Thank you for the comment! Yeah, I never ever imagined that this video would get all of this viewership. Isai don’t know if I would say I’m an expert :P but honestly it’s not just Hawaii that has it bad with hobby stores mainland USA does too. The hobby stores I’ve all been in recently, on the east coast, and in mid America where I live now... suck! They don’t sell anything relevant to FPV, and it’s all Spektrum radios and receivers. I can’t go to these stores for anything except a simple cable or connector if I need it. Hobby stores will probably all be dead in another 10 years since they’ve failed to be more up to date and internet prices and stores are hard to compete with.
adrian gough No problem; I’m happy this helped you out! And yes; exactly, you get an R-XSR and go OMG MUST INSTALL NOW and can easily miss this. That’s exactly what happened to me. 🤣
Glad to see I'm not alone. Thanks for posting this. I had just about given up hope of ever getting this quad in the air. I was one happy guy tonight when my first build flew great! Thanks again!
I just want to thank you for this vid...I was losing my mind of this damn receiver. Saw the instructions, but just did not put 2 and 2 together. You saved my sanity, seriously.
You are welcome; thank you so much for taking the time to comment! I subscribed. I really believe that after seeing how many people have been confused by this as time has gone on that frsky probably made a mistake by changing this. I don't understand why they couldn't have kept sbus the yellow wire...
You are absolutely wonderful!!! After several days of troubleshooting with INAV 2.2.1 & Matek F722-Wing & Frsky R-SXR & R-X6R receivers, you have the solution.
John Cuppi you are great!!! Now it works again! Thank you very much!
I'm stumped. I updated the rsxr firmware. I bound it to my radio before I installed it. I installed it in a Tinyhawk 2 that was getting CALIB flag using the onboard SPI receiver and it would fall out of the sky. So the Tinyhawk seemed to have more problems because the motors stopped spinning up, it began to only connect to Betaflight sometimes when I would plug it in, but I got light flashes when I would arm and in Betaflight the receiver was working. I took the RXSR off the Tinyhawk and just ordered a new FC for the TH. So I installed the RSXR in my first build. A Succex f4 V2.1 16x16 stack. I wired it as you showed here. I have it in the correct places on the FC, but when I plug a battery into the quad there are no lights on the RSXR. No lights, no movement in Betaflight in the receiver tab. I took the receiver off and plugged into a 5v 1.5a power supply and the lights light up as they should. Plug it back into the quad and nothing. I thought maybe I have a bad solder joint even though they look good. I desoldered the 3 wires and soldered them back to the FC and still no lights on the receiver. Also strange, plugging a battery into the quad will give me all the start up tones except for the last 2. If I have it plugged into the computer/Betaflight and then plug a battery in, I get all the tones. I can spin the motors up in Betaflight, but no receiver. Do you have any idea what this could be? I'm going nuts here. I've broken the flight controller on my Tinyhawk 2. I broke the frame and one motor on my Tinyhawk Freestyle 2. I have this beautiful 3 inch Tadpole with a nice stack, Xing 1404 4600kv motors, a beautiful day that is slipping away, and rain in the forecast for tomorrow. I even used the smoke stopper you recommended just to make sure I didn't blow anything up.
No problem - you and so many others made this mistake including myself because we didn’t read, but also because FrSky broke their traditional pattern of yellow = sbus for some reason. They should have left that alone, obviously it has thrown off tons of people, this vid got more views than I ever imagined. Thanks for the comment!
Just spent 2 plus hours trying to figure out this very problem! And just happened upon this video. Yup, I even looked at the instructions many times... Thank you for sharing this!

Hello, I think I have this problem, I have a second Nazgul5, not woking the receiver, R-XSR, I update a firmware by using this cable you show, then radio and receiver are conected, But not working. Should I change the yellow one? If It change this cable Will I work? Sorry But I did not understand It at all... Please help me !! Thank you
Hi buddy some I am having this problem I had it working and then I updated the firmware on my flight controller through beta flight now I'm not getting any inputs I will admit I am new so I don't really what I'm doing. Are you saying to change the wires on the firmware cable before you do the firmware it are you saying switch the wires going into flight controller? If I had it working before then maybe it's an issue of the firmware from the flight controller and the receiver not being compatable.. And also on the uart setting on beta flight how do I know which uart to click on?? Thanks for this video.

Well, I was getting crazy until I found your vids. Thanks....
I just upgraded from xm+ and did failsafe and my quad wont spin motors...everything is as it was...i also did the wire switch like the video...i see the inputs work and arm and failsafe work in betaflight...i just plug batteries and arm then i get no spinies😵💫...
I bought a BNF and flew it once. I ripped off the antennas to the r-sxr and now it won’t arm or show imputs in Betaflight. But it shows signal on On the R-axr and my Taranis.. what did I do to it?
that is actually a cable for if you want to flash your receiver with your controller which is what the other end of that connector is for :)
Geoffrey Martin yup exactly right. I cover a bit about that also at 1:54 :)
@@JohnCuppi the problem I had with my Rsxr was actually holding the bind button down too long which went into another mode oops spent almost an hour in betaflight figuring out why the blue light and binding worked for my friend's QX7 but not mine which he helped me get my quad setup
Thanks for the help boss
Man you were on the money! Thanks!
Thanks for posting this vid...You helped again!
I had the same problem.... my fix was that the RXSR was in PWM mode and not SBUS... pulled my hair out for 2 hours before I decided to RTFM instead of going on YT videos alone. Switched the RXSR to SBus mode and...Problem solved.
This has probably saved my butt just rebuild a wizx220s for a friend with the old 4xr which i knew would bind and give me sticks in betaflight now watching this i knew i made a mistake on my tbs source with the rxsr and probably the rx4r .....i just want to fly 😭
Great Bro tutorial 👌👍✔
Thanks ✌
Thank-you for posting this.
Saludos desde Ecuador excelente informacion
,, Hello friend I have a question as you have a lot of knowledge I have a problem with a receiver is the rxsr frsky is giving me a lot of rx loss and it crashes to the ground you could solve it
Hi! Thanks a LOT for this video, i lost 2 days to connect it properly.
Now you can fly! :)
Great info, did u wire up the telemetry wire , is it simple to set up?
Gavlar Fpv 78 No I haven’t. I want to take a look at the F port stuff which supposedly can transmit more telemetry over a single wire but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. With this setup you just get basic RSSI telemetry which is most important to me.
I still can't connect to my radio. I use EU. I flashed my r-xsr to eu with the newest firmware. Same with my radio and sd card. It still wont bind.
now the Rxsr supports F.port. So the cable will connect to the S.port pin. I know this video is old. Just FYI
Good tip. One thing I think to remember is that you need to flash firmware that has f.port as well.
I have a radiomaster tx16s I can't get no feedback with my radio into betaflight my logical switchers is not working in it and I do not know what to do to get it working in betaflight I have frsky 2.4 GHz r-xsr module can you help
YIKES...Holy crap John. I thought you were going to do a Kamikaze going through those tree limbs. That is balls my Friend. You get the "Brass Balls" award for the month :-)
LMAO thanks Mike. That's some video from last summer. Do you like my ~15 seconds or so of outtro video I've been doing lately? I capture so much FPV video but I don't ever have anything to do with it, so I've started using it for vids like this.
No, I don't believe so :-(
You Beauty! I had the white wired up not the green. Thanks John!
Thank you
Muy bueno...gracias..genial video!!
