Enough | A Solo Colorado Trail Thru Hike

- In July 2023, I set off alone with my dog to thru hike 567 miles from Denver back to my home in Durango (completing both sides of the collegiate loops thus the extra miles.) My dog Indy unfortunate had to be taken off the trail in Twin Lakes leaving me to finish my first thru hike alone.
26 days from start to finish, I had one of the most peace and easy experiences of my life. I was lucky to only get rained on a few times and to make incredible trail family along the way.
A huge thank you to Nemo Equipment and Skratch Labs for gifting me the gear and supplements I needed to do something I've dreamed about for years.
and a huge thank you to you for watching my journey and listening to my story. You are enough.

Was Indy too hot to finish the hike with you ? 😢
I made a seperate video explaining but he cracked his paws on the pavement in Breckenridge and they just kept getting worse so I took him off trail in Twin Lakes :(
Awesomeness … love the poetic way you view the struggles. \\\ Life is Art ///
Lost my service dog a few months ago. He was my boo >>> was my fly fishing buddy and spent many weeks in the San Juan’s and explored the wilderness with me all the time.
Hiking CT beginning first week of July ‘24 and taking my time to enjoy it. Starting at Indian Creek - So excited
"I just needed to be" couldn't of felt you more.... amazing video.
Peace and love to you, really enjoyed your journey. Thanks for taking the time to show your CT hike
Outstanding adventure my friend! Stunning work!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for the inspiration and motivation to get out and get into the wild. I'm looking forward to doing this trail in a couple years for my 50th😮
You are enough and very inspiring, Thank you 🙏
I wish you well and your Journey in Life. Why? Because you Deserve it. ☺️
Wonderful journey and story.
Amazing views
Nice adventure!
This is great! You guys did a fantastic job! Thank you!
A wonderful documentary and a wonderful message. You are enough! I battle this too. I appreciate you.
Lovely video, lovely experience. May you have many more adventures!
Very well done! video. Having hiked it and seen just about all CT' CZcamss out there, again, well done. As well as your candor...
Thanks for sharing your trek. I really appreciated your emotional openness. Your story telling is wonderful. You’ve left me with much to contemplate about what hiking means to each of us individually. Thanks again. Peace and happy trails.
Congratulations on completing such an amazing journey! Great video! Keep on keeping on young lady. Thank you for sharing.
Fantastic video. Your openness and candor is fantastic and far surpasses many, if not most, backpacking videos out there. Keep on keeping on.
Great video and cinematography. Very well done. Thank you also for sharing your personal journey with us too. God bless you.
Completed CT in 2022. A lovely video and appreciate your transparency and sharing. You’re a beautiful and talented person!
Wow that was incredible
You captured the CT so beautifully, well done! I was on the CT from mid-Aug to mid-Sept this summer and watching this really makes me miss it more than I already did. It was a lot of fun to see so many of the little places on trail and remember being there. Little things like passing the cairn on Georgia Pass where I came across a day hiking math professor eating a sandwich and had a fun conversation with 😊
I loved hearing all about the internal journey that you were walking through on the trail too. It was really brave of you to share.
I really need to sort through all of my clips and make a video of my hike but I get really overwhelmed with it and have been procrastinating for months 😬
I met so many of my trail friends at that same cairn.
I put it off for sooooo long but it felt so nice to revisit all the memories! I'm stoked to watch your video when you finish it
Cool
Solo 500+ with your Dog , very awsome 🤙
This is excellent, especially the intro, since I relate to often being accused of the not being good enough for more than anything, also in CO. The concept reminds me of the Barbie Kenergy "Kenough" & NF songs.
I am a sucker for this types of videos ahhh
That was beautiful! Thank you. You're beautiful too. :>)
I think I took a picture of almost the exact same view you show at 1:00
I have a picture of the very same flowers 16 seconds in. Happy trails from a fellow CT 23' hiker
The flowers this year were insane!
The hammock chillin at the butterfly house
The absolute best day, I wish I could've taken a zero there
😍😍
can I ask you the font you used for the title? I really love it!
