    No talking, just walking. Exploring the English Countryside. A nice gentle walk around the village of Grindleford. A small village, lies 7 miles from Sheffield and lies in the Valley of the river Derwent. We meander through the village, crossing the river before heading up to Upper Padley, A lovely walk. Do enjoy :)

    About Dave's Walks
    Hi there, I‘m Dave! I've lived in the English Countryside all my life, and I love it! I enjoy walking, and couldn’t help but notice just how beautiful the UK can be away from the cities. I found myself inspired and decided to get some camera equipment and make some walking videos so I can share my walks of the beautiful countryside with everyone!
    I will mainly focus on small towns, villages, picturesque landscapes, rolling hills and mountains, forests and canals, all along the coastlines in England, Scotland, Wales, and who knows maybe one day further afar!
    I upload every Sunday 11.45am GMT (3.45am PST) (6.45am EST) (5.15pm IST) (9.15pm ACST)

    I use the free version of Davinci Resolve 16 to do some really basic editing. Mainly making sure the sky isn't over exposed. It's from Camera straight to CZcams. No cuts, no fancy business, no talking, just walking.

    This walk took me back to my youth and my first job at the Maynard Arms Hotel. I left school at the age of fourteen and trained as a S/S Waiter, working ninety hours a week and I was paid £5. 8/- a week. This hotel had a secret staircase leading from the first floor into a field below. Not many people were aware of its existence. Grindleford isn't the village's real name, it's the name of the bridge that you crossed. It's real name is Padley, its divided into Upper and Nether Padley. When I worked there the Railway Station was lit by gas lamps and the telephone number of the hotel was 321. The bus service from Sheffield to Bakewell was route 40. One of the pensioners from the village used to come in to bake the most magnificent Bakewell tarts, we sold hundreds of portions of the stuff. I trained under head waiter Tom Connoly, who had worked at the top London hotels. Brilliant man and I'll never forget this old school character.

      Ah this is wonderful to read John! Had no idea Grindleford is actually the name of the bridge. And oh boy I do love a Bakewell Tart. Thanks for sharing this with us all, I can only imagine what it must of looked like lit up with Gas Lamps!

    I love these villages .. couldn't help but notice that this walk was near Padley Gorge, and you've marked that red in your google maps as something you want to do. Maybe foreshadowing for next Sunday .. guess we have to wait and see.

      So Padley George is very much on my to do list, Unfortunately this time round, none of the trees had leaves so I have opted to wait until later in the year. But I did have a walk around, I think it will make for an excellent video, Quite excited to go back!

    Hi Dave. How about the person with the grinder? They were probably waiting for you to start your walk. You showed some fancy footwork crossing the busy and windy main road, while keeping the video on track. Interesting mix of different era buildings here. Nice to see they are in keeping with the character of the area. You must have legs like a mountain goat after tackling those hills. Always appreciate your thoughtful efforts.

      It is often that people will wait for me to start filming before endeavouring to be loud and noisy for me. Haha mountain goat legs when I am on a walk, but once I get home, they often turn into jelly legs! Glad you enjoyed the video Joe! 😊

    Great video.
    I am shocked the dji equipment you use does not stabilise those bounces.

    • @joeswanderings
      @joeswanderings Před 3 lety +1

      I like the bounces. It is a walk after all, and not a glide.

    • @DavesWalks
      @DavesWalks  Před 3 lety +1

      I do strive and am always mindful to keep the bounce on the minimum, and compared to various equipment I have tried, I have found the DJI to be the best of what is out there, certainly not perfect, I also have a naturally large stride which works against me. Even my first set up which was upwards of £2000 didn't eliminate the bounce. (had to sell as it was simply to big and heavy for me to use) If the bounce is breaking the immersion for you, I strongly suggest checking out the channel @IcelandHotSpots. His walking videos are fantastically silky smooth. 😊
