- Travel guides are a fantastic source of collage fodder and your local visitor's center or tourist bureau just might be willing to support your artistic endeavors! Drop by and ask if you can put some their outdated or excess publications to good use.

I enjoy seeing what other people harvest and hearing your thought process as for what to keep.
I enjoy that too!
travel brochures are so useful in so many ways - sometimes when they have those little 1" square images - i cut them out and create Faux Postage Stamps - thank you Shannon 🤗🤗
Brilliant idea!
I get viator guides from states all over the country. I went online and did a search. Almost all of the states have magazine brochures. Great resource for free 'zines.
Thank you for the video. I have been collecting material for over a year (probably had a couple hundred magazines and catalogs). I go through and cut occasionally but I get stuck on what to cut and how to store after cutting. Right now I have ziploc gallon bags.
I’ve used bags, envelopes, sheet protectors in binders, and now file folders. Use what works for you at the time!
Just watching again, and I'm so glad you met my awesome nephew, Cody with a K❤️
He’s pretty darn awesome!
Shannon so enjoyed you sharing you’re process harvesting these magazines, love that you are collecting for you’re Mama ❤ loved seeing the beads at the end too. Thank you so much for sharing. ♻️
Thanks so much for watching Janet!
Thank you for the info, driving down to Kissimmee next week and going to be making a lot of stops just for the books lol … TFS 😘😘😘😘😘
Heck yeah!!
Have a great week Shannon!
Thanks Angie, you too!
Great video, Shannon, thank you! Your comments on the slide-y cutter got a big OH YEAH from me, by the way. I've been frustrated by mine but haven't wanted to get a guillotine cutter. A rotary! Yes!!!
It’s a little more effort but totally worth it!
Love going to the visitor’s center. However - I am totally jelly over your Scout Guide find. They are never free in the Smokies - if you want them - they are $15. However - free in Chattanooga all day long. Makes me happy when I find them…but I would love to find the one for where I live.
It’s like looking for that special egg at the Easter Egg Hunt!
Great suggestions!! 🐞💖
Thanks for watching!
My neice lives in Fayetteville so I've been to several thrift stores in the area but didn't think of going to visitor info centers. (It's random so people don't believe that I've been to the Crystal Bridges art museum at least 3 times.)
Crystal Bridges is awesome!! Next time you’re here pop in to Experience Fayetteville on the square.
Awesomeness. Makes me want to make more beads🤪
Addictive lil suckers!
Hi Shannon! Was fun to watch the harvest! You got some good ones. I am curious about those bead tube things, what are they used for?
I use them to make containers like these boxes:

@@ShannonGreen thank you! Love the boxes! Looks like a fun project. May have to try one!
A neighbor gave me one of those files you put together with weekly minigazines. This one was called On Four Wheels. It had about 40 minizines. Just to give you an idea of age, each minizine inserts into the file with a metal rod. So top and bottom of the file are these metal receivers for the rods. They went back to about 1929 and it was British. So I got great pics of cars like the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. I cannot wait to make a journal with a travel theme. Thanks for the advice of travel centers. Perhaps a few digi kits with vintage people and cars would be good.
Sorry, i just wanted to share my good luck with someone and thought you would understand. Much love C
That sounds fabulous!
Absolutely!
@@ShannonGreen thank you!
First! (I feel like a 15 yo now, so thanks for that!). Sitting down with my coffee to watch you harvest on this cold but sunny morning. I need to find some mags for a project I'm doing so I will live through you vicariously. And BTW, a huge CONGRATS to your artist-in-res gig at the library next fall. I'm on the lookout for pics for young people for you! P.S. At 10:28 we *both* said out loud "I need that WHOLE page!!!"
😂😂😂 Thanks so much for watching my friend!
Shannon I mentioned your name, not sure why it's left out...But.. I have my original interview. Yes, Cody is my nephew. Wow, you did great with my aka's...lol✌🏻😉
😄 Thanks for tuning in!
💟
Do you follow Liz Huey on YT???? she added B & W words cut in haLf longways into her collages, and it's so cool!!!!!!
Oh that sounds awesome I’ll have give her a visit!
@@ShannonGreen She's right up your alley .
Shannon Green, you little troublemaker you! After watching your video, the other day, I did order the guide from Oklahoma about Indian country in spite of the fact that I am trying to downsize my treasures! I did my Mass...I can't even think of the name now, but you know the book you showed us with pages of different items on each page? What is that name and who took my mind? I made mine out of that great big Oklahoma guide several years ago, I ordered a lot of items then but this time I kept it to the one brochure. Oklahoma does make beautiful guides.
😂😂😂 En Masse! You cracked me up!!
bro~enjoyed,what a superb , talk you later~=))
Thanks for watching!
