  • After removing old window tint from the rear quarter windows, T.J. replaces 2 of the 3 window guide assemblies on both door windows in the 1995 Nissan 300zx. Both windows were loose and causing an open gap for rain to pour into the car.

    Link to parts kit?

      This is the upper kit
      www.z1motorsports.com/door-shell-and-trimming/nissan/oem-300zx-z32-top-window-roller-slider-kit-p-4398.html
      And this is the lower kit
      www.z1motorsports.com/door-shell-and-trimming/nissan/oem-300zx-z32-lower-rear-window-roller-slider-kit-p-7589.html
      Keep in mind you don't have to do the whole kit, you could just get replacement rollers.

    Excellent video, not many on CZcams for this very procedure.

    Any marks from using the window as a cutting board? Genuine question.

    • @deadpedalgarage6457
      @deadpedalgarage6457  Před rokem +1

      Totally valid question. It's a bad habit of mine. I've never noticed any marks and I use razor blades to clean windows alot. But of course that is putting the blade flat like shaving the glass vs strait on it like a cutting board. I also typically work on glass that is old and has scratches already.
      In short, no I haven't noticed any marks, but it's probably not a smart thing to do.

      @@deadpedalgarage6457 appreciate the response. I have this kit sitting in a box in my garage. Tedious jobs like this scare me so I've been avoiding that box like the plague for about 18 months. This video was tremendously helpful in getting more comfortable with it, thank you for taking the time to make it.

      @PNWreckage no problem, I'm glad it could help. Thanks for watching it. It has been a while since I've done this, but feel free to ask any other questions and I'll help with what I can remember.

    any advice on how to get window back up, im doing the same roller fixing but my window fell down into the door and i cant get a hold of the damn thing to bring it back up

    • @deadpedalgarage6457
      @deadpedalgarage6457  Před rokem

      I'm not sure how much you've taken off already, but with the outer window weatherstrip, door panel and the plastic weather sheet off I would assume there should be somewhere you could wedge your fingers under it to get it out. Maybe try a couple wire hangers hooked at the end to lift it a bit until you can grab it. Just be careful using the electric window with the window detached from it. I've seen them shatter from being pinched with the regulator assembly.

      @@deadpedalgarage6457 finally got window out, had to remove speaker housing. Now my problem is the first higher side roller, the metal base that screws on to the actual bolt, refuses to come off

    • @deadpedalgarage6457
      @deadpedalgarage6457  Před rokem

      @@saltwaterbae9270 yeah, I remember that one being very tight. It might help to let some pb blaster soak in for a bit. I had to use various pliers to get the 2 parts separated. And it's nerve racking because it's through glass so you don't want any torque to transfer the wrong way and break the glass. If the part with the roller screwed off, you could screw the new roller onto the old base.

      @@deadpedalgarage6457 I've hit it twice with pb Blaster, I think I might just use the same post. I have it 1/4 loose and it's not budging, gonna see if I can screw it back down and just add the roller

    Why would you paint a zx lambo green 🤔

    • @deadpedalgarage6457
      @deadpedalgarage6457  Před 2 lety +1

      Lol. It needed paint and I had the green in my shop. So basically it cost me $100 or so for the clearcoat and that was it. I actually want to repaint it in the future using the era correct midnight purple color that the z32 and skylines came in.

    • @deadpedalgarage6457
      @deadpedalgarage6457  Před 2 lety +2

      Lol, it's not really a "haircut" if you stop cutting it. And like alot of my cars, this one was headed to the scrap yard before I got it. So I used paint I had laying around because the z had 2 different colors on it. My plan is to paint it with Nissan's lp2 midnight purple eventually.
