  • Getting started in knife is absolutely about the tooling. Know where to start and more importantly, what result to expect.

I'm wearing these big headphones ,look like the one to muffle gun shots. I kept hearing somthing moving in my left ear I thought somthing was crawling around in it.. then I notice the camera moving a little . Realizing it was the cameraman LOL. Dam that was weird . I make knives using the old angle grinder. The best tool ever made. Love it.cut ,shape, bleed out bevels , sharpen. It does it all

Never used an angle grinder when I started out. I went whole hog a got a 4X36 with the circular side wheel for about the same price. No hollow grind capability, but fine for handle shaping and flat grinds. They are still pretty cheap today and work for flattening scales and blade blanks. ✌ 😃

My first couple knives were made using a file and a filing jig made out of a 2x4, I actually got a pretty ok result on both knives but each one took me about a week to make. I quickly started looking into tools to make the work quicker.

Yes and Yes! Lol, much trial and error and more than a few screwed-up blades before I got one that was fairly close to what a knife blade might look like, lol! Thx for the honest information and video.

Ordering a 2x72 Ameribrade on a stand in a couple months but until then I am working with a 1x30 Rikon veritable speed belt sander and buying the good ceramic belts for the metal shaping. Cant wait for the next video

still out here to rep the brand for ceramic paper inserts for the plastic backing pad for angle grinder. fastest, lowest heat, easiest angle consistancy grinding solution. whole setup cosys an additional $25 but you can grind out a blank in about 10 min with some experience.

As someone that has tried. Making knife using the unprofessional methods. It's not easy and time consuming. I've used bench grinders angle grinders and a really old babbit bearing grinder. I enjoyed the work regardless but no matter how much I tried to make clean straight lines couldn't do it. Even bolted the knife to a sawhorse didn't give me enough stability.
