this changed the lives of millions of Gen Xers we finally had something that was ours
🙏🙏🙏🙏
@@StaxReacts forgot to subscribe.... so one more for you Sir
We had years of Glam rock, and heavy metal, . And then this came along and just broke down all the barriers. . It was actually a really cool sound, I remember the first time I heard it it gave me goosebumps. I've never heard anything like it to that point
🙏🙏🙏
I clearly remember when it came out and I saw it on mtv… I said “ thank you “ and remember thinking… this will deal with all that glam rock … crazy thing is. Love the song as much or more than when it came out
The NEVERMIND album was huge... growing up with classic rock and thrash... this was definitely a different vibe for me... but u cant deny a good song when u hear it 🤘🏽😎
🙏🙏🙏
They came on like a freight train and just blew us all over. Nirvana was our stake in the ground. ❤
Life as I knew it changed the moment I heard this song on the radio when it first came out. I remember it like it was yesterday as time seemed to stop for a few minutes and I tried to absorb what I was hearing. Evolutionary shit, right here.
💜💜💜🙏
It’s amazing that this song had such an impact with out the modern conveniences of social media marketing and sharing. I also remember where I was when I first heard it -2nd period civics class.
Factz I was in high school and this shook the world 🌎
I was n the Air Force in Britain. I remember sitting in my dorm room, and hearing just those two guitar notes drifting from somewhere down the hallway. Duh-dummmmm.
It was so haunting. I had to find out who this band was.
I'm not sure why, but many of the grunge singers were among the greatest rock vocalists of all time. Can't wait til you discover Layne Staley and Chris Cornell! Oh, and Eddie Vedder too.
And I just had to sing infront of Jack Endino 😅😅
When this video came on MTV it blew our fkn minds.
🙏🙏🙏
This band...this album...it turned my life upside down. And in all the best ways possible. I was in Jr High when this came out. I had never heard of them before. My best friend at the time was listening to this on a Sony Walkman and I asked him what he was listening to. When I told them I never heard of them, he gave me this really odd look, shook his head and handed me the headphones.
He started the disc over again, sitting back just to see my reaction.
That was it. I was hooked. In less than 30 seconds, I found my voice. It ignited something in my soul. 30+ years later, and it still gives me goosebumps.
Lounge Act
Territorial Pissings
Two more songs on this album worth digging into it.
I would also recommend going back to the beginning, and listen to Bleach.
Negative Creep
School
🙏🙏🙏
Turning 11 the year this came out, it went on to be my anthem. All of us in our neighborhood played it constantly for the next few years. I think parents plotted to take our radios/stereos/walkmans apart, destroy the inside then put the outer shell back together while we were asleep!
Wow amazing!!!!
Come as you are is a banger my friend. Great reaction as usual. Peace out ✌️ ☮️
Would like to add In Bloom, Breed and Lithium to the banger list.
Added to the list
“Bleach” and “Breed” go hard.
Almost unfair you get to hear this song for the 1st time with lyrics available. We jammed to this song for 6 mos on the radio before we got a hold of the lyric sheet in the cassette case, lol. Good shit!
We hear it for the first time together!!!!
I love Nirvana!! Come As You Are and Heart Shaped Box are my favorites.
Betttt
If you want to be blown away listen to where did you sleep last night from Nirvana Unplugged Kurt sings his face off and it will definitely give you goosebumps. Also it’s an old Lead Belly song
🙏🙏
I'm 50, and to this day, this is still the most impactful song of my life. I haven't seen music change as quickly as it did from rock/metal to alternative/grunge when this came out. It was wonderful. I've often wondered when we would see another shift in music like that, but it hasn't really happened. And nowadays the mainstream charts are full of terrible rappers who just copy one another and can't stop using autotune. Music was better when it was played by humans, there's way too much being done on computers now, takes the heart out of it.
RIP Kurt Cobain, such an amazing voice and songwriter.
Welcome to a moment in music where it changed. Nirvana was one of the groups that’s brought an entire new genre of music to the table. RIP Kurt!
This song changed rock and roll
🙏🙏🙏
This song will forever stay with the youth rip Kurt
This song gave a voice to the apathy of the 90s when we as a country first started to realize maybe we weren't always the good guys.
🙏🙏🔥🔥
Being in high school when this came out and hearing it sec times a day working out, along with the Black album and No More Tears, GnR etc etc.. It's just amazing that there's an entire generation that hasn't heard these songs. I hope you enjoy them man! Great reaction as always my friend ❤️👍
🙏🙏🙏
1:25 “Got the janitor!” 😂
Great reaction, darlin’. 😊
Thank you!! 😁
Weird Al got the same janitor!
