Best strategy I found was I would only take one step with my right, plant with my left and bang it low corner. Like 30% of the time side net and so hard for the goalie to make a commitment in such a quick move, I'd convert at least 90% in practice. Also such a small movement can be muscle memory trained easily, and it had little chance to open the hips so much as to miss the target. Furthermore is a personal story if you're still interested. My senior year of high school we had 7 penalties over the course of the season not a single converted by 7 different players. In fact I believe only one was on target. I was pissed I didn't get to take one at all. I was new to the team, and a lot of the players had it out for me as I was new to the team, and better than them all. Even as a defender. There was only one player that gave me respect and he was a freshman so good on the ball but small and slower than average, still the next best to me. The worst was our first was in a pre season tournament final match against my former team (JV team) lol as my new team was far inferior, and I wanted it so badly as my relationship with their coach was sour. We would have gone up 3-1, but ended up losing 3-2 because momentum went their way. It was the only one I asked to take all season as a defender and because I knew nobody who stepped up would give up the chance to score as they all wanted to personally score more than they wanted a score. The worst TEAM I ever played on. I am always pass first. I'd rather assist than score anyway. Much more rewarding, as a brilliant pass gives another the opportunity to celebrate as much as me. And aren't the best moments in life better when shared with another?

As usual, you guys did a terrific video. The Panenka move is underrated. Yes, there is some risk, but statistics support the risk. Most goalies are going to expect to move left or right with a penalty shot. Statistically, all things being equal, the shot down the middle is the best move.
Um no. Usually a player willing to go middle likes to stare down the goalie. I played goalie a lage part of my playing days, so When you have a guy who likes to go down the middle it is usually readable in everything he does on the pitch prior to the kick. Only first few minutes against unfamiliar opponents is when you should try the middle. Otherwise, there at least like 10 and a half to 11 feet between the goalie and either post as most humans (especially soccer/futbol players) aren't wide bodied. He can't be on both sides so shooting to one side especially if accurate enough, will convert much more often. Its simple logistics

@@fsdts If they are a little cocky and selfish in build up play they will have the tendency to shoot in the middle more than a team player. It's just psychology. A show boater prefers the the flashiest option possible regardless of circumstance. Whereas the team player emphasizes success for the group as opposed to garnering attention. So a player who wants to shoot from open play whenever he has the ball as opposed to take a more logical team oriented approach, is the player more likely to shoot center on a penalty. It's not a guarantee but it's typical in their character traits. Hopefully that helps. Good luck
@@fsdts I guess their technique isn't really able to be determined pre kick, however the tendency to shoot middle is usually predictable based on his approach to the game, is all I was trying to say. Hopefully I didn't confuse that. The selfishness of a player in build up play, and in particular around the box is usually the factor that correlates with a penalty taker who has the tendency to shoot center
I would sometimes agree since I always score in the middle but today I didn’t but what do you say! A school legend has to miss a goal to earn his title “penaldo”.

A thing that helps me a lot while shooting a penalty , is studying the keepers during the match.
Each goalkeeper has a weak spot.
And as clubs look mostly for tall keepers (in this young age as I am not even 15 lol) placing the ball in the bottom corner in that weak spot ends the deal.

I invented a technique that has been always successful. Start running fast to the ball with left arm high, body bend to this side too. The goalkeeper will 'know' where you wanna shoot☺ Then change your foot to inner side and let the ball go to the other side.
Very smart trick that confuses every goalkeeper.
