I don’t mind that test was putting the dimming algorithm to its max and with most things you watch it won’t be that crazy. What I look for is how the dimming algorithm holds up can it track objects on a dark background without noticing any blooming and this tv dose a pretty good job at that. OLEDs will always be the king of dark scenes but this tv get very close.
I really like the direction Sony is taking with their lineup by fully embracing both MiniLED & OLED.
There was talk of them stopping OLED in the future which will be a shame as they are so good.
that talk about oleds ending was false, rumors by another youtuber. Sony will continue oleds, but focus on improving LED tech! @@blade1535

As always,Great Review!!! Was wondering, will you guys be reviewing the Bravia 8 and 9???
In regards to suppression of small highlights. Using Local Dimming on Medium is the most 'correct' and balanced way to get some more light out of them. Then there is always the tweaks you showed like contrast enhancer that might help. But of course using enhancer accuracy could change.
It’s a trade off OLEDs are king of dark scenes but man this tv gets very close you can’t really complain.
Thanks for sharing
Got some great info about a minute in. The feet can be mounted inboard(which I need) or outboard.
Great Video from you B the installer :) and i waiting when you testing the Bravia 8 the Oled and the flagship Bravia 9. The cool is all tv have 120 hz that very good for dolby vision gaming.
Nice video B, Sony TVs usually have great upscaling.
Great Review
Are you guys reviewing the bravia 3?
Do you know if the bravia 3 has an IPS or VA panel? Can't find any info on this online. Thanks!
Love the channel. For a VERY bright room, which would you recommend...75" Bravia 9 or 77" LG G3??
I like B's installation videos. Those are really enjoyable and as bonus you also get to see the reaction of the TV owner.
Dedicated review video wise, this was bit rushed out IMHO.
Nice video keep up the good work B the installer
That's what she said
The black level in game mode corresponds to the hdmi limited or full in the console settings. If you set the console to limited the TV should be set to low etc
Ya i tell people not to use auto because doesnt always work, console set to limted, TV set to same or low, console set to full, TV set to high or full, ether one does same thing, although most tvs are 16-235 so id would personally use limited
Always things to learn. Thanks
Do you expect the 65" to be substantially brighter with better blooming control than the 55"?
Excellent review
Great job. Please review the new LG QNED89t (98 inch) ....:)
I didn’t know Sony made a dump truck
Hi Guys Great Work Truly
Does the BRAVIA 9 Really have a big difference over the BRAVIA 7 in Just seems a waste of $ ?
Color Accuracy ? Detail/Depth in foreground , middle and Background ? Upscaling ? Response time ?
No gaming No Hdr content use
Hi. Love your reviews. Could you possibly tell me how thick (height) the legs are. Thanks.
Thanks as always Brandon...shes a beaut but I wont swap it for my QN95C!
Can you do a video (or post) the best settings?
Hey B the Installer,
I would like to know your opinion, What would you recommend the sony bravia 7 or the sony x95L?
Kind regards
The X95L for sure.
Some quick comments on your video:
I have a 75” Sony BRAVIA 7 and did not encounter random fluctations in brightness, or loss of shadow detail in darker scenes. My Sony BRAVIA 7 performed very well with the infamous beach scene in Episode 7 of House of the Dragon. Moreover, I had not watched Luca before, but played it on Disney+ and was satisfied with the shadow detail on the dark scene that you showed.
The BRAVIA 7 should not be compared with the X90L, which has a full-array local dimming backlight, but with the X93L which features a Mini-LED backlight as the BRAVIA 7 does. I had the X93CL (Costco’s version of the X93L) and can say that the image of the BRAVIA 7 is appreciably better. It has higher brightness, contrast and color saturation, and XR Clear Image which the X93L lacks. The downside is that the BRAVIA 7 lacks X-Wide Angle and X-Anti Reflection which the X93L and X95L have.
The inexplicable and inexcusable lack of X-Anti Reflection on the BRAVIA 7 is the reason why you could see yourself on some of the darker scenes.
There are many indications that the unboxing that you showed on the video was not that TVs first unboxing. Perhaps the issues that you faced are related to the TV not being factory-fresh. What was the source of that TV?
Not a quick comment.
When the Bravia 7 drops to X93L prices it'll be perfect. Hopefully that will happen by Black Friday 2024.
@@furballbear When the Sony BRAVIA 7 was released the 75” was priced at $2,799.99 and the price of the 75” Sony X93L was reduced $300.00 to 2,499.99. Now both the 75” BRAVIA 7 and X93L are being sold by Best Buy for $2,499.99 -which does not make sense to me. Sony gives consumers with $2,500.00 to spend on a TV the choice between the newer TV with a brighter panel and X-Clear and the older relatively less-bright TV without X-Clear but with X-Wide Angle and X-Anti Reflection -which in my opinion are essential for casual TV viewing in a living room. When consumers are confused or unhappy about their choices, they often exert none.

