Great job, invite me next time. I practiced in an empty parking lot working on technique and being able to lay the fly right where I wanted to.

Under neath those overhanging bushes and trees is a good area for trout.

@@JohnLee-ud2gm watched a few jump in that area but I was struggling to cast and get my line in that area even with drifting down stream. I’m slowly learning, went out this past weekend to get the hang of things a little more!

@dtayloradventures Bass and pan fish are pretty easy to catch. Put a fly near them and they will normally hit it.About a size 8 or 10 black wooly bugger is great.

Trout tend to be spookier than bass especially in clear water.Slightly off color water can be better.

Slow down your casting.Let your line come behind you more before shooting line forward.Remember 10 o'clock coming forward and 2 pm going backwards and don't let your rod go further than those two positions as on the hands of a clock.

Start out fishing for bass and pan fish. Easier to catch

@@JohnLee-ud2gm I’m currently using a 5wt 9ft combo, do you think that would be okay to fish Bass with? Or would that be to risky?

@dtayloradventures That’s a little light, but river fishing for smallmouth it would be ok.It would just make fish 10 in long feel like whales. Lol

@dtayloradventures I use a 6 or 7 wt rod for smallmouth in rivers, and it's fine. A longer rod helps you keep better contact with your fly.Remember size 8 or 10 black wooly buggers. Also bigger flies are harder to cast.Have to alter casting a bit.
