I read Aika was the only one who mentored 9th and 10th generation. She deserved to be a leader or at least one song for graduation, like Ai, Reina, Risa and Sayumi
Her graduation was kinda abrupt. They were giving Risa all the special grad treatment and then all of a sudden you heard she was graduating too. At least they gave her a graduation outfit and let her have a graduation song to perform.

They were remodeling the group to be dance-centric, doing the formation dance thing and I think they found out that she had a condition where she had weak bones, which is why she kept getting injured, and they had to put her out the group.
I think it was because as a sole generation member, the fans were waiting for a new maki goto or at least a new koharu kusumi (not vocally talented, but charismatic, funny, pretty and popular). And also in the audition there were girls like Kikkawa You, who was well received by the fandom because of her voice and her appearance. Unfortunately the fandom was so rude to Aika because she didn't fulfill their expectations :(

I don't get why many people say Aika is untalented. It's true she didn't start strong but she improved in everything fast in short time.