Hey B and Jenn I've heard this TV is awesome for what it offers. Really good specs for this B7.😊
Thanks for your review. You said the Bravia is "pretty good". What current TV do you consider great?.
You're welcome. I think the mini-led tvs with better anti-relfective capabilities and more dimming zones are better like the Hisenae U8N, Sony Bravia 9, Samsung QN95D... these are all better and flagships, there the bravia 7 is a good tv but not top. And I also like OLED tvs like the Sony A95L, Samsung S95D, LG G4.
Any idea if your going to be getting your hands on the TCL 98QM851G? Currently looking at this and the Sony 98X90L. Touch choice at this point. Thanks, Gerry

lg G4 ?.top end tv , just like in Sony it is A95L , which are very expensive .

And the sound quality please. Thx
Please do an unboxing of the Sony BRAVIA 8 TV and a sound test.
Every OLED tv I’ve had has gotten dead pixels and I was tired of that happening so I decided to go back to LED and this time I wanted to find a tv that would get very close to OLED. I decided on the Sony Bravia 7 and man I made a good choice. Blacks are black I don’t notice any blooming and the picture is much brighter and the QLED display made everything pop. My Sony soundbar and Sony Blu Ray player now all match with the tv. I’d say I’m happy I do still kinda miss OLED for the dark scenes but that’s the trade off you get but I’m tired of having dead pixels and every OLED I’ve had has done that.
You notice the dead pixels? Maybe you are sitting too close? My Oled has them and they don’t bother me.
Definitely a wait till it goes on sale
I went with the 7 over the 93L because it’s brighter and the audio is better.
@z28fun - Smart move because the Bravia 7 also has a better stand, Voice Zoom 3 and supports 6 GHz WiFi.
The mothers of my friends never wore those kind of outfits.
Would have been a whole different childhood!
Jeez that darkness is terrible. Have to skip getting this I guess. does the series 9 have the same issue?
I got the 85" bravia 7 last week. It seems ok. I like it more than my 77" a80j
Curious how much more immersion does the extra 8” add going up from 77” to 75”? Do you think it was a worthwhile size jump?
Not a strong endorsement 🤣. I never thought the premium you pay for the Sony brand is worth it, when you can LG or Samsung OLED for cheaper. I just got the 83 inch LG C3 for $3,299 and couldn’t be happier with the purchase.
@@deanhasen3220 looking at the same model, glad you like it! About how far are you sitting from it?

