In the Jake Mayes Japanese Memorial Garden, I developed the "Ghost Yard"! I started with MrMaple, 1)Amber Ghost, 2) First Ghost, 3)Sister Ghost 4) Grandma Ghost 5) Purple Ghost 6) Ghost Dancer 7)Phantom Flame + 4 Reticulated Maples in Ghost yard 8) Amagi shigure 9) Blond Beauty 10)Shigitatsu sawa 11) Firefly. After watching this great video I now need to get 1) Martha's Ghost, 2)Uncle Ghost 3) Baby Ghost and 4) Dark Ghost to complete the Ghost Yard collection. Maybe they'll all be available from MrMaple by Halloween?

Here in the UK, Baby Ghost and Purple Ghost are incredibly rare. I've never seen Martha Ghost here. Would love to get my hands on any of them and ramp up production.
Would love the entire series of Mikawa types and ones in the works as well. I have seen the variegated mikawas video and it got me really excited

I have to give Nebula a shout out. I’ve only had her since May/June and she’s putting out incredible unique peachy colored new growth. Everyday they just get more amazing in color. I adore her. Celebration is right along with her.

As soon as I saw “MapleCollector’s” videos on CZcams, I bought Uncle and Amber. The first maple I ever bought was a “peaches and cream”, and it got the obsessive maple ball rolling. Although… peaches and cream isn’t the best for being tough, heat tolerant, or anything-tolerant honestly. Probably why it’s almost never talked about lol
I love Peaches & Cream we have a nice size one that is 20 years old. I just can’t keep it on stock but it’s a good plant imo. Thanks for watching Aaron has a good channel too!
Hmm I agree and disagree with what you said about peaches and cream. I got a very cheap 3 gallon with beautiful roots but the leaves were a little burnt. I brought it home and did a root over rock project and defoliated all of the burnt leaves. It's doing very well for me now even given the stress. All of my (good) local nurseries carry peaches and cream though. Results seem all over the place. There's a place near me with beautiful 5 gallons in full sun doing great.. Mine doesn't like the sun at all. It also lost it's reticulation earlier than all the others in my collection..

@@MrMapleShow Ive enjoyed that video several times including when I was standing in front of it about to purchase it haha (thank you). I could believe it gets mixed up in the trade though. Its weird, the 5 gallons in full sun at the nursery I mentioned are gorgeous and held their reticulation. 3 other places have peaches and cream under shade cloth and there is some varying leaf burn with the reticulation fading. Another place had some burnt twigs that were labeled peaches and cream in full sun.. Obviously this could come down to care or lack of, but these are all places I buy from regularly and are reputable.. Don't know what to make of it. I do love mine. I have the roots wrapped around a 10lb piece of quartz I dug up. My plan is to slowly remove dirt over time until the whole thing is exposed.

I just purchased Purple Ghost in local nursery as you guys don't ship to Canada (please do something about it) . I brought is back home, and curently color is identical to Burgundy Lace JM , which is an older selection, however, there is difference in leaf shape and habit.

Again, really really loving these “series” or groupings. It helps a beginning maple collector to have some groups (by feature) in mind so we can try to have representation.
Speaking of which, I’d suggest a “collector’s series” - 12 types of maples “order one from each type” and then list 3-5 popular choices within each type.
Or maybe the “beginners series” which would be the first 5 maples you should own.
Or “Matt’s mafia” and “Tim’s team” where you each have to pick only 5-10 maples to own.
Do you guys have a red weeping laceleafs video? I know there's a green one. If not, that would be my recommendation for the next series. Tamukeyama and crimson queen are what started this addiction for me.

Oh these Ghosts are spectacular. I don't think we have these available in New Zealand. I've certainly never seen them. Now, of course, I want them. I love the ghost series! I LOVE the new ghost series. Firefly is the best! Og ghosts though I prefer Amber ghost. Do you guys work with bloody talons? Only seen it on talons website under his introductions, never anywhere else. It looks like peve starfish with ghost type reticulation and I need it!!!

First non-Ghost series ghost? I was thinking it could be either Blonde Beauty, Black Hole or Dark Knight but there's something in the back of my mind telling me it had a Japanese name, so I'm going with Mikazuki.

how do you get early morning sun without afternoon sun? do you bring the plant back into shade?
The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. It’s a good to site one so around 3 pm shade is provided if possible

Ghost series any good for cultivating a bonsai?
They do have medium sized leaves but they make for some amazing colors. I would say go for it!
U probably could add sweet Lucile, Tiger Rose, and peaches and Cream to the ghost group
i have uncle ghost. i also have acer p. beni gaza. I think i can get a few more ghost ones from my local farmers market. but so far im just trying to figure out how to keep it alive.
they are in pots, the plant is only about 1.5 feet tall. i bring them in when it gets below 48 or so. right now the ghost is turning a bit white on the leaves and im trying to figure out why
They need sunlight so gradually get them back in. If they are super white they need to light
