- If you’ve seen my Instagram stories lately, then you'd know how much I’m missing Fashion Week. 😢 So, I decided to go on a little fashion quest and see treasures I could find here in Sorsogon. On this episode, you’ll see me going around different thrift shops and ukay-ukay stalls and trying on my favorite finds, Fashion Week style (after we disinfected them, of course)! 😉 Hope you enjoy this episode and make sure to let me know in the comments down below! ✨

The truth is though, pieces like this are the ones that never get bought and are usually are leftovers in ukay ukays mainly because in general, filipinos only like to be "safe." I've been living in japan for 4 years now and a lot of people here are quite fashionable and are not afraid to wer unique outfits. In the philippines, most people men and women would rather go for the standard Shirt and pants look. Even wearing a dress or a long cute skirt will tag you as "just coming out from church." I wish we were more artistic and not always scared to experiment.
a lot of pinoys are artistic and fashionable. what's making them afraid to express it in public is the society itself. If you wear color blinding and extravagant looking clothes, you'd be tagged feeling mayaman. If you wear short shorts and skirts and crop or fitted tops, you'd be labeled a slut or someone asking for it. When you wear vintage and maxi clothings naman, they'd call you manang or sinauna.

@@Lovergirlindeed I know what you mean. But the thing is, it's not just about being fashionable in the inside. How do we know if we are if majority of us don't show it? I guess it's quite sad that there are some pinoys out there who are scrutinized just because they wanna look unique and show more of their personality. The fact that majority would pick on you for trying to be stylish just shows they arent stylish to begin with. I men why would most people who are actually fashionable pick on someone who wants to be fashionable instead of cheering them on? It's coz we pinoys aren't open minded enough in the first place. In general most of filipinos are very close minded and also not well traveled because we aren't from a rich country so we tend to pick on things we aren't familiar with etc.and rather be safe. When I first set foot here in Tokyo four years ago, I was the same. And I noticed how people dressed up elegantly, how they aren't afraid of dressing crazy even if they could be ridiculed for it. I loved seeing women wear dresses and skirts long and short, beautiful tops that I could rarely see here. Women wearing a dress while on a date with their boyfriends who also look nice and dandy. The contrast of feminity and masculinity was astounding. In the Phil, people go on dates with both wearing a shirt and jeans. I go to the mall and everybody wears the same outfit. The only time we see these outfits worn are on TV soap operas, where stereotypical rich characters are depicted with their mercedes benz and infinity pools in their backyard. Outside that, nothing. I don't even mean for it to be extravagant. Just something new, different, cute, not like everyone else.like these clothes in the ukay ukay featured in the video. They are cheap but they look high end. We think it's coz of Heart. It's just because we never bothered to check them out in the first place while shopping for tshirts or shorts we are busy hunting down in ukay ukay stores. Nowadays, I'm enjoying the liberty of wearing everything I please here abroad and experiment without being judged and I hope it changes too in the Philippines.

Heart's style is so timeless and chic. Even her outfits from the early 2000s are still wearable to this day. Lately, I've been revamping my wardrobe according to her style and I love that she doesn't shy away from ukay-ukay because I'm an ukay-ukay girl (which I thank my mom for introducing me to ukay-ukay when I was a kid because we couldn't afford clothes from boutiques and malls). I just wish I have bought at least one clothing from her collaboration with Kamiseta 😢 That would make me so happy. Keep doing what you do Miss Heart. You inspire me so much with everything you do 😊❤️

From what I can recall. I think they met when Kevin was invited in the PHL on a book signing. Kevin Kwan was very impressed by her aura and her look. I've heard that Heart was Kevin's pick for Astrid. She didn't get the audition so Kevin featured him on the Harper's Bazaar. I think out of the girl in the video Heart was far from the RICHEST, not poor but not crazy rich, but she evoked it none the less w/ style & elegance. I think it says alot when she bought stuff from the Ukay Ukaw which btw are dirty hand me downs no pun intended. And after cleaning and wearing it she made it look like a $100 bucks, I was really impressed.

The thing how heart semi moved in sorsogon makes me realize that maybe shes starting to know the true luxury of life not on expensive materials but living normally.
I think she just doesn’t have a lot of projects/work due to pandemic as what other people is going through right now. It just makes sense for her to take a break anyway to Sorsogon and be with her husband. From what I’ve observed she’s always been able to appreciate high end and low end products.

Hi, Heart. I love how you are genuinely in love with DESIGNS and the whole creative aspect. You are educating me and many others who are not fashion-conscious. Maybe you can do a vlog where, using ukay and other inexpensive items, you dress up and create looks for guys (and girls, hehe) whose bodies and features are more like us ordinary people, i.e. body is not proportional, with big belly, or maybe too thin, or bald, not the best skin or hair, etc. That would be so amazing. By the way, I also love how you are such an animal lover, especially the local breeds and rescues. May you be blessed more for all these great work that you do. :-)
