Reflective tinting and foil must be applied to the outside of insulated glass windows. If it is applied inside, excessive heat builds up between the glass and it will blow out the seal and the window will lose its insulation properties and could eventually lead to fogging within the glass panes that cannot be removed.

Another trick is to get some foam core craft boards to do a similar job. The foam core won't radiate the heat from the windows into the room so could possibly keep the indoor temperature even lower. ☀️
I use the white foam core on the inside of the south facing windows in our little enclosed back porch. Its uninsulated but has greatly reduced the temperature in summer.
I also wedged some foam core boards on the inside our front white aluminum storm door as it gets direct westerly sun. I used white tape on the foam core installed on the door. This has helped keep it cooler in summer and warmer in winter as the antique interior door doesn't have much insulating value.

Dropped my dining room 20°. I made a shade I could roll up by hand and secure with twist ties. Used lath at top and bottom, making the casing using tape. So easy, so cheap.

Water and electricity, that's asking for trouble, doesn't sound very safe. And with the ice in the bottles with all those holes water dripping all on the floor, no, I'll pass, doesn't seem safe

Candles made from cooking oil STINK when burning indoors. Very pretty to look at but the scent is not desirable. Corning put out a line of oil candle containers back in the late 70s or very early 80s. Adding food coloring to the water made them holiday festive but the stench would start as soon as they were lit. Burning cooking oil. Will probably work wonders on your patio with the coffee added to deter bugs.

After you use the foil on your thermopane windows the excess heat will have destroyed the vacuum seal. Winter time will be less pleasant. The glass will eventually fog up in between the panes and the your window will need replacement.

If you put reflective foil on the inside of a double pane insulated window, you will blow out the seal and it will lose its insulation properties. Reflective foil or tinting needs to be applied to the outside of insulated glass windows. This poses a problem when using the reflective blanket solution because then the silver foil will reflect excessive light to others.

Yep, I put foil up every year in the summer. Believe me, it really helps with 24 hrs sunlight a day ! All south and west facing windows get it. Interior Alaska can get hot (90s-100) every summer. Of course I take it down in late summer cooler weather, as I do like the natural light, just not the excessive heat, lol.

Both sides of a survival blanket are identical. The color is just for show, and much less expensive aluminum foil works just fine doing the same task.

I used foam insulation boards from the hardware store. They come in 8 foot by 4 foot sheets for about 10 bucks a sheet. I even cover my sliding glass doors with them, reflective side out for the summer, in for the winter. Winter time is important to cover the entire window and tightly pull the tape like straps on the sides, making it air tight. Fold the tape edges for removability. Put a continuous strip of tape along the seems to be able to fold it like a privacy screen. That way, you can still enjoy the view from your windows, without any strange yellow tint.

that is the WRONG thing to do...by applying the film on the inside it will creates buildup of heat between the panes of glass causing the glass to crack...unless you are using on a single pane window...trust me i know...i have been a glazier for many years...try at your own risk...Thanks

Your lease says that because the owner does not want to replace the windows when they fail in the extra heat. Reflective windows are triple glazed and the reflective layer is on the outside pane and not hermetically sealed.

Not sure where she’s from, everybody doesn’t know what cm and milliliters are compared cups and tables. I wish she would have just done a translation and yes I can look it up I’m not that stupid🤨 But, if you put stuff on utube you should consider that other people don’t use those measurements and vise versa👍

    • @lavapix
      @lavapix Před měsícem +1

Rulers and tapes come with both metric and US measurements. Just by looking at the video, you can estimate lengths, etc... About 4"s for the shades. It doesn't have to be exact.

Alternatively, if you WATCH you tube YOU SHOULD consider that the ONLY country in the world that is not on the METRIC SYSTEM.
Which, in a nutshell, means that YOU are NOT the CENTER of the UNIVERSE so YOU SHOULD educate yourself in the way the entire WORLD works vs the entire WORLD altering to how THE US does something.
Hate to break it to you Lynn but the US is NOT the “GREATEST POWER IN THE WORLD” anymore….you’re going to have to bend that self entitlement at some point. Do it now as even an old dog can learn new tricks. 😉👍🏻
