As umNdebele from Zimbabwe, okaMthwakazi, i find this very interesting and educative. However, one small link missing is how there is so much people of SA Ndebele origin in Zimbabwe: oNtuli, Skhosana, Mabhena, Mahlangu, Sibiya/Tshili, and others. I would love to hear that part and clarity on the link between these two great nations.

Our history is lost man. What I know is, as the man saying, the first Ndebele people which today are the Southern Ndebele people did come from KZN, Drakensburg and moved to what is now Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and some parts of Limpopo, and all that move was because of the Zulu expansion.
Moving forward as you know, Mzilikazi left Shaka and the Zulu nation and moved north where the Ndebele were, whom were close "allies" with the Pedis that's where the Tebele or MaTebele name comes from (they still call us that, guess not much has changed there 😅). Mzilikazi pretty much assimilated himself within the Ndebele nation, and as to how he came to power and led the Ndebele people to expand to what is now Zimbabwe idk... but I suspect that the link between the Ndebele Mpumalanga and Zimbabwe was due to the Afrikaner expansion inland as they were moving from the Cape.

@@nkululeko2456 the Southern Ndebeles settled in Transvaal around 16th century or 17th century way before the expansion of Zulu in 19th century and I think the name Ndebele was always their name but Sotho Tswana people called Mzilikazi's people Matebele because they spoke a language similar to the Ndebeles so any one who was Nguni to Sotho-Tswana people was called Letebele because of them living with Ndebeles for a long time.

@@nkululeko2456true, SA Ndebeles don't originate from Zim Ndebeles. SA Ndebeles are also a mixture of Hlubis and Zulus too, where the Zim guys are a break directly from the Zulus

This so called historians always ignore Mthombeni(Gegana/Kekana), Lidwaba, Hwaduba, Mashashane, Langa, for what reason I don't know... This history always focuses on Nzunza, Manala and Mzilikazi

We know that BakwaGegana bagega neBhalule batjhinga eTlhagwini. You should bear that our history is oral and with oral history come so many versions, and with time the Ledwaba's Hwaduba, Mashashane assimilated and associated with other nations, I don't know about bakwaLanga and I would want to touch what I am not versed on. Bear in Mind even emaNdebeleni there are groupings that were not amaNdebele but by either living amongst amaNdebele they too associated and today see themselves as amaNdebele.
