This is a very motivating and inspiring video. I love the tablecloths for making up clothing from. You are very talented and have all this figured out. I am so much slower with my plans and my sewing efforts. But I have so many clothes that I have worked hard to design and sew up, that all work together. I am working on a jean style jacket to make out of a loden green linen fabric to go with my cargo bottoms and capris. I am creating an intricate pattern made up from a ready to wear jacket I bought years ago. I am still working on the cuffs for the sleeve. The learning curve for the fit and style changes has been challenging and time consuming. I have made up four other jacket patterns for styles I liked. You think it would get easier. I have a lot of plants still left to get into the ground in my garden and we have such wacky weather. So, it's taking longer. I can't wait to get back to sewing on all my other projects too. I love seeing what you are doing. I sew alone but I don't feel so alone when I can connect with great seamstresses and educators like yourself. Thanks so much for your hard work and for sharing so much of it.
Thanks so much Jeanette! Comments like these always encourage me to keep sharing! You're project sounds fantastic- and I know how much work it must be- well done! You would think it would get easier but the more you learn the more you want ( and know) to improve. I know I always have a sewing or style video on while I sew so I feel like there's someone with me while I'm creating. Thanks again!
I love your idea to have a "year of the caftan". Your fabric choices are beautiful! I always like to see your pattern choices and where you find your fabrics. They feel so special and avant garde. Love your style. Enjoy your summer of sewing!
Rebecca I thought about you yesterday because I wore my Butterick 4659 pants to the store and this elderly lady raved about my pants. She was amazed that I made them. It was funny because pointed out all her favorite features of the pants like the linen fabric and the pockets. She called her husband over to check my pants out. Sadly she said that she purchased a sewing machine years ago but it's still in the box. Anyway, I love the fabric print at 6:55. I can't wait to see the final garment. I'm currently working on some flowy linen lounge garments to wear around the house since it's starting to get hot.
Thanks so much Rose! Aren’t they just the best pants! Isn’t it funny that pockets are such a big hit? I can’t wait to get started sewing. Hope you’re having a great weekend!
Rebecca, great fabrics and sewing projects! You have motivated me to look through my fabric stash. I purchased several of your recommendations pattern drafting books from previous video. But, first designing a sloper. A new adventure….thanks.
Great video. Pamela’s Patterns Bias Cut Skirt pattern is my skirt TNT. It’s wonderful at bringing out linen’s best qualities, and I’m sure it would work well with your silk as well. It might be fun to play around with the bias cut skirt and the table cloths to get fun diagonal lines concentrated at the waist and then some more nearer the hem. You’d have to just experiment with pattern placement and either it will work or it won’t. Have fun in the sewing room.
Thank you for this! I've lived in Florida for 10 years now but still have problems figuring out where and what to make and wear. I live near St Pete and, fun fact,, it's in the Guinness book of world records for most sunny days and it's super super hot here because we dont' get rain. UGH. I've loved your vlogs because of seeing the style for us Floridians. Thanks again!
You're so welcome Marly! Those sunny days are why I moved here! You're right, Florida style is so different from everywhere else! I know my current wardrobe is so different from when I lived up north. Thanks for watching and Happy sewing!
Thank you Rebecca for another inspiring video. I am especially interested in learning about dyeing, so appreciate your mentioning your resources. Am envious of your warmer temps, I’m still in sweatshirt and fleece here in Colorado!
Thanks so much! I do love some natural dyeing- I used to do a lot more so it’s fun to get back to. It’s been crazy hot lately- even in the morning so I’m jealous of your cooler weather!
The Elisa Purple print is stunning! Would love to see your caftan made up in this fabric. When you mentioned growing marigolds for dyeing fabric, the latest Threads magazine has a good article on growing a garden for dyeing fabric. Another great video - many thanks.
Hi. Loved your ideas for the summer. I will certainly subscribe and head back to see how you get on with it all. The eye colours look amazing. I absolutely love your top. Can you tell me what pattern you used or was it self drafted?. Thank you again for a great video.
Thanks so much! Glad to have you here! The top is the Fiona dress modified to a bodice from Closet Core Patterns. It’s on my blog (search under Fiona Bodice ) if you want more details on the make. Happy sewing!
I had to stop watching because the angle of lighting was nice but I could not see properly in the low light unless you stuck the fabric close to the camera.
I can’t wait for the kaftan drafting video. I have never made one before but want to make several for upcoming trips.
They are my very favorite thing to sew-and wear! I'm building up quite the collection!

Thanks so much Kendra! What a wonderful compliment! I decided all I want to wear in the heat this summer is something light and fun!

Thanks Lily! So glad you enjoyed it! Happy Sewing!
Love the Elisa. That’s going to make a gorgeous caftan.
Isn’t it beautiful! Can’t wait to get sewing!

Wonderful! Have fun drafting!
I love the idea of sewing caftans! I made one using Vogue 1886 that I am going to wear to Frocktails in Portland, OR. I can’t wait!
They’re the best! I’ll have to look that pattern up! Happy sewing and have fun at Frocktails!

Thanks Judy! Isn't that fabric gorgeous- I really couldn't resist! I saw that article in threads- it was great!
Magnificent plans!
Thanks Nancy! Happy sewing!
Nice choices, Rebecca! Looking forward to seeing how your pants go😻 I’m up here in Connecticut, usually envious of you Floridians😂😍and all that sun!
Thanks so much! It was 95 degrees this morning so I’d love some cooler weather! I went to college up in CT. Happy sewing!
Loved this video kaftans are big this year. I like you choices and fabrics. I have closet core Charlie Caftan on my summer makes list
Thanks so much! I was a tester for the Charlie Caftan and have made a few- it’s a great pattern! Happy sewing!
Great video, I’d start with the swimwear as it’s the most daunting! I’d love to know what skirt pattern you are wearing, it looks beautiful ❤
Thanks so much! I am excited to sew up that swimwear! The skirt is Burda 116 in a pecan Ponte. It’s my favorite midi knit skirt!
@@SewPomona thanks so much for the details. I didn’t even release it’s from a knit, that makes it even better!
I would love to see how to draft leggings and caftan. I think you should start with the project you are most excited about.
Thanks Ami! Looking forward to filming those drafting videos!
Hi, Rebecca, great to see you. I saw your video playing in Cquiyah Closet background on her video.
Nice! Thanks Zelda! Hope you’re having a great weekend!

I love your skirt! Which pattern did you use and what kind of fabric did you use? Love your flosstubes.
Thanks Debbie! The skirt is Burda 116 in a pecan Ponte. I have it pinned on my pattern stash board on Pinterest if you want the link.
I had to stop watching because the angle of lighting was nice but I could not see properly in the low light unless you stuck the fabric close to the camera.
Sorry about that. I film with my phone and it can be hard getting good detail shots- especially this time of year - in my filming space.
