      They go crazy low. I know on Untamed they went hella low to the point it was painful. Especially my thighs were semi crushed by the end of the ride. Despite being nearly stapled I still had crazy amount of air time. Then again I'm 5ft4 and weigh about 100lbs. Those shinguards are a pain too.

      Have you seen how much the prices have gone up this year? Orlando are pricing people out the game.
      Pre-pandemic, we went every year, but car hire has TRIPLED in cost, flights doubled, hotels more than doubled, and I'm thinking villas will have gone right up too (we currently have one on hold).
      Our car hire for 3 weeks is usually ÂŁ1k, and it's now ÂŁ3k! WTH?! We'd be ÂŁ12k for flights villa and car hire alone. That's insane. They're pricing people out the game. How do they think that's going to bring the tourist trade back?
      It's my fave place in the world, but I refuse to be ripped-off. Its probably OK if you've pre-booked and had things on hold for 2 years.

      @@lindatannock I live in Florida and can tell you why the costs have gone up, most of it having something to do with the aftermath of the pandemic: 1) the housing market has increased significantly because of all the people who now work from home have decided to move to the state because there's no state taxes here and housing is cheaper than the states they were living in prior, thus driving up the cost of rent as well. 2) newer cars are in high demand, and thus more expensive, because of the lack of new vehicles on the market, as most new cars are still waiting for their computer chips (which are behind in production from all of the manufacturing plants that were shut down during COVID-19). 3) Flights are more expensive as well because of fuel costs, which OPEC is blaming on supply chain issues caused by the pandemic. Oh, and there's always 4) greedy bastards using COVID-19 as an excuse to price gouge all of us!

    Even though it may result in a walk of shame, with RMC's, still give it a go on the ride itself to see if you fit. On Steel Vengeance at Cedar Point, the test seat said no but I did fit on the ride itself with an extra push from the attendant. Also, if you don't have a rigid belly, you can sometimes "lift" your tummy a little to get that extra inch. I'm 6'0" and 320 and just managed to fit. Hope this helps in the future.

    I’m a 5’6 female and 205 pounds and I haven’t had a problem fitting in first gen RMC trains like those seen on Wicked Cyclone and others. Raptors are the most accompanying models by RMC so rides like Jersey Devil Coaster are very comfortable for someone of my size. However Iron Gwazi utilizes second generation hybrid trains. I’ve done two RMCs with these trains, Steel Vengeance and Twisted Timbers, and that was in 2019 so I’ve gained a bit of weight since then. The restraints remind me a lot of the least fat-friendly coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure (my home park), which is El Toro. I really have to squeeze in that ride and the tight squeeze makes the experience really painful. Coasters like these are a big motivation for weight loss

    THANK YOU! Your videos help me so much. I'm 6'2" 280ish I've fit on most RMC's have not been to BGT yet for Iron Gwazi. From my experience, If you're Squishy you have a better chance than if you are solid. The more you're able to lift your stomach the better your chances. Another thing to keep in mind is that "I" Never trust the test seats, there are many that have slightly different "fits", and in some cases the test seats are intentionally smaller to not hold up the dispatching procedure. If you have no problem with potentially being asked to exit w/o riding I would always suggest trying the real thing, not the test seat. Also, always take time to watch which ops are going the extra mile to get people in. Never sit on the side with the tiny little person who has no weight to use to get you in. Finally, some "good" ops know which seats are a little more forgiving and if you ask them before you're already on the train they might help you with that. (I got on Wicked Twister FINALLY 'cause the ops saw me and directed me to a particular seat.

    I've worked at about 6 parks in my time in the industry and about half of that was in ride ops. I wish these videos would have been around in my earlier years as they are so helpful for so many people. As a ride op it's never easy telling someone the unfortunate news that they can't ride. And it's not always from being overweight. I've had professional athletes and celebrities on my vip tours that I had to say, "sorry man. You're too buff," or whatever the situation was. There was blogger down here when HP & the Forbidden Journey documented his journey. It was all over the new and everything. This is helpful for many people who don’t pay attention to these test seats. A lot of taller people even have a hard time riding these RMCs due to the tight shin area.
    It’s really not unusual for seatbelts to get secured first before being able to bring down the bar. This allows the ride ops to check and make sure each seatbelt is secured on each rider. Then once everyone’s belt is checked, they will give the thumbs up for the operator in charge of the control panel to unlock the lap bars for riders to pull down over them. It’s a common safety protocol on all wooden coasters and on other coasters that require seatbelts.

    I'm 6'0" and 245 lbs. I was able to ride, but it was a tight fit and for my first go they had to come back and push my lap bar down another notch to get it to clear. It ended up pinching my stomach in a way that made the ride pretty bad. When I returned I was able to position my belly fat more comfortably and loved the remaining 3 times I got to ride it. But for sure it is not an accommodating seat by any means. And it's so weird having no kind of handle or anything to hold onto as well.

    • @lindatannock
      @lindatannock Pƙed 2 lety +7

      I don't like the look of seats tbh. Just watching videos, I didn't think it would be comfortable for larger or taller guests at all. I really don't like the fact they've not put handles to hold on to. I think that'll put a lot of people off tbh. I'm a huge coaster fan, but that really bothers me. I occasionally do a "hands-up", but want to be able to hold on, as it stops me getting thrown around. I have disabilities, so I'd rather hold on to feel more secure.

      @@lindatannock It looks bad, but I'm 6'4" and 191lbs. Athletic slim build. I've ridden a couple of RMCs (Steel Vengeance, New Texas Giant, Outlaw Run, Twisted Cyclone) and I thought the same thing based off the look, but it's one of the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in. Their are places to hold on to, but they are not traditional bars and it really adds to the thrill of the experience. As someone above mentioned I could see it being uncomfortable because of the forces on the ride if you're of a larger size. I know we all want to ride these amazing coasters, but I would not recommend someone force themself on by being stapled to the seat on any RMC. They are just to forceful.

