Sister Harriet, thanks for the video. It has taken over 50 years now for those variety of beans to sell in the market.
I believe the market is in the outskirts of Moroto Municipality because I can see clouds hovering over the range of Mount Moroto.
The variety of beans were being tested by agricultural extension officers in the 1970s during the Amin times.
Also, they were tested through primary schools in what was called school experimental gardens.
The whole school could get involved in cultivation and harvest of variety of beans.
There's one variety you didn't see and you haven't shown in this video, but it was a black soybean variety and it was very delicious.
So, I believe what we see now in the market are reminiscent of the decades of trials and errors in the agricultural research breakthroughs.
The citizens now recognize the importance of mixed cropping agricultural practices..
Now Karamoja has succeeded in fighting hunger.
I'am just ecstatic about karamojong people now knowing how to be productive in apparels, shoes (Ngila=automobile tire) besides animal husbandry.😊❤
Ejok noi...😂 Alakara noi ngapese...
Blessings
Oh nice thank you for this valuable information dear
Brother Vukoni, you certainly must be a senior like me. I grew up in Moroto as a kid during Amin's era and I certainly remember the 'old Karamoja' with most people barely wearing clothes. In fact, I commend Amin for changing the primitive way of life of K'jongs. I am so pleased to see the younger generation involved in Agricultural and other business ventures. Much love from Canada 🇨🇦
@@aunties5798 Thank you so very much and I'm so happy for finding a kid of the 1970s commenting here.
Yes, I also grew up in Moroto, studied from primary school to high school.
Both of us are living witnesses to the Karamoja of the 70s and of now.
God bless you with more years.
Blessings

Hi
I like this video ,I like it so much because without visiting Uganda today I could seen in this video
Thanks 🙏
But why is media painting a different picture of karamoja without food. Imagine this cheap food here. Politics is bad
Thats very true
Karamoja District Administration (KDA) fed the people of Karamoja since 1970s when famine happens due to prolonged drought. Food did not come from World Food Program, but it was the government that bought and brought food from the Teso regions for feeding the people.
However, recent politics has damaged the image of Karamoja.
Very interesting 👌 I have liked it

the karamoja, is looks like the tribs in Ethiopia Bena, Gnangatom, Tsemi...etc they have a lot of similarities. But the Ethiopian Tribs do not eat donkey at all. Thank you my sister for sharing us this wonderful video
Thanks for the information dear
Karamojong and Nyangatom are one ethnic community. Infact, there's also other similar communities such as Toposa of South East Sudan, and Iteso of Uganda and Kenyan. These ethnic groups are Nilo Hamites, and they're known as 'Ateker'. They speak very similar languages but different dialects.
That’s right
Yes, the Karamojong are just a segment of the Nilo Hermite that include the Suri, Bena, Nyangatom (Bumi as they're sometimes called in South Western Ethiopia), Teso, Turkana, Masai, Samburu, Toposa, Jie, Dodoth, etc.
It's a kind of beans which we consume row also in North East India.