My X95G died, only after four and half years which is pathetic, but good timing somewhat. Still under warranty. Looking at this model now, but will definitely get the extended warranty again as I would expect this to also die off under five years.
better buy the 98 inch X90L
how much is for your varanty? where I live, it's about 25% of product price for 3 aditional years.
Good morning
Does this one compare more to the 93L or the 90L from last year?
X95l which was better than x93l, but this years model has 2x more dimming zones than even the x95l from last year.
93L.
Bravia 7 65 inch has 480 dimming zones vs 420 on the X93L.
The X95L is still superior on a technical level, and the person saying this has 2x the dimming zones of it is on crack (although this TV does get brighter and measured more accurate than the X95L out of the box, but with 2x less contrast.)
@@justsaying993 I also I agree i went to see the bravia 7- 75in and was not sold on the picture quality vs X93L. I decide to buy the x93l as the PQ was just better to my eyes.
Going to be looking at lg qned mini led for 24.
just FYI, Spiderman on PS5 has terrible HDR performance! It doesn't tone map correctly so it's a bad example to use for TV reviews. Maybe in the future you could use God of War, Elden Ring, or Ghost of Tsushima 👍
Elden Ring lmao
I want either this or the Bravia 8 OLED for my future TV to play on my PS5 and watch some shows… Which should I buy? Mini LED for reduced burn-in with some blooming or OLED with burn-in risk?
OLED, no question.
@@killerinst1ncz308 I wonder why OLED would be chosen over Mini-LED these days. Some OLED TVs might suffer from burn-in after many years of usage. Which is why I’m leaning towards Mini-LED.
OLED brightness for gaming in HDR is hit or miss due to ABL dimness. If you priotize brightness, skip OLED. I have a S95b and A9G, and I'm ready to return to a non-OLED tv like my previous Samsung Q8fn that died lol
All TV’s come with a risk. I’ve had a Sony and Lg led tv both go out on me in less than 3 years. Your oled will run a pixel refresh for about 5 minutes every couple days to help reduce chances of burn in. Also with oled, you get the added advantage of instantaneous pixel response time to reduce overall lag and latency. Also, game mode usually looks significantly better on oled because led’s usually disable most of that contrast you get from the local dimming. Image ends up appearing dimmer and flat in comparison to oled. The choice between oled and led mainly comes down to how much you prioritize gaming performance. HD movies are going to look good on any of them. I would do more research before I bought the Bravia 8 though. There might be better oled’s for a cheaper price. Don’t forget about oled with mla (g3&g4) and Qd-oled (A95L, S95D, etc.) These might be great options if you can catch a good sale. Check out Tech with KG’s video where he does a side by side comparison of the Bravia 9 against the Lg G4. Then, you can see the best mini led vs the best oled.
I bought one and I'm going to return it. The XR clear image does not clean up older video as I thought it would and the reflection of my couch and coffee table in dark scenes is annoying.
He said in in the beginning that low pixel quality is going to be bad.
My 65 X90L looks good when viewing a lower resolution 480p dvd. I watched Eight Legged Freaks on dvd, and I was impressed with the picture quality. My bedroom tv is a 65 A8H, and it does a good job with low resolution, but it does seem to increase film grain on 480p content.
If spent that money on a Sony 7 and I would think the LG G4 would be a better buy .
I'd go for G4 too
Would like to see the bravia 9 vs A95L
Different. Same basic OLED vs QLED type video. But I shall eventually get the Bravia 9
I liked it , I have a Oneplus Tv so how can I make my tv 4K resolution
It looks beautiful on my Sharp 75" XLED. Is it my TV or is it the Sony B7?
Sharp . Made in japan
Am between an a80l and bravia 7....am only into games and movies...my only concernn isvthe burn in issyes in oleds...any advise? Thanks
Burn in isn’t much of an issue anymore. I have the a80 and there’s just no beating an OLED.
I was in Bestbuy and they had a floor model G3 for sale. It had horrible burn in. Just fyi...
Screen burn is still an issue, but not as much as the previous generation oled tv's. If you keep the tv on more than a few hours at each viewing or like to watch sports or news with static scoreboards or banners, then I would consider an led tv.
I am not sure how accurate it is when people says burn in isn't an issue "anymore". I previously used a Panasonic ST60 plasma that was said to be a generation where burn in or IR wasn't an issue anymore but I still had moderate retention especially after playing games that had HUDs or even RPGs where the stats would only show up during battles. I would have to run a pixel scrubber or white screen to wear down the IR to levels where they wouldn't be so visible. I couldn't really enjoy playing games most of the time and would have to do things like lower the contrast to reduce the risk of IR. At that point the picture was just not enjoyable and I would always have to look for IR after a session of gaming.
I would say to play it safe if you're gaming. I have the X90L which replaced my ST60 as my main TV and I love it.
@@raikirik703 that's funny i used to have an st60 too...I really like that tv
I have the 85 x90L and mostly love it. Like said in this review I think there's still a big content issue with streaming compression, etc so I still imo don't think it's worth buying a 5k plus tv quite yet. Motion, color, clarity and upscaling is pretty great on this x90L and I'd rather go big than smaller expensive oled
Bro i am planning to buy x90L(65 inch)...can you please tell what are the cons if there are any...i am mainly focused on good picture quality ❤
@@ashamohana-s1o honestly it's the best value you'll get for such a quality mid priced tv. Tinkering with the settings to your liking and the tv will blow your mind for being an lcd that's not even mini. The picture and contrast honestly hangs in there with my friends C3 OLED. Just make sure if you're streaming to have a great high speed connection. I wish some of these streaming apps could catch up with what these TV's offer but that said Sony handles the compression noise and upscaling as well or better than any I've seen. Also, if you can buy at Costco and get the warranty. They replaced my old Sony x91j with the x90l for no cost and I'm so much happier with this newer model and they give ya the premium lit up remote. 🤙

