  • In contrast to all the negative aspects of Covid 19, now I finally have time to do some video editing for myself! Here's an edit I made of 'a day in the life' during my semester abroad at the University of Cape Town. I studied at UCT through UCEAP from January to June of 2019. Ultimately my heart goes out to all the students on exchange right now; at a time of crisis it must be hard to be away from home so praying y'all make it home safely, or find the sense of family in your community during this season of isolation.

Hey I’m from Cape Town and I’m studying at UCT next year, I live in the suburbs of Cape Town, it’s mostly in the poorer areas where there is crime, like UCT is in our Central Business District, there’s little crime there, but when you make it to the suburbs you’d find the usual gangsterism and robbing and so on. But please don’t let this discourage you from coming because we have a beautiful country and you will be guaranteed the best experience of it. If you do come, I hope we can be friends at uni

Hi Princess Mutsawashe. The main crime experienced within the group of students I lived with was cell phone theft when out and about (usually at the bars on Long street at night.) Although Cape Town boasts some of the highest crime rates in the world, I felt rather sheltered and safe living in the city. The precautions I took were ubering rather than walking at night, even if I was with a group. There are of course places where you can walk around at night such as long street and the popular tourist areas because many cops patrol there. On the other hand, incidents of people coming to your gate or ringing the door bell during the day were commonplace. Similar to the current situation in Cape Town where criminals are posing as electrical workers who then steal when you let them we'd sometimes experience people asking for money or claiming to be friends of our landlord etc. Don't fall for this deceit and basically just don't let anyone you don't know into your home. Lastly they say people get robbed riding the trains too, but I still rode them anyways and took the Taxis. I didn't visit the Suburbs at all or the outer parts of Cape Town that are deemed much more dangerous (something I actually regret) but overall, apart from the previously mentioned issues I felt safe for most of my exchange.

I am the one who connected PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS TO A INTERNATIONAL IDENTITY-and helped reshaped the healthcare in SOUTH AFRICA-I am the one who will be a SUPREME JUDGE IN SOUTH AFRICA -HELLO HI HELLO!!! 🤩☝🏼 I am the one who loves the little brown South African children!!!
