Robin Wilson (Gin Blossoms) talks about the Under the Sun 2013 tour, fathering, video games, working in record stores, performing in Iraq, on-stage banter and graphic design.
Robin isn't your typical Rockstar, very down to earth. I don't think the fame ever went to his head. I almost accidently tripped him trying to get my photo taken while he was rushing to the stage sideways. He didn't see me standing there waiting to ask for a pic and we crashed! lol Believe it or not, he still stood there and took a pic with me while the crowd waited to hear him perform. I'll never forget that... very cool of him. I play several of his songs in my band because our voices are similar but he will always be several notches above me.
Yeah, I approached him after an appearance at a comedy club (him and Jesse played 2 songs) and he was cool talking to me and my girl. I didn't want to take up his time, but he never made it feel like he was short on time. @@Mrdrivereight That's total BS. Doug was a mess, and didn't want the big label touring existence. So unfair to shit on Robin for Doug's problems, and he didn't steal anything. Hey Jealousy wouldn't have been a hit with Doug singing it...
Robin has been singing with members of The Smithereens as of late. His work with them has pulled me into the Gin Blossoms' catalogue. I enjoyed how this interview was personal and not just promoting a tour, an album, the usual. Thanks for sharing!
Came across him singing “Found out about you” a couple of years old....acoustic version.....just him and his guitar........awesome! He thought he was a slob back in the 90’s , my girlfriends and I thought he was so cute. Great interview! Come to Texas Gin Blossoms!!!
Found out about you isn't even his song. Its his band member Doug's. Robin stole all of new miserable experience songs from Doug. Doug killed himself over it. Cute? Yeah no theirs ain't cute. They're crooks!
Unless you're the guy he stole "his" hit songs from. You'd probably kill yourself after his theft like Doug did. He wrote 2/3rds of GB hits. Yeah they robbed him and he killed himself.

Robin last time you played big flats, you had one little tattoo, and your boy had his head splayed across your tiny chest...we argurmed about the opening song of the state fair when you said we would never open with the money shot...

Gin Blossoms is a great band they deserve more recognition.