I just found out the 75 inch Bravia 7 is like $3500 …. Yikes…..too much when a model from last year is like $2200 , I guess it’s the mini led 🤷🏻♂️
When putting the stand on the TV, shouldn't they have laid the TV on its back?
Do they flip the tv's after each review?
Dimming corner for this one? It has in x90L
Sony always seem to have a problem with Dolby Vision. As you showed how dark it gets. It's basically on all Sony's at one time or another. I don't see how the backlight would cause it because it's meta data that tells the display how bright it should be.
That's because theres no industry standard for it, HDR is 1000nits, so they dont know where to put the baseline. So coukd end up being ti dark or bright.
I wish a hardcore PlayStation 5 gamer would review the Bravia 7. Is there a channel for that?
Seriously because I want to replacey S95b...not bright enough
@@DV-ou1yu Based on everything I've seen and read, the BRAVIA 7 is certainly going to be more than bright enough.
Not long ago you had a video saying you watch And prefer Direct Tv as it had the best picture. Also said you’ve had since college. Now you watch CZcams tv. Why the change?
Could you tell me if Sony TVs have filmmaker mode?
Yes
No, not specifically. This year they have Professional Mode, which is designed to be their reference mode. On 2023 and prior models, Custom was the most accurate.
No, Sony does not have a filmmaker setting. As mentioned above, Custom setting is most accurate in previous year models, and the Professional setting is most accurate in 2024. Sony makes it easy to tweak picture settings and explains what each option does with a pop-up box.
The prices for the LG G3, C3 & B3 has come down significantly, it would make a lot more sense buying a 77” C3 since they’re regular on sale below the 2k mark.
Is this better than X93L? XR Clear + Mini LED
Only thing the 93L beats it in is viewing angles and reflections which are both irrelevant to most people if you watch the TV straight on
@@TechPanther7 why viewing angles? I will not forget how BAD the X90L’s viewing angles are!
The X93L is probably my preferred tv because it was pretty similar to the top X95L but in smaller sizes. This is in-between the X90L and Bravia 9 so I would rank them 9, x95l, x93l, 7, x90l

This is supposed to be an upgrade to last year's X90L. B8 this year is an upgrade to A80L. B9 an upgrade to X95L.
@@Sas-wk9lj The X90L carries over into this year. The Bravia 7 takes the slot of the X93L, and will have performance similar to the X95L.
I mean.. if you have the money for it, just get the A95L, it’s the best of both worlds
Remember - Local Dimming High always suppresses highlights worse than Medium. Medium is usually most accurate.
Based on Bravia 9 testing - seems like Game Mode is still a work in progress. Hopefully, firmware will fix it soon.
Considering the cheaper launch price, I think this will be the sleep hit of the year for Sony. Unless you’re really limited on budget - there is no reason to get the X90L this year.
B, was local dimming set to high or medium when those scenes seemed too dark?
It only dims highlights in the 2% window, it doesnt make shadow areas darker so it's nothing to worry about, your 10% window is most important for HDR highlights and doesnt bother it
@@TechCody113 I’m going to disagree with you on that. 10% windows are a common measuring tool for HDR, but some of the most impactful highlights can and will be smaller than 10%. And if you run a real-scene highlight test with various APLs like what’s in the newest Spears and Munsil 4K disc - you’ll see where High has negative effects.

This has issue with game and is overall worse than the X95L. Not worth the money at all. The Brava 9 apparently has issues as well in game mode where as the X95L is perfect, but picture quality outside gaming looks better than the X95L and it's brighter.. Now that i got the tv to work, not impressed. I guess im spoiled by oled. Even though my LG A2 is a few years old now, it still looks betternthan this tv when side by side. Black crush is bad on the B7. In dark scenes my A2 is better, even 4k dark scenes. Same with SD, A2 looks much richer and upscaling is just as good as the B7. The only time the B7 looks better to me is with bright 4k feeds. Detail may be better but the blacks are nowhere near oled levels. If i try to remove the black crush, the blacks get grey and scenes look hazy or foggy. I guess i lost the panel lottery. Will be returning for a C3 or S90
This feels rushed man. Feels like Sony changed up how some of the settings worked and you and KG both did videos not fully understanding how all the new settings impact the picture.
For example, on previous generation Sony if you activated advanced contrast and enhancer and did not either select gradation preferred or brightness preferred in HDR tone mapping you would see wild luminance fluctuations. You have to spend time with the TV in order to pick these things up.
I just watched Dune part two on my 85 inch X95K and the dark scenes in Dolby Vision were very dim like what you showed here, I had to turn off advanced contrast enhancer to correct that and then things looked normal again. I think the TV likely performs better than this video suggests it does and getting more familiar with the settings probably would have helped
Also, Dolby Vision implementation has been problematic on Sony TVs for a long time. Before suggesting that the luminance issue is a backlight issue it could’ve been helpful to also test and showcase some HDR 10 footage rather than only showcasing Dolby Vision which has been problematic for Sony for sometime. not trying to be a prick, just trying to help you
I've got some videos up on my channel of my 85" B7...outside of DV (agreed), I think the picture quality is really nice.