Can't have grown up in the 90s without knowing this song! It was more than a hit, it started a whole scene back in the day! People giving themselves whiplash listening to this fr! Dope reaction as always BIG STAX, don't let that "imposter syndrome" tell you anything, you're dope AF! 💯
No idea what group is coming next, but I'm here for it!💯
💜💜🔥🔥
I remember hearing reading an interview from the vocalist of a famous heavy metal band at the time that I can’t remember who it was, but they mentioned that the moment they heard this song when it came out, said how he knew the age of heavy metal that was already at a decline was over with this song and a new age will arise that year, and it did with the explosive growth of grudge and punk rock.
This is the song that changed the rock world, Kurt Cobain was brilliant
🙏🙏🙏
In the early 1990s, four bands emerged from the obscure Seattle underground, and revolutionized the rock music scene. They were:
Nirvana
Alice In Chains
Pearl Jam
Soundgarden
Collectively, they were known as “Grunge.”
And of course, there were plenty more. But that’s a good starting point.
Please check out all four of these legendary bands. I promise you won’t regret it.
🙏🙏🙏
This song was released when I was 13 and like others have said, completely blew our minds. I went from listening to hair metal and pop in 7th grade to diving head first into grunge by the end of 8th grade 😅
I love many bands and some more than Nirvana, but they're definitely in my top 10. This entire album was simply incredible to listen to at the time (and even nowadays tbh)!
💙💙💙
❤ Nirvana is always great...love how you enjoy them 😊
The best!
I find it incredibly hard to listen to this song without hearing the Weird Al lyrics in my head! It’s hard to bargle nargle zous with all these marbles in my mouth…
I SO second the idea of Weird Al Wednesdays! Both the real version and the Weird Al version in the same vid would be chef’s kiss 🧑🍳 perfect 🔥!!!
🙏🙏🙏
Also, please follow this up with Weird Al's Smells Like Nirvana.
Awesome homie
Thanks for the visit
This was the death of 80s hair metal bands.
Welcome grunge, Doc Martin's and mosh pits.🔥
🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🔥🤘🏽
Just got home from work & was so excited to see this! What up Stax!
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@StaxReacts I did brother fs it was a great reaction 9/10 🫡 I’m only giving 9 cause I’ve seen you do a lot of 10’s my boy! 💯
addictive vibe :)
🙏
This song is the anthem of Gen X . Drummer Dave Grohl is the lead singer or now and has been for 28 years. After the Lead Singer Kurt Cobain died under mysterious circumstances. This song brought out a whole new generation of grunge music and lifestyle. R.I.P. Kurt Cobain. NIRVANA THE BEATLES OF GEN X
🙏🙏🙏
This song destroyed Cock-rock. 1991. It really changed things in popular music for the entirety of the '90s. The label "grunge" is partly a media invention. These guys were the Beatles of grunge.
🔥🔥🔥🙏🙏
Just this symphony I goin - TFOT
The song that killed hair metal
1000%.
🔥🔥🔥🙏🙏
No It didn't guns long Did that
They just stomped on the rotting corpse it was long dead and smelling
We’re talking about Kurt Cobain and nirvana people pls stop with the weird Al it’s almost disrespectful. Rip KC
Kurt said he never felt like he had truly “made it,” until Weird Al covered him.
Love it!
Thanks!!
School by Nirvana
If you fall into the grunge rabbit hole, definitely look up the other big Seattle grunge bands. You won’t regret it
Pearl Jam- Black, mtv unplugged version.
Soundgarden- Slaves & Bulldozers, studio
Alice In Chains- Love Hate Love, live at the Moore.
🙏🙏🙏
You have no idea how big this song was and brought a whole new era of music check out the mtv unplugged of where did you sleep last night other bands to check out pearl jam and mother love bone
💪🏽🔥🙏
Cool to see you explore this genre. Grunge was formative for a lot of us Gen X kids. Maybe try "Bury Me" or "I am One" by the Smashing Pumpkins?
Added!
Heart Shaped Box for next Nirvana
💙💙💙
Fantastic reaction Stax🔥🔥🔥🔥 to a banger 🔥
🙏🙏🙏
I love your shirt 🎽. I love watching you get into your groove❤❤❤❤❤ may I make a crazy suggestion. Led Zeppelin whole Lotta Love😂😂😂😂
Rock on! Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏
Soundgarden - Tighter and tighter 🌲
There's a Nirvana rabbit hole you can go down. I think you'd really like 311 if you gave them a shot!
🙏🙏🙏
I don't know if anyone has already mentioned this but "Teen Spirit" was a deodorant for girls at the time. There were always commercials for it on tv.
