Ye, he made the original for the Songtober. MotI would upload a new song everyday for all 31 days of October. Obviously some quality and length had to be sacrificed. Some of the songs like Broken Vessel or Mantis Lords (both from Songtober) got a remastered, more finished version.
I may be missing a joke, but the original was a Songtober song, which are not "full" versions of songs. This is a "full" version of this song.

I actually like that BV and the Siblings are more mad at both their parents for leaving them in the void than that another Vessel is doing what they’re supposed to

BV wasn't canonically mad, they were a reanimated corpse. Just my headcanon, but I like to believe that the siblings attack you because your pale nature makes them think about the one who abandoned them, but when you get voidheart, they realize you're one of them

when i heard the first version, i was BEGGING for the full track to be made. even if it were rough around the edges, it still conveyed such powerful emotion, and this one is that times fifty.

The whispers in the background really help convey the feel, the emphasis of what Broken Vessel is: the broken, discarded remnants of failed vessels, overcome by infection.
Fun fact: Original Broken Vessel song was realesed on October 18. And Broken Vessel itself is an 18th Boss in pantheon of Hallownest. Well done, Alex!

"Cast into the night, because we saw the light" this part gave me the chills. The light they are talking about is definitely The Radiance and that showed that the Vessels are beings who can actually feel emotions since the were influenced by it. Very sad and tragic, but it really fits the Broken Vessel/Lost Kin theme. Well done.
The Light could also refrence Pale King being a beacon to hallownest wich gave bugs intelligence so them seeing the light could refer to Pale Kings Beacon affecting them and in turn give them a mind wich pale king specificly didint want.

Being able to have inteligence whould mean these vessels whould have had a brain of some sort and inturn that whould mean they werent Hollow enough wich in turn meant they were impure.
That also means every vessel would have failed to remain pure because of PK’s innate power to grant sapience. PK simply living was the problem that prevented a pure vessel.
I mean it is brought up that the hollow knight was flawed by an ideal instilled into by the pale king so yeah by nature, the pale king’s presence kind of forced the failure and even then the true form he didn’t even know what he was looking for
In fact it is called out the knight we play is closer to it(though not the perfect ideal the pale king had) thanks to spending time in the wastes outside hollow nest where the power of the pale king fades and you lose the mind his power grants if you enter the wastes around the howling cliffs aka the knight strength is a strength born of the void of mind that is around hollownest and the void below having experienced two voids made it stronger
Of course the knight can further evolve by facing it past it lost in that void and uniting it fully and it grows to,the point that the white lady can’t tell if the knight feels anything but can tell like bardoom that the knight has changed( bardoom even thinks the knight has become greater than the pale king) though a will is implied to be there still guiding that endless emptiness

When I watched this for the first time, I was in a restaurant. While I was watching the vid, the waiter came to ask for my order. But before I could make my order, he noticed I was watching a Hollow Knight video. So he asked if I was a Hollow Knight fan, and I said “yes, I’m a huge fan.” Then he pulled up his right sleeve to reveal a Hollow Knight tattoo on his wrist.

This gives a lot of added story to Broken Vessel/Lost Kin, in that it implies that Broken Vessel isn't just, well, a broken vessel, but represents the several vessels that never made it. All the children sacrificed by the Pale King, their shared anger now rising in the form of Broken Vessel
The artwork complements that, specifically this piece at 3:07, which actually isn't anywhere near where BV is actually fought. But having Broken Vessel under a huge infection cloud that illuminates the area like flames while also having the millions of abandoned vessels' eyes also illuminating the fight makes it so majestic, giving the fight so much more beauty and emotional power than it does in the game.
Broken Vessel being illuminated mostly by the infectious flames makes it seem like it's literally burning with anger, while the Knight being illuminated mostly by the Shades' glowing eyes draws a parallel between the two. It shows that Broken Vessel is a trial for the Knight, and also parallels the artwork for Sealed Vessel, where the Knight strikes the same pose against the Hollow Knight, who's surrounded by similar infectious clouds
Then in the game they kinda just get filled with infection seeds and driven like a big car

