Welcome back and today we take you on a flight from Skardu to Islamabad with PIA - Pakistan's airline that is banned in Europe, USA and UK. In 2020 it emerged that the airline had in fact over 150 pilots with FAKE licences! The airline has since been doing a lot to repair their reputation.
We were lucky enough to experience in our opinion - THE most BEAUTIFUL flight in the world and were 2 of only 11 passengers on board.
Without a doubt this flight experience is the best flight either of us have ever been on and you will see why!

@@AshAndDan.Not only PIA helped Emirates start their business by leasing them their own 2 airplanes for flights in the start but also trained them in everything from flight operations to ground operations and crew etc. Trained Gulf air, Air Oman and few in east Asia as well. PIA was one of top airlines in 60 and 70s but gradually declined with time due to mismanagement. Still it is the first airline to receive 777-LR aircraft from Boeing and I guess still holds the record of longest flight which was between Hong Kong and London of 22 hours in 2005.

PIA is one of the safest airlines in the world, safer than most European countries, but unfortunately, European countries are always in search of creating negativity about Pakistan.
Their media always present Pakistan as a dangerous country, having terrorism and war everywhere, which is very unfortunate. You beautiful guys please be satisfied, everything will be proved wrong when you will be leaving Pakistan. We wish you to come back to Pakistan again and again. Enjoy, guys.

PIA certainly have faced some problems in the past and have had negative attention but we heard they are trying to improve and regain their reputation - for example only specially trained pilots are allowed to fly certain routes due to the skill required. We had a positive experience during our flight ☺️

£50 for this flight is a lottery. People in Britain will be willing to even pay £500 if they know what they are gonna see. Even ordinary train from London to Birmingham costs £50.
Pakistan needs to improve facilities in north Pakistan to boost tourism. There is so much to see here. Pakistan can easily attract 2 million British tourists per year if they fix these basic shortcomings.
You are right, we were surprised at the price too, we had expected it to be much more - we paid almost the same price for the 17 hour car journey to Gilgit.
We do hope our vlogs will find the right people to show the beauty of Pakistan and this will allow for more tourists to visit.

My family lived in Pakistan 🇵🇰 ( Lahore ) in the mid 70s before emigrating to Canada, Pakistan is beautiful country to explore and the people are most hospitable in the world . Enjoy your visit there and i hope you guys do make another visit to Pakistan in the near future .
You opinion about PIA looks very confused so let me make it clear for you PIA Landed in London Heathrow Airport first time in 1948, this was the first Asian airline which flown Twin engines Aircrafts first time in Asia, On 25 October 1985, Emirates operated its very first flights from Dubai to Karachi and Mumbai, using a Boeing 737 and an Airbus 300 B4 wet‑leased from Pakistan International Airlines hence Emirates IATA code is EK which means Emirates Karachi.

A suggestion to PIA would be that they should announce it during the flight when the plane is flying over K2 and Nanga Parbat. That would make it an even more exciting flight.

Due to safety concerns and issues with pilots having fake pilot licences, we heard that PIA have been working hard to repair their reputation. Our experience was super positive and we enjoyed our flight 😄
You have a 30% chance of your pilot using credentials they don't possess. - Aerotimes - "An investigation by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority revealed that 40% of pilots in the country, or 262 out of 860 active Pakistani pilots, held fake pilot licenses and had not sat the pilot exams themselves. Initially, Air Marshal Asghar Khan and then Air Marshal Nur Khan two of the best Officers handed over to us in 1947 alongwith some extremely efficient workers were instrumental in taking PIA to great heights - the famous slogan coined by Omer Kureshi - "Great People to fly with" brought joy and happiness to the people of Pakistan.
This is certainly one of your best vlogs. I love the energy that both of you emit, especially Ash. She was sooo excited that it was infectious for a person like me sitting comfortably in my room. Love it.
If possible, I will definitely try to take this amazing flight, insha'Allah.
May be I will do the opposite, i.e, fly from Islamabad to Skardu and then drive back :))

Absolutely stunning views! Your guys airbnb is a few minutes walk from where I used to stay during my Uni days 2017-2022... Theres a really delicious BBQ restaurant in E11/3 I would recommend!
Ah cool! We stayed around here for 2 weeks in 2 separate apartments and tried quite a few local places - some super delicious BBQ food! 🍗🤤

