The way he says "grenade"
Its *clears throat* AYED KATCH AH KRAAAANAADEEE FOR YAH
Punisherkid4 That ACTUALLY made me laugh out loud. Thanks for that! :D
Yeah noticed cool. Lol. if i didn't read the comment i wouldn't have paid attention! Cool! Lol!
Like a Russian
Ahahahahaha
The song feels so much more real in this version. Epic.
That's cause the accent on "grenade" makes it sound like he comes from a place where grenades are a real threat.
GregTom2 I completely agree!
True
Sara Kjeldsen
Indeed...
+Sara Kjeldsen
i see Defrent between them
Wow.. Even only saying half the words Alex puts more emotion into this song than Bruno Mars ever did. Coupled with Lindsey's incomparable talent it's just, there are no words. It's magic.
I am a fan of Lindsey's, and that's how I found this video. The Salt Lake Pops are great as always. But it was Alex Boyé who blew me away here. His voice and emotion put forth the raw power that feels, for lack of a better word, "Tribal". Yet his presence and his garb embody refinement and control. I'm quite literally shaking at the sheer beauty of that man's presence. I'm off to see more of his work, and he just may be my favorite solo vocalist ever.
I totally agree, Alex was absolutely incredible and definitely gave the song a sort of 'tribal' feel. I so also think that The Salt Lake Pops accentuate Lindsey's playing and sound absolutely amazing on their own. Alex probably is the best solo vocalist ever, lets just face it.
im sure you seen it by now, but he did a very good one with the piano guys.
peponi, a cover of coldplay's paradise. it is epic
Lol. I like your comment. But, tribal? That has to do with being in a group. I think you were looking for "primal," or maybe "primordial."
I love how this guy says 'grrrenade'
I like how this cover is not all about the song lyrics. Most of the time, there is the lyrics which are more amplified then the music, but here, everything is equalized. And that is another reason why I love Lindsey Stirling.
Exactly what I also noticed. Whoever mixed the sound in this production is a genius. The orchestra, singer, and Lindsey all blend in exactly the right way at exactly the right time to make a stellar production. And everyone in the video appear to be giving 110 percent to make it happen!
The original is a good song, really. But the mix of Lindsey's grace and superskill in violin, and the accent, the voice, and the sincerity on the face of Alex Boye' makes this piece of music a wonderfull moment to live again....again... again... RAAAAAAAH I CAN'T STOOOOOOOOP
This cover made the song more meaningful!
your violin, his voice, and the salt lake pops = Magic of the the highest order!!!!
When I tell my friends im in an orcestra they always seem so suprised one even said "but ur such a fun person" so thank you and others like u for showing the grandeur and grace that an orcestra can have while still being fun and modern
Lindsey - You got yourself a new fan in me!!
You made Violin look so cool!!
I am a huge Lindsey fan and have seen her in concert (well worth it), but Boye, you sir, are off the charts. Beautiful as anything I have ever seen. Thank you.
Alex and Lindsey together: amazing duo!
Wow! The singer has an amazing amount confidence in his voice and his accent makes it even better. Then to top it all off, Lindsey drops her unique and beautiful violin playing for the instrumentals of the song. AMAZING!!!!! Great work!!!
I had chills in my back when he said he'd catch a grenade for her.
Perhaps it's because his accent reveals that he comes from a place where a grenade is a real threat, rather than a metaphorical theoretical statement.
Everywhere a grenade is a threat
hesseldv57 I'm canadian and I can confirm that a grenade is not a real threat for me. I know I will not die from a random grenade attack. Not only have I never seen a grenade in my life, but I don't think anyone on canadian soil has been killed by a grenade in the last hundred years.
Not all african countries can say as much.
GregTom2 search grenade findingd in canada and you will be suprised
He is from england not africa
Clark Astle Sure, but his accent isn't from england.
Evan I, Alex Boye was born in London but his mom was from Nigeria.. You can check out his "I'm A Mormon" video where he talks about his life. He's a really nice guy and was once a member of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He is now on tour with Olivia Newton John, and every once in awhile he is with the Piano Guys to sing a song he did with them which is their version of Cold Play's "Paradise" but it is in the language Swahili and the name of the song is called "Peponi". Alex is amazing!!
The black guy has an amazing voice and lindsey stirling is amazing in this. The way he says "grenade" is awesome!!!
Lindsey Sterling + Alex Boye = BOOM! Mind blown lol Two very great artists who have managed to literally make there careers from the ground up using youtube. Good job guys.
Finally, something "different" we can all come to appreciate. Lindsey is a beautiful inspiration, hands down.
I like the African element in this version of Bruno Mars' Grenade- The performance is very powerful!
Bahamas, actually. "African" is an incredibly broad term as black culture in the south (like the actual south, Caribbean and such) is actually quite different from North American black culture. And it's actually kind of rude, labeling blacks as automatic Africans, if you think about it after a fashion.
Garret please check out my post again. I didn't mention anything about Blacks... I am talking about the original Africans from Africa like us who have lived in that beautiful continent all our lives. I know what you mean, but in the real Africa such things don't exist. Please do your research well on where Boye originally came from please. Thank you... 😀
In case you didn't know Africa is not necessarily termed as a Black continent. There are whites from South Africa, Asians who were born and raised in Africa.Although there are Different colours in Africa we are one people who are Africans living in the African continent with many cultures and close to 1000 indigenous ethnic languages.
Melissa Omolo Actually his mom is from Nigeria. He was born in London and is Swahili.
I love this version, mainly cause of how Grenade is said and the violin
It's a small moment, but this shot at 2:06 always gives me chills
you don't need a lot to get chills huh? you should listen to experience from ludovico einaudi, it's full of that xD
This song and Starships were the ONLY two songs i have not watched of Lindsey Stirling's videos, ALL of here videos, both lindseytime and this account. I did not watch them because i thought the orrigional songs wern't that great. WELL I CHANGED MY MIND 'CAUSE LINDSEY MAKES EVERYTHING SOUND EPIC!
Thx for this amazing video, SO much better than the orrigianal one.
A Fan From The USA!!!!!!!!!!!!
this song just has so much more feeling to it then the original one i just love it!
***** I would hope so lol he has an amazing voice and your violin playing was just beautiful for the song I absolutely love it. I listen to this over and over all the time! XD
***** I also prefer this version over the orginal, Alex has such depth in his voice and is just right for this song, also the string instruments give it nice epic orchestral touch!
Niami123 yes this version is truly amazing
Us Americans sure are proud aren't we?
2:51
It's so powerful because of the violins and the french horn.
I get goosebumbs every time!