      Disagree. Most of the time people are fat because they consume too much food and drink. If you want to go on a ride that doesn't allow your weight, then exercise. It would definitely benefit the person who wants to ride because not only will they be able to ride roller coasters, but they will be much healthier. When I go to Kings Dominion with friends sometimes they can ride and other times they can't because of the fit. Thank you so much for putting out this content. First time I’ve seen one of your videos, but I think it’s really important to cover these topics as RMCs can be very difficult to fit into. In my own experience with several RMCs, each seat on the train varies from the next. Sometimes it’s the seatbelt, sometimes it’s the sensor on the lap bar. You can fit in one spot earlier in the day and then do the walk of shame later on in the afternoon. Keep up the hard work

    RMC attractions are so amazing, except for the trains. For such forceful and relentless rides, to choose a smaller seat and restraint design is an odd choice. Yes, shorter and younger riders are able to get on earlier with a smaller height restriction than the likes of a B&M ride, but it's a shame that taller and larger riders have a harder time. I am 6ft 3, average build, and find I have bruised thighs and shins after riding, especially from the taller and longer RMC's such as Zadra and Steel Vengeance. Great video.

    I'm big - 6' 4" and 275 lb. I have fit on all the RMC's so far (hoping for Gwazi this summer), but typically not in the front row of the 2-row cars. The seat belt is shorter in the front seat for some reason (Colossus, Joker, Storm Chaser, Vengeance) but the 2nd row is longer. I can't get the front belt - not even close. 2nd row is tight, sometimes need a little help with the latch. The bar is TIGHT and generally I need a good push or two from a ride op. Once it gets a green, I'm not really uncomfortable... but certainly not tight enough to spoil the experience. I find that the test seats are dialed in tighter than the real thing, yes, it is to discourage lost load time with those who clearly aren't going to fit. With Colossus, any load delay ruins the chance for a good dueling ride. At my height, I fail to fit many rides that have over-the-shoulder restraints... they can't close as they hit my shoulders. Nice that some of those rides (Medusa, others) have "bear seats" usually at the middle of the train that have longer straps. Be sure to ask the ops if the ride has any large seats if you think you might be tight...

  • @Kilbaneisking
    @Kilbaneisking Pƙed 2 lety +1

    Looks exactly like the Steel Vengeance seat, so if they are in fact the same requirements I'll add in my experience on that one as a help out. I'm 6'0" 225-230 lbs and although very tight I do fit in that style RMC. Most of my weight is in my belly, my thighs and rear aren't overly large for my frame, but my belly sticks out from my front noticeably. I found Steel Vengeance tight on my gut and i definitely require a minor staple job, but its tolerable. The ride experience earlier in the day definitely beat up my thighs a fair amount, my ride later on in the day found me literally breathless in spots. It knocked the wind out of me. I'm nit sure if Iron Gwazi is as intense as SteVe, but if it is and you are similar to me in Size expect a fun intense ride, but be prepared to lose your breath on the ejector airtime spots. Hope this helps some of you and I wish you all the best of luck with IG.

    Absolutely love to see this type of content! Very informative. I’ve been on a total of 4 RMCs. In order they’ve been Twisted Timbers, Steel Vengeance, Iron Rattler, and Wonder Woman Golden Lasso. As far as Timbers at the time of riding I was 5’ 10” 290lbs. Test seat and station seat were a breeze. Was able to load myself. SV was last summer in 2021. 5’ 10” and 305lbs. Test seat was a fight but the station seat was easier. The tests seats seem to be spring loaded so they always come back up. So you’re always fighting it. The split second and I mean split second I got the green on SV the ride attendant let up off the the restraint and said “oh you might fit”. I marched up to the station and it only took one small push to get me in. They definitely make the test seats more difficult. Which brings me to the gerstlauer RMC trains on Iron Rattler. Winter 2021. Same height, 310lbs. Test seat, same story. Put the bar down to see the minimum and it was unreal. But at this time the ride attendant at the entrance to Rattler saw me and said “Yea the ride vehicle seats are much more forgiving.” She said the sensors are way off and not close to the real thing. Get to the station and the seats were stupid comfortable and such an easy fit. I could load myself with no extra push or help. Which is rare on other RMCs. So gerstlauer RMC trains, in my one experience, easy fit. Both times I rode it. Very consistent with the fit. Then WWGL was same day and measurements. Very easy fit with room to spare. But the constant in all these experiences, the station seats were always more comfortable and felt more accommodating. You’re spot on about the proportions and distribution. If it’s not one things it the other. So to anyone who made it this far, don’t always trust the test seats. If you have the time I recommend giving it a shot. Especially if you think it’s close. And if it’s not, oh well! Use that as fuel to lose the weight and get that redemption ride! That’s what I did. Best wishes to you and anyone else on their journey!

    The only RMC I've ever ridden is Steel Vengeance at Cedar Point which I was able to fit on the first year it came out. When I went to ride it last year the test seat didn't even come close to closing. The first time I bypassed the test seat and didn't try it out first. The ride op did have to push down hard to get it to lock, and the ride itself though one of the best coasters I ever rode, was uncomfortable as my stomach was pinched hard the whole ride. I'm 5'9", 250lbs and have been for a few years so I didn't think I had gotten any larger from the first year SV was open to 2 years later when I went to ride it again. I don't know if test seats are less forgiving and ride ops are able to push down and get the seats to latch where the test seat says no, but I didn't feel like standing in line for an hour to find out that I wouldn't fit and have to do the walk of shame off the ride. Lol