Where was that K2, you didn't mention it, all the mountains seemed the same 🤔
Yes, in hindsight we should have each sat at opposite sides of the plane to try and see K2 also - but we were advised when we boarded this was the best side to see the mountains 😅

@@gulqureshi5681 From Skardu to Islamabad when plane reaches Astore Nangaparbat area, it faces South (slightly south west). In the left hand side window you will see Nangaparbat and mountains to the east and Northeast. K2 lies North East of Nangaparbat on China border which is what you see in this video. I suggest you to download Google Earth and try to understand my point in 3D. I trekked from Taobat to Deosai via Minimerg. From Deosai both Nangaparbat and K2 are visible on clear days.

I travel in the same flight to skardu in january 2023 in winter,there was fog so wasn't able to capture scenery but hatsoff to pilots who landed safely despite worst weather conditions.
I traveled from skardo to Islamabad great experience scenic flight ever, enjoyed alot, recomended rout

Frenkly speaking PIA Pilots are way more trained, experienced and capable than Ryan Air and Easy Jet pilots in Uk where 20,22 years old school kids are flying these aircrafts with Zero experience.

I understand the desire for views, but it's disheartening to see the same headlines being used over and over by most western vloggers, it can come across as disrespectful to our country, additionally you are featuring video clips from Indian media, which by itself has a very biased view about Pakistan and this doesn't portray us in the best light.
Let's strive for engaging content that uplifts and educates rather than sensationalizing your content for more views.
Our country has so much to offer, and you both should showcase it with pride and admiration.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. Our reason behind the thumbnail vs the actual vlog is to showcase the true experience we had vs what the media portrays - we had a 100% positive experience with PIA.
Funnily enough the onboard service we received was better than that of most European, UK and US carriers 👍 hopefully this explains the reason

Those licences were not fake but the renewal of the some pilots were were not done. WPA and IATA needs the pilots to renew the license every 3 years and some lazy pilots didn't sit in the exam and didn't renew their license and that was the diffrence. I am working in London in IT industry and I need to renew my license every 3 years as well but I didn't for the last 14 years and no one cares. They need your experience not your license, and alot of time those licences are just to get revenue for the IATA and WPA.
a valid license represents that the owner is still of sound mind, capable of sound judgement and performing their job up-to the mark.
I don't know which branch of the IT you are in but, a pilot's job is much more critical, where mistakes can lead to death of everyone onboard and on ground, as it did on 22 May 2020 , which could've been easily avoided if SoPs had been followed.
It is the chronic lack of professionalism and lack of sense of responsibility towards their job (aka rampant corruption) that has lead Pakistan to the state it's currently in.
typically Pakistani answer; very sad! rule of law means nothing to the vast majority; that's how we have lost credibilty and reputation and business; how can we prosper?

Hi Ahmed! Thanks for your comment 😊 Airblue fly the route too if you don’t want to fly PIA.
We stayed in a guest house called Pyramid lodge and the stay was great, our host Hussein was super friendly and helpful. We were here in March so it was still a bit cold after the winter and we were just a couple weeks too early for the blossom season. Also many places were closed due to it being early in the season.
The roads in Skardu were fine from Gilgit but the road to Gilgit if you choose to take the KKH is very dangerous with many landslides happening often 🥲 hope this helps!

You are right this is Nanga Parbat at 24:50 i think you missed K2 i think it would'v been seen from the other side. Nevertheless 2 Majestic peaks.
I guess it would have made more sense for us to switch sides during the flight but we didn't want to take our eyes away from the view haha

We didn’t make fun, we actually loved our flight! We just highlighted the reputation they have. However, the experience we had when flying was great and we would definitely recommend this airline ✈️🇵🇰

March to September full flights from Islamabad to Skardu
October to mid January full flights from Skardu to Islamabad
April half full from Skardu to Islamabad , May to September full both sides
In winter locals flew from Skardu to Islamabad and in summers they returned back to Skardu
However April to September and now October are tourist season
PIA is one of best airline out there buddy
We had an awesome experience with PIA 😎 really enjoyed our flight and we would fly with them again
