Yes, the Dean is pansexual, with his actor, Jim Rash, describing him as such in an interview. But similar to Maeve from "The Boys", who is bisexual, most people would get more behind the depiction of the Dean simply being gay, and dismiss the idea of being attracted to more than one gender.

Reminds me of South Park's Mr. Garrison. When the school said they can't fire them for being gay so he went above and beyond to be as inappropriate as possible in front of the students to get fired but the parents cheered for everything he did because they're so tolerant. The students said "There's one thing, being gay. Then there's Mr. Garrison." so they got sent to Intolerance Camp.
It's not fun. I don't blame these guys for wanting to stay out of there.
