I fell into a great depression last January, Stephanie and Philip ran away to south Africa and left me with without my nightly entertainment. I missed them so much I took up sewing, and drinking sherry.

Glad you said that. It's brilliantly done. Just wish I could say I liked the music. Perhaps it's because I'm not feeling well, but the music is too frantic, jarring, for me.

Burgundy almost ruined my life, Stephanie.
After Egypt and then Venice at 6 I moved to the region. Sundays we went out, en famille, for lunch at local restaurants. My 11th birthday was held at L'auberge du Pont de Collonges. Maitre Bocus only had 2 stars then. I thought this food and wines were the norm. Just a part of life.
Imagine my horror and distress when I went to school in England at 12. It was such a system shock. English food in the 60s was dire.
I often though if I had never experienced such cuisine in my early life I may well have been satisfied with much plainer food. As it was I forever looked for the flavours and standards of my, fortunate, youth.
As to wine... 60s BlueNUN was never quite to my taste.
Your recollections brought back happy memories. I had the honour of becoming a Chevalier du Vin in a few Burgundian proprietes in later life but always held those early days of magnificent dining as a cherished memory.
Heartfelt happy Advent to you and your co-conspiritors at Lalande. Keep up the spirited bonhomie.

Tonight I made the French Wine Risotto. Delicious. I followed your video with help converting measurements. I enjoyed watching all my pots full of wine! I served it with shrimp. The pickled (wine simmered)slices of red onion look great and taste great. Thank you Stephanie.

@@jasonmoreau-mccoy8406 The French title is "20 dejeuners autour de vin" -20 Lunches Around Wine." As far as I can tell thus far, it is available in French but not English. Sorry. We'll just have to rewatch Stephs video for this specific recipe and write down the ingredients and measurements.

OH my goodness that looks super yummy and I LOVE white wine, so now I am drooling! One thing is for sure you do not go unfed in the chateau. It's always nice to try a new recipe which you can share with others. Seems it was a home run!

Merry Advent everyone! Stephanie do you remember getting a book last year I think it was called “ The Boy, The Horse, the Mole and the Fox”?! Well on Christmas Eve on BBC1 about 4.30pm UK time they are showing the animated version of the book or a Christmas version I’m not sure which, I just caught the end of the trailer and the date and time!! This year the BBC are using the characters as there programme links. It looks like it will be fabulous. If anyone can’t tune in live it will be on BBC IPlayer.

But I've been following the journey of his film, and so wished it would be released here in the US. I think there's a link coming soon though where I can watch. On The Story Rug on CZcams, someone reads the story aloud with the pictures.... I love it! It is so calming and wonderful!
Yum! Love scallops and even though I’m not a huge fan of risotto (could be a texture thing), how could it be bad with all that wine and butter? Stephanie meets so many interesting and talented people in her adventures. I love how she wants to incorporate her experiences into her home life and share the benefits of those experiences with those she loves! Well done! 🥰

My family call me the Risotto Queen as it's my forté and I've often made wine based risotto with butter at the end, so I can just imagine how delicious that is! I also adore scallops ...so BINGO! I am on a -low carb- diet for almost 2 years now, and I’ve lost 20 kilo’s. Much needed. So I don’t eat rice anymore, but there are so many other options, I don’t miss it at all. 🥳

Delia Smith's Winter Cookbook has a recipe for oven baked risotto. It is delicious and a fraction of the work! Though my chef friend assures me it is less creamy. Undoubtedly true, but I enjoy it! Thank you for the video!

I love scallops, you've made me very hungry !!! Happy 50th Dan 💙. I made a sizzle steak burger last night with some camembert cheese melted on the steak, iceberg lettuce, beautiful cocktail tomato and fresh red onion, salt & pepper, it just melted in my mouth, so simple yet so yummy !!
