 💣💥🔥🔥
Damn, lemme find out Outcast was biting your flow
Been looking for Tommy Wright music for the longest thanks for the upload! Shit go hard Ole skool Memphis gangsta shit!
@tommywright3rd im buying 3 of these CDs today. Anytime you can have a album and can listen to 98% of the tracks on the album and jam to all of them, that's a good fucking album. That's been the case with nearly all of the Memphis rappers of the old school days. Those Memphis kids that's grabbing the mic and doing their thing today, are the last hope for real music. Awesome awesome music TM3 and im a proud fan.
SO ahead of its time, unbelievable that this is so old
magnificent flow and beat, I'm glad this exists.
I like Tommy’s hair
Boys hair stay wet wet #drippy
I wish this albulm was more popular
this is def a top 5 best Memphis mixtape

The Best Tommy wright iii album eeriey cold sound and like gangsta party memphis music
Angry Souls by Playa Fly I still have this album in CD case in all
SlimmCutta how much do you want?
Like my previous self from 2 months ago -- my current self is also curious as to your desired price for said album, cd inside the case and all?
Half these beats sound like they were made on a old school Nintendo console 😂 Sounds dope tho 🔊
Guaranteed it was recorded on an anolog 4 track machine
you have a point. I know it's a joke but they used midi i think. Aldo yeah lofi bc they couldn't afford better equipment. They are the real underground legends. Also I'll find a Triple six track, it uses a midi sample that sounds suspiciously from a game. Peace
where da bud at by Triple six. not gonna link cos CZcams will delete my comment, smh 😤... Also I'll try to find some more.
@@onesyphorus lmaoo bruhh that song i just listend to i swear on my life i played a game on nintendo 64 and had same kinda sound they just used 😂
@@samyoyoyo555 just the tip of the iceberg lol. There's loads of 90s Southern Hip Hop w/midi and they share similarities with nintendo lol. I'll try and find more. Deadly Verses by Gangsta pat is dope. Also Zelda vibes from Drive By by none other than Tommy himself!
Frm CA and 90s so I lived the west coast gangsta rap but this right here....is 🔥🔥🔥.
Great sound quality
runescape music
lol
czcams.com/video/O7vKZRG0k9s/video.html runescape's sample
@Kurt ohneGurt he was obv just saying it sounds like runescapes music lol
solid album
raps about his real life unlike rappers, trappers these days
Trap is a caracature of shit people really go through marketed to white people since 2010

Honestly heavy start to where lo-fi subgenre of rap beats came from other than some older folk from the 70s and some folk from 2000s