Jokes aside this is absolutely amazing, it works so well with the concept of every lyric representing how all the vessels were abandoned in the abyss, broken and discarded.
I really wished broken vessel/Lost kin had more of a impact on the story, the concept is just so haunting, something just like you, just as failed as you, but corrupted, angry, at everything and everyone that made him like that

Well. Hornet is suposed to be somewhat like us but Broken Vessel/Lost Kin is near identical to us. Us meeting another one of our kind is dramatic is it not?
I'm really curious why it's taller than other vessels (aside from the Hollow Knight, of course). It couldn't be age, because the protagonist is still at its smaller height, and presumably the vessels were made at the same time. So there might be something else that makes them grow.
There's a lot of interesting things that BV could teach us if it had more focus and screen time.
And not only that, but as you said, it's a very tragic character, kind of like HK. So from a story perspective it would have been awesome to see more of it.

I HAD THOUGHT THAT NOTHING COULD TOP THE SONGTOBER VERSION I WAS PROVEN VERY WRONG THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!!!! I love how harmonious all off the vessel voices sounds!!! I also just noticed that durning the lost kin part of the song sounds more resentful than the first chorus!!!
I am so excited to finally see this brought from the songtober rough version now to the full absolutely stunning version!
This song was one of the first songs I had the initial stinger line when I was writing my original Hollow Knight lyrics. The cries and resentment felt by hundreds of thousands of discarded husks, deemed imperfect by a cold uncaring father.
It's no surprise that the main feeling behind this song is the feelings of "I'm imperfect, and hated because of it." These intrusive thoughts are ones many people struggle with every day, so my thoughts was to take those feelings, inject as much hatred and venom into the words as possible, and dial the intensity to 11 of those thoughts. Of course with all of this, without Alex's golden touch, I doubt it would have been brought to such a beautiful end product. Between the absolutely haunting voices of the damned feeding the intrusive thoughts, to having the broken vessel be the combination of three different vessels, all working in tandem in a bid to survive. But unfortunately, none can break the curse of the infection and the light, least of all a couple, imperfect, shells.
Now, the behind the curtain aside, the rest of the people who worked on this.
The main voices of the vessels, Emmy, Tom, & Ploops all brought such amazing diversity to not just the main three voices, but all the slight variations and harmonies within those voices. I said it before but I'll say it again, Alex's decision to have three voices was brilliant and makes this song move to the next level.
Of course, these voices are already beautiful, but the fine tuning that Emmy, Tom, and Steel brought to this song brings out all that terror of the voices and sends them again to a whole other level. The mixing team knows what they are doing and I cannot sing their praise enough.
The whisper chorus of the damned, while yes I am one of the voices above the damned, Ian, Shiloh, and Uprising combined with it all really gives the feelings that, these are the intrusive thoughts that led what was once innocent semi-perfect husks, ready and willing to follow whatever their father asked of them down the path of fear, anger, hate, and damnation, corrupted by the one thing they were made to fight, and field only by those same negative thoughts. Without the chorus I'm not sure this would have quite the same feel and I'm here for it.
Of course art, one of the most integral parts of these videos, the pieces in this are just a league of their own. Despite only having circles for eyes that cannot emote, Wisp & Archer did such an amazing job portraying those feelings, all while showing The Knight against these same terrifying forces and thoughts. After all, they aren't much different than their siblings, they just haven't fallen to their own inner demons yet. And the fact that they were both able to convey that struggle within their art, absolute brilliance and beauty.
As always, everyone did amazing in this song and all deserve as much praise as possible, but I don't want to overstay my welcome. I hope you enjoyed the slight peak behind the curtains, as well as my standard praise and complements to the entire cast and crew. Thanks for watching the video, and I'll see you in the next one!

y'know, there are way to many hollow knight video's that are almost perfect and could've been (pretty much) flawless if they didn't refer to either the knight or one of their siblings as if they're male.

like the hollow knight video from ceave perspective was so good imo, but the fact that he refered thk (not the knight, only thk, which kinda makes it worse imo) bothered me so much, i'd give the video a 10/10, but due to this i'd give it around a 9.5/10,

