- When you learn to drive how to know what speed limit a road is is one of the most difficult part to learn. With this video learn how to know road speed limit.
In the UK we have 30mph in the built-up areas, 60mph on the single carriageway, 70mph on dual carriageway and on motorways it's 70mph.
Road sign with a red circle gives orders the maximum speed you can drive, and blue circle gives orders the minimum speed of the road.
Must always look well ahead and read the road and look for road sign for speed. Street light tell you that it's built-up area and it's 30mph, unless road sign/marking tells you otherwise. Single carriageway with no street lights it's 60mph, and dual carriageways it's 70mph, unless road sign/markings tells you otherwise.

Your videos and teaching skills are really helpful. You are a great teacher, you excelled in teaching driving car. I learnt lot from your videos, just exactly 1 month back i passed my driving test but still today's this video new info is there which my instructor didn't mention.
Below are the points from this video my driving instructor didn't tell me in his classes:
1. When its 30 or other default national speeds, no reminders will be there.
2. Other than national speeds, reminders will be mentioned, also initial speed limit is with bigger cicle board after that reminders will be small circle boards.
That's why i continue to follow your channel, watch your videos to keep learning and drive safely.

I wonder why my instructor doesnt tell me these things, he just thinks I know... he'll be shouting "change gears!" ... "prepare!"... "speed limit speed limit" ... I was stuck and I still hadn't figured out how I prepare to stop until Driving TV ... I'm not listening to anyone else now, but this instructor cause he's simple patient.

Now, can I ask a question regarding pedestrian crossing the road? I have searched your video and didn't find direct video for it. (maybe you could make one for it?)
You see, there's new law from last year that cars need to give way to pedestrian crossing road, no matter with/without zebra crossings. So the other day, I was practicing driving with a friend, driving really slowly on a mini roundabout and turn left into a road, then there's a pedestrian crossing from the other side of the road, he almost reach to the island in the middle of the road, I assume he would have the intention to cross also my side of the road, so I stopped for him to cross my side of the road. At the moment, there's no cars behind me, but my friend said, I don't need to give way to the pedestrian, because there's an island, he should/could wait there. So my question: Should I wait and let the pedestrian cross? or should I carry on driving?
Another instance, last week, on a road of 40mph, about 5 metres away from a mini roundabout, (because of the roundabout, I have already slowed down to about 25mph) I haven't reach there yet, there's an old man, jumping into the road, not on my side yet, but I spotted him, I did quickly stop for him, let him pass, then proceed slowly to the mini roundabout, but the driver behind me was horning really loudly to let me know his anger. My friend once again said, I shouldn't give way to that pedestrian, although no island in the middle of the road, but he isn't on my side yet, I should carry on driving.
I'm confused, I have my driving test booked in August, and I wish to know what should I do when I spot pedestrian on the road (with/without island, with/without zebra crossing)?

20mph limit in built up ateas is in place to avoid accidents. This limit is often in place because with higher speeds there have been many accidents and near accidents in the past. The area is safer for pedestrians, cyclists & all other various road users. It is an easier speed to stop from. It is easier to see around parked cars and obstacles. There are children and older people, families, disabled people, cyclists and motorcyclists as well as vans, lorties, buses, parked vehicles, people loading & unloading, vehicle doors opening and closing & other obstructions. Blind spots at junctions & on the roads. Much potentisl busyness and dangers. Please do not criticise lower speed limits. They are in place to make driving in the UK safer for everyone than in many other countries. As a driving instructor teaching people to be safe & consider all other road users in different situations on the road & not to be only thinking of your own driving convenience is very important. Your videos are generally very helpful thankyou.
