Same. More of an atmosphere guy but this one looks like the best of both worlds.
No spoilers: I was able to watch it early in theaters this evening. I have a few nitpicks but thats just cause only a few films are truly perfect. The vision is there, the camera work is there, the gore is there if you are into that. More impressed with the idea, the execution of it and the dialed down bare bones story: 8.6/10 score for me.

But this is not what Maniac was. The trailer, that over the shoulder 3rd person video game view, that's basically "the whole" movie... and not deranged talking to one's self, as u can see, this guy is very Jason VI

Maniac was a serial killer film (psychological thriller) doing that, this is a slasher film with a group and a killer doing that. Big difference.

The remake of Maniac is entirely through the eyes of the killer, start to finish. But I am looking forward to seeing this.

This trailer scared the piss outta me, and I either don't scare easily or don't find too scary stuff that "everyone" finds scary... I'm also scared by things NO ONE finds scary lol, and while I don't like slow burns, this, as you're describing it, sounds like for ME, it'll be anything BUT slow
