When I got to that ending area for the first time, I thought it was gonna be some simple puzzle-solving. Then I nearly pissed my pants when the Big Man showed up. Hats off to you Billy
Same here. That droning music really caught me off guard, especially with the way the thing just waltzes onscreen
It's such good design. You feel comfortable exploring and then that weird ass sigh sound comes in.
Vinny has effectively beaten Richter without the Magic Glasses. The credits roll, it's an ending. You could say the rest is just a bonus, but the rest of the game is there to be played. At least as much as his after-midnight brain can handle.
The bubble thing is not some kind of special exploit, it's a totally legit way to play the game, but for some reason chat convinced him that he's like sequence breaking or something for using it to get places. There is no way to sequence break animal well, it's designed that way, I wish people weren't being so touchy about how he's navigating the game.
I skipped like half of the lizard rooms by using it from the room after the crow slinky game room on the dog side
Everyone who ever played the game discovered it, and yet half the people who play it seem to think the developer missed it and its an exploit. It's not an exploit. The developer put a single vertical ghost bird at the top of the well specifically so you couldn't sequence break the ending itself, and there are humminbirds and shadows in ley areas that WOULD be broken if you bubble hopped. The M. Bubble Wand upgrade is a redundancy for players that just suck at the game. Its a gold star for dying 50 times. The developer has also said that he WANTS speedruns and exploits in interviews, so all the pearlclutchers are speaking for no one. It's obnoxious.
While I absolutely agree on the design principles of the bubble wand, I think the gripe was moreso regarding the fact that chat couldn't stand him not knowing the tech or finding it out on his own, spoiling it for Vin the very room after he got the wand.
I think Animal Well's neat, but when most of the discovery is in the tools' hidden uses, that little spoiler definitely robbed a bit of the experience. Didn't help that as a side effect of learning infinite bubble jumping so soon - though mainly caused by yam brain - Vin then struggled to learn bubble riding, a more basic part of the tool.
It's not that some high-level hidden tech was revealed, it's that A) a chat member gave unprompted advice despite there being specific instruction not to do so, and B) said advice led to Vinny bubble-chaining for everything which led to him not grasping that bubbles can last more than a split second of time (since that's all the time he has if he's trying to climb efficiently), which led to him being clueless on simple "just slowly down" portions of the early map that he could've picked up had he learned on his own. Funnily enough this later leads to him having the wrong mentality burnt in (though in no softlocking way) where he uses bubble descent to press a button instead of his yoyo.
@@PanSpaceman it still solves the puzzle all the same, for a game that encourages lateral thinking you sure do get mad that vinny is solving puzzles in ways you didnt. you know the developer designed the tools right? theyre well aware of how they work
It's insane how far he got without opening his inventory a single time. Pausing time when switching tools is so helpful.

In the earlygame it just feels nicer to quickswap since it doesn't pause time and there are just one or two items, but as the game goes on, there are more tight sequences which makes the time pausing greatly useful, and quickswapping to the right tool takes more and more time.
I didn't start doing that till I had to outrun the dog spirit

This is one of the best games I've played this year.
The items are unique and fun, and are effective toys! And the sound design is superb! The creatures are familiar, but so many of the sounds are so... Ever so wrong that it is amazing. I really really love this game.
If you haven't already, you should check out a game called FEZ. To my knowledge, it's the only other puzzle game that's as good or thoughtful as this. Unless Ocarina of Time counts as a puzzle game

Using the menu to equip items (and thus stopping time) is EXTREMELY useful during the manticore fight. I learned that the hard way lol

Animussi Wellussi. This game's addictive. Its 4+minutes to 10 hours to complete depending on % and what you're going for, and its entertaining watching other play it and seeing how they tackle puzzles. Charlie who always boasts while gaming, Dodger who "beat" the game without understanding how to use the bubble wand properly...very good. And Vinny.
Understanding all the mechanics, is the real test of Animal Well, imo. Most are quite fun, and the fact you can cheese alot of the puzzles and sequence break is satisfying.
Then there's the flute, which I still dont fully...like I get it, I just dont have all the "things" with it memorized. Then there's the rest of the things that go way, WAY too hard, like taking the last 2 (worst) puzzles of Tunic and magnifying them times 1000. Some of the overly cryptic shit I dont really appreciate, but as a whole, good game
I went through all the layers and never saw that groveling toad. It's amazing.

I didnt get any of the speedrun stuff my first time playing cause i was thoroughly exploring every area and puzzle I could find. It took me 20 hours toll i felt like finally going to the end

it did not expect you to know bubble trick, you only needed one bubble per perch to get up there and we didnt like you learning the bubble trick before learning every other feature of the bubbles like, floating up on them with the fans which youve still continued to avoid
Who is this "we"? I learned bubble trick instantly because it was obvious, and Vinny was on the way to learning it himself too. Chat member who spoiled it only accelerated the inevitable.
@@cortster12 most of the community if you look at the chat and comments on the videos. That acceleration happened before he learned anything else about the bubble so he got stuck for 40 minutes on something that should probably have taken about 5 if he wasnt spoiled and did the room as intended, forcing you to stand still on a bubble and float up and down. it was frustrating to people which is why he mentioned that people were upset about it.

Reminds me of Undertale backseaters. Wanting you to play the game the way THEY want you to play it. I understand getting a little upset that someone spoiled it, but it's such an easy to figure out mechanic that I'm still baffled chat stayed SO mad over it. If I figured it out instantly, Vinny would have figured it out too. It is really not a big deal.
@@cortster12 it's less that they're mad he figured it out and more that theyre upset he figured it out before *and* instead of everything else to do with bubbles that the very area he was in was trying to teach him, making him stuck for literally over 40 minutes. It was very frustrating to watch, and you could tell he was frustrated too, by it not working well and later about being spoiled.
@andyv2209 I watched too, but that was usual vine blind. He beat game even faster than I did. 40 minutes being stuck isn't a big deal.

okay now all you gotta do is get all 64 eggs, find the S medal, the K medal, the E medal, figure out how to convert all 64 eggs into 64 notes on your animal flute to play a song, find all the rabbits that have been found so far (around 16), beat the game by leaving the well, get eaten by a giant rabbit so you can fly, and finally open up a time capsule with a donkey trapped inside (last stuff is found outside the well)
I had to stop soon after where he is. It's not the fun kind of 100%.
Bits like Carl Jelqington and "I have been yelqing for 35 years" in a nordic accent remind me why Vinny never would have been a good stand-up comedian.
Vinny is painfully relatable for me; same duck noises, same facial hair pattern, same level of vocabulary and art appreciation terminology, similar taste in food/games/tv/music, same exact calm-(ISH) demeanor, almost identical sense of humor, and _I even have the same glitch passive_
I wish I could say it's from watching for at least a decade, but I've always been like this (besides the beard). Somebody pls help

As someone who hasn't seen this game, this spoils absolutely nothing. The fact you say it is spoilers is more of a spoiler than the image.

@@Zorgot. you’re only in the comment section seeing that the thumbnail has a spoiler because you clicked on this video that’s part 3 of a game where the thumbnail is likely apart of the video. if you didn’t want spoilers, you wouldn’t have clicked the video, but the thumbnail still has spoilers on it you cannot avoid if you’re subscribed to this channel (some thumbnails, like this one, don’t have completely obvious spoilers, like an anime intro. However, some people (like me) don’t like that there are even spoilers in the first place when there’s more examples of thumbnails being more spoilery, like pikmin 4). this has has happened multiple times like with pikmin, splatoon 3 side order, and more. why the effort isn’t put in to simply not put a spoiler in the thumbnail is beyond me.