@@typhoonboom Many people refer to the vessels as male because in the English language, there’s this grammatical rule where it is technically correct to refer to anything of unknown sex or gender as male. Sort of like how many laws will say things like “no man shall” but the law applies to more than just men. Or, on a smaller case, how people will often refer to any dog they see as a “good boy” before they know if that dog is male or female.
Yeah. Tho still doesent make much sense to me. I get Vessels are Husks of pale kings children that have been filled with void but i feel like if i was lets say taxidermied so my insides were nothing but stuffin, id think people whould still call me male and not it just because my insides are hollow right?
WOW UH. LITERAL FULLBODY CHILLS. holy SHIT the way this one is just HAUNTING. the harsh lyrics and terrifying chorus of whispers and repetitive phrasing and utterly haunting singing by emmy, tom and ploops truly sell this on being a chorus of the damned. i’ve had years to stew on hollow knight as a game and not until this song did i think i ever really truly GRASPED the horror of the pale king creating thousands of children only to deem them imperfect and leave them to die.
this number just so perfectly encapsulates the spite and betrayal the vessels felt at their horrific doomed existence, and the song is so powerful. the addition of that whisper chorus from the initial songtober version with the “shell within the void” lyric repetition throughout this package adds so much haunting atmosphere, and the songtober version was already one of my favourites from that years’ songtober! absolutely stunning job taking this personal favourite of mine to another level!

On a more in-depth note, the improvements made to this song were very insightful and great! The haunting, whispered repeated lines throughout the song are a great touch, and I appreciate the fact that the song is almost doubled in length compared to the rough draft. Just another hollow knight song to add to the collection of songs to play while waiting for the sequel. You and your team rock!

The Songtober version was already incredible in terms of quality so I had no idea how it’d be improved- but wow is this phenomenal, the whispers add so much to it. Makes it so much eerier.
I am so glad to see the line “he wanted a son” be changed to better reflect the game. It was one of the biggest issues I had with the original version and now it’s perfect :)
I noticed that BV and Hornet both have “shell within the void,” but Mantis Lords doesn’t- I wonder if only bosses with connections to the Pale King and vessels will say that? It would make sense, as characters like the Lords wouldn’t know what the Knight even is, while Hornet would.

That would make sense. Anyone outside of those affiliated with PK wouldn’t know much about what he did. Even Dung Defender, who at least has an idea, is surprised to learn that about there were other Vessels.
I wonder, if they remaster Grimm (which they may or may not do), would they add the line to him? He’s aware of the Pale King and the Vessels, as suggested by some Dream Nail dialogue, so I wouldn’t be surprised.

Waking up to this today I was confused, I was like “two hollow knight sings?!? I’m not complaining!” And then I took a listen and HOLY SHIT! This was stupendous! Everything about this is just amazing!

Just your random comment to appreciate the changes from the original, such as:
"He wanted a son" becoming "he wanted a child", because the vessels are genderless
The voices are now way softer, both because the vessels are no more than children, and because of the ghost-like nature of the shades
And of course, the brand-new verses, even more time to appreciate this masterpiece :)
"He wanted a son" sounds way better and more rhythmical. And tbh it still fits regardless.
"Flawless or reviled" is also significantly worse than "Only the perfect one".
I also just generally like the OG more. It's shorter (which may as well be another plus though), but overall sounds better.
Though I'm cool with the change to be more accurate, I do agree with the comment above. I think the line "he wanted a son... Only the perfect one" portrays the emotions and the story in a clearer manner, which is more important for the song.

I love the fact that the broken vessel speaks with the intention of all of the other vessels not just one but the abyss as a whole. I love the song mainly because this is my favorite hollow knight ost. Bur with this lyric shows what pale king has done. Love the lyrics hope one day you do sealed vessel but keep doing what you find fun.
The art was phenomenal. I hope we see more from the artists.

This upgrade is scary good! Whether due to the infection or their youth, most of the voices being lighter than before helps this sound a lot richer, even before considering the additional voices.
This song is so good I love it.