aMAZING! Alex Boye'S voice is so powerful!
Excellent. Saw Lindsey on PBS for the first time 2 days ago. You know have a 65 year old groupie Lindsey. Alex, first time hearing you, lol, I'll be back! ❤️
i love the fact that the context of this song changes with Alex singing it, this song was written as a she dumped me song....when Alex sings it, it almost seems like he is talking about war vets, thats what it makes me think of.
That song makes me feel better , awesome :D
Thanks Alex Boye and Lindsey Stirling
SINCE WHEN DID THIS EXIST. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN.
omg GIRL YOU ARE SO TALENTED... THE ENTIRE WORLD SHOULD SEE YOUR VIDEOS AND LISTEN YOUR MUSIC... i'm in love with your beautiful music!!!
This is a very powerful song. The passion and anguish so well channeled by Alex Boye. Those who are nitpicking at his accent are missing how good he is. As for Lindsey, your dancing just out of his reach is like the love he will never have, taunting him. I would very much like to see what you could do with Anitra's Dance from Peer Gynt. Outstanding work!
Don't you love it when the cover version beats the original single handed. :)
I cant get over how powerful his voice is, it has so much presence. Love the cover.
that cover is my number one for last 2 weeks... and got no reason to change that. It's just amazing, every part of it.
that song play on my head whole time.. on and on and on...
I like the singa, he adds an interesting flava
Just epic!
I like how he says "grenade" sends chills.
Great Orkestra...! Love it...
2:50 = The best moment for me :D

SwYz Yep the orchestra makes it so epic
I like how Lindsey has the thing memorised and theres a full orchestra reading it behind her

That was... Amazing. Loved everything
Alex is awesome and Lindsay is awesome too! :)
Замечательное партнёрство, я так думаю все молодцы.
Twp of my favorite artists together.. loving it.
3 years since this cover was released and i still thinking this is the best cover of bruno mars ever
I'm a violinist too. I started playing since I was in 2nd grade now I'm going to 8th grade. I'm the concert master and I play hip hop songs on my violin too.
Lindsey Sterling is my idol😊
I like this one better than the original :)
Agreed
i just started like the original after hearing this awesome interpretation off Lindsey Stirling! Just amazing and fabulous!
I like the other one, I think Lindsey I talented but I really like Bruno mars

I'm in love with this entire thing.
Lindsey, you inspire me.

1:55 seems that my heart explodes and cries

and your country is inmune?
+Nunster no but I mean they have more threats then people in the us( my country)
+Nunster no but I mean they have more threats then people in the us( my country)

Outstanding!

I like it when he starts singing and it sounds like the song from the Lion King.. :)
This song is just... I mean, I don't even have words to describe how I'm feeling after hearing. I guess it's just the best thing I had ever heard.
I have the word,
Speechless....
theodore gautama Thanks.
The violin makes it so emotional plus Alex Boye sings it with so much emotion and feeling.
Absolutely heart moving. I love the take on this cover. Alex Boye, your voice is amazing! And Lindsey, you are an inspiration to those who are learning musical instruments. I'm a former flute player and I haven't played for ages, but I always want to pick up my instruments every time I listen to you playing. Both of you are awesome and keep inspiring!
Musica de uma execução perfeita...
Mas o que que é esse cara cantando?????
Could someone tell me what he's saying at around 2:26?
