  • I hear so many people talk about depression after the trail because they missed the trail and miss that lifestyle but what about depression on the trail? This is something I’ve struggled with and I talked about hopefully this helps others realize they’re not alone. If you need some to talk to you message me anytime I need my social media platforms or through an email.

Great video about an important subject. I wish I were there to hike a few days with you, tell you some corny jokes and experience a bit of another trail with you. Meeting you was one of my many blessings from my time on the Appalachian Trail. I have experienced both on trail depression and currently...post- trail depression. Both self diagnosed, and probably more accurately called "blues" but it's REAL. As a matter of fact, I chose to abort my 2019 hike because of the weight of family issues which took most of the wind out of my sails. You know that I'll try again, but my point is....my hike was ended not for physical reasons, but rather emotional ones. I'm with you, friend! All the way! Hikers hike!

I often go through crazy ups and downs when I'm hiking. But it seems to be the best therapy for me. It gives me time to reflect and work through things that I kept pushing down. It's all part of the process. Wish you all the best!

On trail depression is definitely a thing... a perfectly normal thing. Keep letting it out and you'll be good. The feelings are real, just probably detached from their origin. The trail gives you time to exercise your demons. Thankyou for this weeks video, take care. HESR.

I had a lot of down moments on my solo travels. But I think at the end, it made me grow up a lot. That's part of the process sometime... feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders. Keep going! ✌️👍🙏

Thierry laurent thanks I’m hoping on the PCT I find folks to hike with at my pace so maybe this doesn’t happen again. Took a while but it was hard. I feel better now sharing

Thanks for sharing your story. Depression and mental health in general have such a stigma in society and the more people like yourself talk about it the more the stigma will reduce in our society. So many people do not seek treatment because they are afraid what people will say and this is destroying people’s lives.

    Nice soundtrack in the background!!
Sounds like normal trail life. Weather and light is definitely a thing. Talk to AK natives.
