    It never ceases to amaze me how unbelievably massive these ships are. I used to to work building houseboats and we got an order from overseas. I'll never forget watching them load that boat on to one of these container ships like it was the lego version of a houseboat.

    • @BEEFTEEF4
      @BEEFTEEF4 Před 2 měsíci +1

      These are nuts when fully loaded with containers. On the civilian side I just went on the Carnival Celebration which is 1130ft long, 18 passenger decks high, and holds 6500 ppl with staff and crew. It was so massive that fully booked I was never in a crowded area. I think it was 185,000 gross tons. I took videos leaving ports from deck 17 and it looked like I was flying away from the port in a Cessna. Engineering is nuts, and awe inspiring.

      Why did they run her aground? Are they going to just clean her hull (scraping), or are they going to scrap her out? 😢

    • @TheEDFLegacy
      @TheEDFLegacy Před 7 měsíci +35

      @julierichens4218 It's significantly cheaper and faster to run a ship aground, and bring heavy equipment to the ship on the sandbar than it is to bring it to a dedicated purpose-built ship breaking port (like the ones in Brownsville, Texas), environmental and safety concerns be damned. You'll never really see this in western countries due to those concerns, while India has this method down to a science.
      If they were going to clean/scrape the hull, it would end up in a drydock instead. Running aground can cause severe damage to a ship's hull.

      You mean L-O-A-D-E-R? Or is that the French name? Or is that the knock off name... aka made in a cheap warehouse in China & India? Kinda like Adidas products being labeled Aididas... or Gucci knock offs being labeled Gussi? Instead of making knock off high end over priced name brand products... they are now making Heavy Equipment? Only instead of it being the regular American sizes... they are making them as the real life version models of Micro-Machines & Matchbox Cars 🚗. Just like how China makes those $1000, $2000+ mini pick-up trucks... that get shipped in a larger crate... but when you get the thing... eventhough it looks like a truck 🚚... even with a hydraulic dump box for the bed of the truck... and it has everything to be considered Road legal... it's not Road legal because it's basically a golf cart made to look like a truck... and it's not much bigger than a golf cart. So here we have the: MADE IN China & India *Loader... I mean LAODER! 😂😂😅

    Imagine something that size being turned into housing. It would almost be completely self sufficient. Remove the props, and plug the holes. Then you have a generator that could power the entire place. Have the top deck as a garden, and you could probably COMFORTABLY house about 500 people. Have a desalination setup for the water, and make sure to have sewer of course, and if you wanted to get more ecologically friendly, set up some solar panels so the engine is backup power.
