    Ooooh ooooh ! Excited for this one. Our demo Super Meteor is available from tomorrow and I am hoping to get over there for a ride on it this week or next week at the latest.
    I'll watch this now and decide whether or not it is going to be worth the effort 😂

      @CornishMotorcycleDiaries  Před rokem +1

      I think you'll find it worthwhile. From what I can see, you are currently restricted to local roads and long distances are a challenge, the Super Meteor removes that restriction.

      @@CornishMotorcycleDiaries I think I'd rather have your Moto Guzzi 🤗
      Yes, you're right, but riding fast roads and doing big trips is not really something I often have to do. I can't do long trips because I have to get back home to Ruby within a few hours, so a 650 is most likely overkill for 99% of the riding I do. Which is why I ended up with a 350 in the first place. A 350 is not my dream bike but in reality it is all of the bike I need to enjoy my motorcycling hobby and I struggle to justify having more bike than I actually NEED 🤔
      I thought this was a very entertaining and thorough review. I'll probably just blast through mine sharpish like because there are plenty of videos out there which go into more detail. I think my video will mainly be about ME, ME, ME as it should be 😂😇
      No, what I mean by that is, like you, I am a potential customer for this bike and I will just let people know how I feel about it during and after the ride. I suspect that the price and weight of the thing will ultimately be a stumbling block but I am going into it with as open a mind as possible !
      Oh, I nearly forgot ! I haven't seen it anywhere else but on one of the Indian reviews they did say that the touring version not only has the screen, the touring seat and the backrest but also different bars which come in more towards the rider to make the bars less of a stretch and put the rider into more of an upright cruising position. For that reason I really hope to sit on one of the Celestials someday to see if that is indeed the case because one of the more common criticisms of the Super Meteor is that in the more basic versions the bars are a bit of a stretch and you are forced into a slightly hunched forward riding position.
      Cheers CMD, good job, shame it didn't convince you 👍🏻

    Like the contrast between you and the lofty biker. You at 5’4 and him at 6’5” you should do a little & large edition on reviews. Especially both of you from darn the south west. Enjoyed your observations and self deprivation, made me smile 😊

    Good straight forward impression on the bike. If a bike doesn’t fit it doesn’t fit. Nothing wrong with the bike per we it’s just not a good match. Here in the states it’s being billed straight up as a challenger to the Vulcan S with more style points. You mentioned the air cooled Sportster, there are still 2022s available here as production didn’t end till October. Not sure how the Sportster S and Nightster are selling. The more I see of the Super Meteor the more I think of it as just a nice comfortable bike. Which is just fine - of it fits you!

    On the self cancel indicator point, most older riders never had them and so are use to manually turning em on and off, the expectations that an enfield would have such a thing, given their basic no frills nature is probably why people were surprised with your comments on it.

      It's a lot of money for an upgrade really.
      I'd only be interested in the Celestial touring versions personally and they will be 8000 EUR on the road. Even if I traded in one of my 350s, I would still have to pay 4000-5000 EUR ON TOP to get into a Super Meteor Celestial. That's what I paid for my Meteor in the first place and this would have to be one heck of a bike to be worth TWO Meteor 350s IMO.
      I will test one and see but it is a lot of money for an upgrade. I think it only makes sense if you need to do a lot of riding on fast roads and want to do longer trips with a bit more headroom and in a more relaxed fashion. Neither of those are my use case, so a 350 is still just about all I need to be happy 🙂
      Cheers Chad,

    At last. Someone with the same dimensions as me! You will have more upper body strength but your reviews will be very useful.
    This bike looks like a heavy lump and doesn't do anything for me looks wise. Just being honest.
    So that's two Cornish people I know. Better not be becoming a habit. Apart from having your cream teas upside down, I suppose you're quite likeable.

      Be careful with that #Crean stuff!... lol Bike is definitely on the heavy side, but very stable at low speeds I found. I'll have a word with the Tamar Crossing Boys to make sure they don't let people through with strange ideas about Cream Teas, we don't want any of that Devon nonsense around 'ere mi 'Ansome.

    Interesting first impressions ride and I can definitely identify with some of your frustrations about height at 5'7" with a 29" inside leg I share many of the same issues with a lot of modern bikes. I really wanted to love this bike when I first heard they were releasing it and it's true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder but, for me, this bike seems to have a bit of an identity crisis in the looks department. The tank, mudguards, and exhaust seem to ape the heavy look of the old style cruisers of the 50's/60's Harleys but then it has upside down forks, cast wheels and blacked out engine cases which are more in keeping with modern Japanese cruisers like the Honda Rebel or Kawasaki Vulcan but that's just my opinion.

    • @CornishMotorcycleDiaries
      @CornishMotorcycleDiaries  Před rokem +1

      Good analysis, for me this bike overlaps most with the Vulcan S, although it's pushing it to call it a 'power cruiser'

    • @Grumpy-Goblin
      @Grumpy-Goblin Před rokem

      @@CornishMotorcycleDiaries Agreed, I think it's too heavy and low powered to fall into that category. I'm not sure quite what they were aiming at but time will tell if they hit their mark or not but I certainly don't see this being the same success they had with the Interceptor or the Meteor.

      People back in India troll RE for being ancient tech (those that don't like RE) so this was RE's take on providing a classic looking bike while still providing something more than what they have in the past all while still keeping it simple. This is a welcomed step. When RE starts giving proper liquid cooling and belt drive that would also be loved by many of us. Not keeping up with modern times just to keep the image of "retro" feels pointless to a lot of riders here.

      It's a cruiser Dude, most reviewers ride everywhere in 3rd 🤨 Cruising is all about lazy low revving engines and if you can't do it, it isn't a cruiser. QED.