I wish I knew! It was a random one on canva
Could you please share your route for completing both of the Collegiates? I would like to do that as well and wondering how you did it. Thanks. This video is really great. Your dog...❤🍊
Of course! I did West first from Twin Lakes, hiked for 3 days and spent a night at the Butterfly house before circling back and heading on Collegiate East. My partner at the time shuttled me back to Monarch after I reached Twin Lakes again. You have to repeat a couple miles but I'm really glad I did both
@@wildjules Thanks so much. I'm planning to do the same. However, since I don't know anyone there to give me a ride, I might have to hike the west again. There are worse things I suppose!🍊
Thanks for sharing your adventure. I also hike with my dog and plan on hiking the CT this summer together. We did the Long Trail in Vermont a couple of times and I learned a lot about long distance hiking and hiking with my dog. I no longer have my dog carry her pack. She had issues at the 60 mile mark and I took it off her and it’s never gone back on. You addressed my biggest concerns, relentless sun and long water hauls. As an East Coast hiker thunder storms and altitude are also my concern. I switched out of my UL Zpacks for a more robust pack for the longer water hauls and my dog’s stuff. What brand of shoes did your dog use and did they help. I fortunately have not had any issues. I do carry Mushers cream for her paws. I often felt like you back in the day, I am now much older than you, in my 60’s and all those feelings seem like I wasted time. You are enough but only you have to believe that. Sometimes I am not enough and that’s ok too. I wish I could feel the way I feel about myself when I was young like you but it was not in the cards and needed to grow and grow up. All I can tell you is people tend to accept themselves more as they get older. What others and the world thinks means nothing. Maggie and I will drive out towards the end of August and start our hike. Take care and I wish you and your little friend the best. PS Maggie is my best friend too, I deeply love her.
I got the Canada Pooch hot pavement booties and they helped so much but unfortunately he had already cracked his paws on the hot pavement in Breckenridge so he got taken off the trail in Twin Lakes. The trail was pretty nice and gently on his paws but the towns were what got him. I wish you and Maggie all the best!!
@@wildjules Thanks so much for the information and I will look into getting a set of these. Take care and enjoy your adventures.
young enough
Wow! Amazing. Thanks for sharing my dream!!
What shoes are you using… we’re you satisfied with them??
I used Altra Lone Peak 6's ! I loved them
you're so nice, you look hot, your Soul shines bright like the Sun, so your not just ok, you are a 10!!! Be proud of who you are an what you've been through!!!!
Thanks for sharing the video. Which Nemo is that and did you like it?
I loved it! It's the Hornet UL 2 person. Definitely heavier than some other UL tents on the market but really easy to put up and super sturdy
You are beautiful and have a great personality, so it’s sad to hear that you had anxiety for a long time. We are often our own worst critics.
😉🤙
What date did you start the CT? 30 days or so to complete.
I started July 12 I think? It took me about 26 days if my math is right
Where did you put all the dog shit? Just left it there??
You bury it like you do for human waste
Do not take your dog on this hike. Other hikers don’t want to Interact with your dog.
He's incredibly well trained and didn't bother anyone. The other hikers in my bubble actually LOVED him and were so sad when I had to have him taken home due to the heat
I would.
Why must you tell others what to do… don’t interact if you don’t want to but don’t speak for the world of hikers.
I came across you on trail, your dog was limping and you were taking a ride up the trail to skip miles. This video is bullshit but you do you and be enough lmao
I absolutely never skipped miles. If you met me in Twin Lakes with my dog, he had cracked his paws and my friend picked me up to drop Indy off at a sitter's in Leadville before bringing me back to Twin Lakes to finish the trail without him. You might have me confused with someone else
That poor puppy. You should carry your gear. And not make him carry all that wait. He's not a donkey. He may act like one.but he's a dog.;-). Just being facetious. Good job.
Backpacks puts dogs at ease, and at the same time gives them a job to do, which is a boon for their mental health. It's is exclusively positive.
Did you even watch the whole video?
The dog is carrying its own supplies like dog food, bed, and water bottle specifically for the dog; not the human.
Wow! Just wow. 🙄
