As an Englishman & as a cubs fan since 90/91 here in the uk...im soooo pleased & proud that we put on a great show & showed the great ppl of the USA how much some of us love & appreciate the great game of baseball, I've played the game over here at amateur lvl single A (we do have Double A & Triple A btw, just no pro leagues) which tbh is our only lvl but I hope these London series will promote the sport more & more & show our government & investors just how great it is & get more involved than ever & help local teams grow & grow
And our national baseball team qualified for the next Baseball World Classic, the future is bright
I’m going this year for the Phillies vs the Mets, really looking forward to it. Hope my Orioles come over one year
Those performances of both "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "God Save the King" were spot-on priceless.
Take a knee !
I usually cringe at anthems, but they did very well!
It was beautiful
@@population-_-420I’ll pass
@@invizz0ninja Agreed!
Very nice indeed. Almost cried during the "Star-Spangled Banner" and "God Save the King" performances. I visited London many, many years ago and had a wonderful time. Glad they're going to make this a tradition. Lots of baseball fans in the UK, which includes American military men and women serving in that area and all over Europe.
Alas after 2024, they are taking it to France.
Interesting in the London series, both teams are wearing their home uniforms.
It was like that for the Red Sox & Yankees as well. (Look it up. 😉)
@@primetime14 I did search that up.
I wonder why can't there be more home vs home jersey games throughout the season.
Captain America theme music is a flex
London ❤
Wonderful performance.
If the MLB are looking for other cities in Europe, they should look at the Netherlands and Italy since both have a baseball culture there. However I doubt that you can fit an entire baseball field in Cruyff Arena or San Siro Stadium.
You could potentially fit it in the Olimpico or Napoli stadium
Astros fan here go cubs and thanks for the beautiful performance
Cardinals Nation to Cardinals International
The Natural right into Captain America? What an intro
Wow London community gospel choir sung the anthem so beautifully. Best I’ve heard it
I just wish they'd slowed down and actually announced God Save The King
Half empty stadium, baseball is a great sport but very tough to export. It doesn't help that the ticket prices are very high.I think they got lucky with the Yankees/red sox because they are well-known in other countries but few have heard of the Cubs or Cardinals.
I also wonder how many are Americans and how many are Brits.
Yesterday there were 58 000 supporters in London I think. My brother went to see. Every baseball fan in Europe must have traveled to London. And wow is the average amount of supporters in America only 20,000 to 30,000? I thought this was much more. In football that is little if there are only 20,000 supporters.
@@zkxe The photos I saw showed the place half empty but that could have been before the game started even so I've learned never to take the official attendance numbers very seriously.I watch plenty of baseball and the attendance number the announcers say never comes close to what I see.
@@azerty9360 More will see a baseball game than a football hockey and basketball game combined. But divide the 70M by the over 2400 games played and you get 28K average. There could be a dozen games played every day.A college football game can have 85K but its only played on Saturdays.
@@hifijohn Football is the most popular sport in the world. I know baseball is popular in America. But that's it. If you go to watch football in England and Spain every week the stadiums are sold out and there are at least 50 000 supporters there... So if you say that baseball is watched more I don't believe it. I even thought American football is even more popular than baseball in America or am I wrong?
5 billion people watched the World Cup final. And in America the superbowl is the most watched sports match and only 123 million people watch it... So baseball can never be more
GO Cubs!
I was so so pleased to hear that St. Louis was pronounced correctly. Many Brits say St. Louie.
Is that "The Natural" movie theme music?
yup!
Tonight ? 😂
isn’t that the texas rangers home run song
LETS GO CARDINALS!!!
Who made out their schedule their in London on sunday then they play on Tuesday?
You wouldn't want a day off to visit sites and explore?
Well, you have to take account that they have to fly back home.
Waooo
Strikes are on the other side of the plate in England.
Why don't they play these games at Lord's or the Oval?
I agree, think that Lord's would be about perfect for baseball, but I guess that the promoters want the fans to sit closer to the action.
Since this is also cricket season right now, I could see how the Marylebone Cricket Club would object to their home field being tore up for baseball.
MCC would say no. It would ruin the wicket. (unless they tarped over it and put barriers up and had a ground rule saying any ball in there is an automatic double). They have played at the Oval 100 years ago or so but Lord's are too traditional to move.
Yeah I thought that too , I guess stadium capacity was an issue and availability given it’s Cricket Season
The Oval would have worked just fine , you would need a big hit for a homer if they used all the field
They played games at the SCG in Sydney a few years back and the square was tricky for the fielders to manage
The Ashes are currently on so that was a no go. Plus it is the football off season during the baseball season whereas summer is the hight of the cricket test season.
GO CARDINALS!!!
It is interesting but as a Brit I think we have enough summer sports. Cricket, for a start. Played by billions across thr globe.
I think is hilarious that English people sang our W song over them
It's called being respectful.
Why's that?
Because it’s not a song that’s meant to insult us, it’s a song that’s meant to celebrate America
Look on the bright side , the NFL send us the Jags every year and we’re supposed to be best mates the UK and the US !!!!
Way to be embarrassing Cardinals. 🙄
Baseball’s popularity keeps declining in the US every year.
Makes sense they want to explore other territories.
That’s because they are doing woke agenda.
Not sold out?
Nope
55000 attendance..😊
It’s baseball
@@sengle928 55000 attendance second game too
Lots of empty seats 🤔
And thats after they cut the cheaper seat price practically in half.
the total of both games was 110,000
The "london community" gospel choir being like 10% english not surprising
They were all English, what are you on about?
@@DSQueenie ethnically English, not just nationality. Pretty obvious.
@@wade6346 🤷🏾♀️ the UK is a very diverse country. Plus they are a gospel choir to be fair.
British people singing a song in britian about fighting the british
Most of the people there were Americans.
most of the fans are mostly american EXPATRAITES
🥱🥱🥱😴😴😴
Stadium looks half empty. England will never get on board with baseball!
54k what are you talking about?
That’s a HUGE stadium!
Wrigley field capacity is 41,159. Busch stadium is 44,494. I think London is doing pretty great!
They should baseball comes from rounder a British invention.
Which is a shame because it’s so much better than cricket and I say that as a Brit
But but no black national anthem? 😂 They did it the way it should be, none of the other BS anthems!
The Black National Anthem is not a BS anthem
Why A.Rod still have a job in baseball...he is a cheater.
So is ur channel
Same reason Derek Jeter also got a job.
What a boringggg sport
Two boring teams.
Maybe in 2025 they should make an interleague play overseas
It’s baseball. There are 30 boring teams.
