Muhammad Akbar Fauzi I jump between open and left handed. Depending on the song and what it requires. I am much better keeping time with my left hand though but generally try to keep my play style open using either hand.
shaun mclay thank you very much for the comment. I can assure you I don’t do the stick twirls to show off. It’s just a tool I have in my grab bag of fun tools that keep drums interesting for me to play and people to watch. In this song I also switch between left and right handed drumming in terms of keeping time. That is not something I have to do and could be considered showing off as well because it’s unnecessary. But it is a fun challenge for myself and people with a keen eye will pick it out. Performing music is as much visual as it is technical and putting my videos on CZcams means I need to be fun to watch and technically perfect (or as near to) as I can be. I respect that you don’t like the stick flips. But if you came to see me perform live you would see that all these tricks and techniques I bring to a live stage. They are meant to entertain, not to show off, I don’t feel I am special when it comes to playing drums, but I love playing drums because of how it makes me feel. I wish you the very best and would like to thank you for taking the time to watch my video.