While mostly a repost of my comment under the songtober version of the song they are things I would like to add here.
I really love the take on this song. It goes into the deep hatred the vessels felt and how they viewed the Pale king's actions. To them him discarding his children wasn't a big problem for him. Heck they even say that they were failures who were then thrown into the pile that is the floor of the abyss. They sound so geniunely hurt by the pale kings actions. After all they ever did was exsist and were punished for it. All because they looked into the light. While never outright confirmed, I do think that the Pale King felt sorrow and shame in his actions. I also loved how you guys tackled the whole genderless part of the Vessels. I also like how it's sounds like this is sung by all or at least multiple Vessels. Also the Art is yet again phenomal. The Songtober version while great of course lacked the polished touch. And this full version truly delivered. I can't wait to see the rest of the Musical bytes and of course more Hollow Knight covers in the future!

Its like multiple vessels singing, which makes sense since their thousands of vessels, so there must have been a few others who met a similar fate to broken vessel's.
This gave me chills.. I absolutely love Hollow Knight and this helps solidify my love for it and for the community surrounding it. Well done
This is so great! The ghostly lyrics on the side feel like the Radiance speaking through Broken Vessel and influencing them
Holy shit this is incredible! I absolutely love both the ominous voices in the background and the multiple voices singing the main song, it adds so much emotion to the song, especially knowing what the vessels have been through
If we ever get a Hollow Knight/Radiance song, it could be such a powerful duet. You did a great job at Broken Vessels song, namely representing their genderless state and the whole: no voice to cry suffering thing.
Bro, this gave me actual chills. The whispering in the background was one of my favorite parts because it added that ominous "souls of the damned" kinda feeling, and I love it.

I love the line "We're the cost, we're the lost" because it's a pretty subtle reference to "No cost to great", I can't believe I missed that on my first veiwing.
You have no idea how happy this makes me. Broken Vessel is my favorite track from the game, and as much as I loved the original version that you made I always hoped that you'll make a full cover, and this is better than I could have ever hoped for. Thank you for doing justice for my favorite Hollow Knight boss.

Ever since i first heard the old songtober version ive always had that last line "thought that maybe i'd survive" looping in my head. I just. Hold up. Give me a sec. Hold on. Wait. Wait. Hold. I need. Sit down. Give me a mo
Anyways jokes aside that line stuck with me real hard since then. I just really, really like it? The implications. It'd always been a mystery how some of the vessels escaped the abyss, but BV's circumstances are way more stranger than all the other dead vessels. For one thing they're the only vessel that's explicitly stated to well... Be alive. Like they literally have a dream form and a ghost and everything. They were a child who crawled their way out the abyss somehow and died with no one to find them. All that suffering in vain. Idk. Thought that maybe i'd survive.

This makes me think how terrible the pale king was. Is true he gave the bugs a will and a mind so they could be more than beast (or at least that is what we are told). But ultimately he only cared about himself, about mantaining this kingdom where everyone praised him, he played with powers he did not understand such as the void or the soul from the white lady or the tribe of the radiance, causing her anger. He did a lot of selfish things claiming to be for the good of the kingdom, but causing pain within it and nobody even noticed for how blind they were adoring him. They just traded beastiality for servitude. When stuff didn't go as planed, he just... vanished with his palace, he fleed from the kingdom, he didn't care.
Makes wish there was an ending where you confront the pale king. And wonder how something like that would look (and sound).
Brok n vessel was never my favorite hollow knight track, but this is absolutely amazing. I literally had shivers listening to this. I 'like' very few videis, but this one deserves it. I would love to see more!

This Musical byte is so good, like i wasn't expecting this level of PURE QUALITY. The voices (and the lyrics) perfectly match the vibe and intense feelings throughout the whole piece, I literally got goosebumps from this hah

This is really awesome I really love broken vessel especially since they serve both a (at least to me) revelation about what ghost’s purpose is and that they’re not the only ones and as really good foreshadowing to the hollow knight.

I really like how it sounds. The lyrics and voices are perfectly fit the music, and tell a tragic story about a cost too great, from the perspective of the "broken" vessels.
