  • Huw Edwards was the BBC’s flagship presenter who led the coverage of major political and royal events before he announced that he would resign from the corporation.
Several candidates have been touted as capable of stepping in to the high-profile broadcaster’s shoes after Edwards resigned amid allegations he paid a young person for sexually explicit photos.
The BBC News at Ten host has presented several royal events, including the late Queen’s death and her funeral in 2022 as well as the King’s coronation in May last year.
TalkTV’s James Max discusses this further with former Labour adviser Matthew Laza.

Level of pay disgusting, when some people are trying to live on the minimum wage.

If he didn’t get revealed then he’d still be large as life presenting the news and nobody would be none the wiser. The reverse side of the mental health card says “quietly slip away”

He resigns which means we the licence payers don't have to pay his inflated salary anymore, going on sick leave simple meant he would hang his sick pay as long as he could and we have had to pay for it.

Perverted behavior is not a form of respect…or is that the new norm at BBC? He did this to himself and that BBC kept him on the payroll says an awful lot!

daft & inappropriate ? he was a sex pest & there is yet more to come out about his behaviour - it was/is sickening listening to people trying to defend him. So glad I no longer pay the BBC tax.

Lets hope all the TTV presenters follow Huw’s lead and resign as well. They are all terrible and the channel has no future anyway.

You absolutely CAN sack someone if they are off on long term sick - at the very least, you don't keep paying them huge sums ad infinitum. The whole thing was sad for all concerned.

The main item on the 6 o’clock news, with all that’s going on in our world, the bbc is not worthy of the tv licence fee!

@@kevinb9830 Hi Kevin, yes that’s obvious, but this is not newsworthy, certainly not at the beginning of the news.
The journalistic world must surely be ashamed of such items & it being deemed newsworthy.
Investigative journalism is finished in this country, if the bbc want to do something more constructive, go into our communities & expose the drug dealers, especially the ones higher up the food chain.
It’s not rocket science to check them out & see how they spend their money!

Corporations absolutely can remove someone if they are 'long term sick' and if they are unable to perform their duties, they can be exited fairly. He has been paid over 300k of tax payers money to think about things...
