This. MAN. Spent literal YEARS planning this game, putting clues into his previous games. HOW. HOW DOES ONE DO THAT. Absolutely incredible. I still have so many questions though.
By patching his previous games. He didn’t put arg stuff in games over the years waiting for his magnum opus. Just before inscryption was released, the rest of the games were updated/patched
He could also just insert random codes into games and then use those for Inscrypion. Not everything was clearly related to inscryption.

Maybe Daniel Mullins is actually a cover name for PO-3 and he released it to the world onto Steam.
And the game he ended up releasing to the world was a heap of files that were built and throwing them together before the game was deleted, that’s why Lukes files are inside the game and he doesn’t remember succeeding because he’s just a piece of copied file of the PO-3 who was deleted.

If I remember correctly, the last ARG mat covered couldn’t get completed. Even the creator said they probably made their puzzles too convoluted and would be impossible to solve.

This game, in my opinion, has broken the standard of gaming in a way I haven't seen since Undertale. There's so many layers and hidden bits with so much care and precision put into them all to tell a (really cool) story and yet still stay a really fun game to just play casually. The way this whole story ended shows just how invested the developers were, and it is undoubtedly a piece of art, the most modern way of story telling with the greatest suspens possible

Something is off. You’ve seeming skipped over the thing that started ALL OF THIS. Remember how Luke finds the disk? Through a set of coordinates in a trading card pack. Who put that there? Who left this vital link to the old data in a consumer product? Answer me, Matpat!
Pay attention.
We know Luke got the cards from Kaycee's mom(?). What I don't understand is why she left coordinates to it in the first place if she went to the trouble of burying it deep in the woods somewhere.
If we’re gonna theorize, perhaps it was to keep track of where she buried it for herself just in case? Although it is interesting how the physical card game ties in to the overall narrative.

She couldn't keep it somewhere conventional incase someone wanted to take it, and the coordinates in the card pack was probably a discreet way to let someone know where the disk is. Who exactly it's for is unknown, but it could also just be so that someone could find the disk after her death.

You know what makes this theory work even better?
The fact that the game blew up so much, getting so popular that if you have at least one gaming channel in which you are subscribed that covers horror games you have seen at least one of them play inscryption!
So not only did P03 get the last laugh, he made himself heard across the internet of major part of the world, and the joke is not only on Leshy and scribes, but more so on Gametuna.
Incredible how the real world can enrich the lore for the game!
Played this on a PS5 and after beating it and watching this I'm pretty much shocked at how much deeper this went. Absolutely loved the game and love this channel for showing folks like me who would've never figured this stuff out what it all means
Food for thought, I would just like to remind everyone that the game were playing is not actually inscryption. Inscryption was deleted, we saw it happen. What we are playing is a gamified version of Luke Carder’s footage, which is likely what P03 actually sent into the internet after everything else was erased. It was the only piece of inscryption that survived because it wasn’t part of the official game.

Daniel Mullins honestly to me seems like he’s literally playing 5 dimensional chess with his games lore considering all of these circumstances had to have happened for this games lore to even be able remotely considered complete

Depending on where the games are hosted, it's entirely possible that he's able to make updates and "patches" to the games to put in secret codes Alternatively, he can have been hiding clues in his games for years, with most of them being unrelated ciphers, so that he can plug them in as he sees fit. After all, the other games only contain codes, not content.

The fact that things just ended with a big ol comeback to the beginning [or more of later in game action] is freaking insane! I loved watching this lil 3 video series and made me so happy to see someone cover and look into the game.
What still baffles me is that Pony island and inscryption overall received far more coverage by popular youtubers than The Hex did, even if (as Matpat mentioned here) The hex has his own secrets, mysteries and darker twists, that may even help contextualize GameFuna some more. Daniel Mullins played a very long game of worldbuilding, it's really impressive to see it all unravelled.

One thing you missed is that Amanda from GameFuna is not actually an employee, it’s an entity from a previous Daniel Mullin’s game that is able to traverse games and real life. When Amanda kills Luke, the video corrupts a bit and you can see their actual form.

There is always a possibility that a lot of the "future-proofed" clues might have actually been recent additions that were hidden so that a new ARG can work off of them.

This game is an absolute masterpiece, I did NOT expect this game to be this incredibly awesome.
I like how Matt thought Kaycee gave Leshy the Old_Data and all that,
Literally: The Angler said he found some Old_Fish in the water.
The Old_Data is in the sea and any who take control have someone who fishes it out in the first place.
He even admitted that he found it!
I guess from a literal stand point it makes sense,
The game “NEW_DATA” was built on TOP of the OLD_DATA, even the bone lord mentions a immeasurable sea in his introduction. (A bit of a stretch but still thematically fits considering he is directly related to it, wether being a piece of the OLD_DATA gained sentience or something else completely)

Yes! Matt completely missed this, it seems. There are also strange glitches that happen in real life whenever Amanda/Sado is around.
I totally thought this was going to be brought up, since he even showed some of The Hex footage involving Sado. I haven’t played that one though, so I don’t have a clue what it means, but it’s clearly important.
I suspect that this ARG is far from solved at the moment.
I'm honestly surprised Matt hasn't touched on The Hex before. I hope while Kacy's Mod is still in Beta they at least consider doing a vid for The Hex because there are definitely threads that connect it to Inscryption and Pony Island (He even mentions in this video it's worth it's own video.) I agree with Amy, that there is more to be solved in this respect.

@WizeXcalibur Its a shared connected universe between the games and specifically the real world around the games in the game (if that makes any sense). Think of Pony Island as part 1, The Hex as part 2, and Inscription as part 3

We all thank everyone for their hard work in finding these secrets, letting us popcorn eaters enjoy the entertainment of a whole new world in videogames.
Lesson learned: If this guy makes something that just seems like a nice little short experience… be sure that, no matter how insignificant it may seem, it contains secrets which will not be noticed until years from now and may even turn into a much bigger game within those years
To be fair the demo was updated after inscryption was released (maybe some of his other games as well?) Does not make it any less awesome.
I feel like that’s the best part of Daniel’s games. There’s a massive ARG, sure, but Inscryption stands on its own as a solid game without any secret-finding.

Great video, but I have a question, will there be a "The Hex" theory, honestly, The Hex ties a lot of loose ends to Inscryption's plot, but it also starts asking more questions and I think it's absolutely worth a video.

The dlc "kaycee's mod" turns act 1 into a roguelike card game, and Daniel recently posted a job for a Senior Developer to continue developing Inscryption, so hopefully we will get more!

Not that unlikely, given that it may or may not be connected to pony island, a game made by the devil himself. Of course, the devil could also be just a metaphor, since the merchant was explaining their clues through a tarot deck

@@LanieMae There's a chance its referring to the actual devil. Satan played a major role in Pony Island, and the CEO of gamefuna is Lou Natas. Lou is short for lucifer and natas backwards is satan.