I didn’t know that
Stax finding the 90s seatle grunge scene finally wait till he hears soundgarden and alice in chains
🙏🙏🙏
I remember the 1st & 2nd time I heard this song. I'm sure someone's posted that the drummer is Dave Grohl from The Foo Fighters.
🙏🙏🙏
Moon rocks on mars by Red Museum
Get to the weird al parody ASAP smells like nirvana and nirvana loved that version more than their original song
Weird AL definitely knows how to parody a popular song😆... his lyrics and funny spin is iconic😎
Epic parody
🙏🙏🙏
@@StaxReactsI would totally watch a "Weird Al Wednesday" series where you react to a song and it's parody.
gross
💚💚💚💚💚
💙💙💙💙
A good place to start with Nirvana. This is not their best song, but it was quite successful. They have a lot of other great and niche songs worth listening to. Their In Utero album has some REALLY aggressive and nihilist songs.
No excuses Alice In Chains
Good morning ....I know your into the old school hip hop and rap . You absolutely have to do these two Eric B and Rakim tracks...I ain't no joke and Microphone Fiend. I promise they are both straight fire. Thanks bro, you are awesome, keep up the fantastic work.
I will for sure
@@StaxReacts I'm an old school fanatic myself and grew up loving hip hop and rap and trust me bro , Eric B and Rakim are dope.
Rakim is just smooth bro . Awesome. Thanks for replying back to me. Your the man !
After midnight - J minus
Stax this album is 🔥🔥🔥but this song is catchy and dark at the same time...the label signed them and wanted a hit for the crossover. This was their middle finger and ironically became the hit for the crossover 😂😅 Your also about to get request for Foo Fighters, just a heads up
💜💜🔥🔥
5 min alone by Pantera
Pear Jam an there first video Even Flow is amazing, very high energy. Think you would love it!!@
I'll check it out!
It's about being an awkward teenager
🙏🙏🔥🔥
Yo Stax, if you're looking for Live performances, I got 3 for ya. Iron Maiden "Fear of the Dark" (Live @ Rock In Rio.) Megadeth "Symphony of Destruction" (Live in Argentina) And Judas Priest "Electric Eye" (Live @ San Antonio Civic Center '83)
All have been added to my list thank you
Like 👍 Number 300. Comment Number 150. Lyrics by the late Kurt Cobain. Music by Nirvana.
Kathleen Hanna the singer of Bikini Kill and Kurt Cobain were drunk 🥴. He fell asleep. Hanna wrote Smells Like Teen Spirit on the wall because his girlfriend drummer 🥁 Tobi Vail often wore the deodorant Teem Spirit! L 🤣 L
Suggested video 📹: 1 Nirvana performs Sappy. 2 Foo Fighters perform There Goes My Hero
🙏🙏🙏
check out weird al smells like nirvana
Great song but still not one of my requests.
🤞maybe tomorrow🤞
🙏🙏

Will add to the list Simon thank you
Alice In Chains , Would
Have you watched the documentary on HBO MAX
*Stax Soulsville USA?*
I have not
Dream Theater…. Pull me under
🙏🙏🔥🔥🔥
and now look at the version that Weird Al Yankovic did of this song czcams.com/video/FklUAoZ6KxY/video.html
It’s mocking that high school vibe ( and music) and from what I’ve heard more specifically a diss at guns and roses….
Yesssss and I didn’t know that
Creeping death by Metallica
In case they look similar - Nirvana’s drummer is not the guitar and vocals for Foo Fighters.
Just sayin’
Gotcha
@@StaxReacts ha. I meant he is NOW the guitar & vocals. Curse thee, autocorrect. ;0)
Nickelback
Funny you request that it’s dropping today actually!!!!
@@StaxReacts 7:57
Nickelback?
🙏🙏
Can't see the video at all... wth
Do you even pay attention to the intros dude, CZcams blocks them so I have to blur it. The point of the reaction is for me to hear the audio. Go watch the original video and stop complaining.
No. The point of me watching is to see you watching and reacting to the video. Ive seen the original myself. Why would i give a shit to watch someone watch/hear a song and video im not familar with.
@@livinginstereo it 100% isn’t. Like I said you don’t have to watch. End of discussion.
@StaxReacts dont react if you cant accept criticism
@@livinginstereo if I couldn’t accept criticism I wouldn’t be where I’m at now🤭 nice try
NOOOO weird Al!!! No!!
Weird Al ftw!!!
Thanks, Stax....
Any time!
I was in college when this came out. Lucky to have seen them twice in concert in lovely Lawrence, Kansas. Happy Days. RCJH.❤💙
