    For all the gringos who can read me, I am Salvadoran and I left my country in the 80's, not because I wanted to but because of the bad governments, I arrived in the legal U.S. and learned from their culture, no one welcomed me with open arms but they did teach me to be a better person. I will always be grateful to the gringo people, I never naturalized because I did not think I would leave the U.S. but Nayid Bukele has given us back our dignity and now we will return to make EL SALVADOR a great country. Here all the good ones will be welcome

      I've worked with a number of guys from El Salvador, in the Pennsylvania Bluestone industry. To be totally honest, I've never been a fan of the huge influx of undocumented migrants, but I'd never disrespect these guys for their hard work ethic, or the determination they have to support family, leaving everything behind for years. Most I've ever been acquainted with have never been the criminal types that many in other areas seem to experience. I've only known the decent and hard working family types.
      I often wonder if it's all truly worth it for them though. I understand the pay and opportunity differs drastically from their homes, but that time with family and home community is something we can never put a real value on, and we can never retrieve the time we've lost. I often wonder if they look back on that time as a huge mistake, chasing the dollar, regardless of the improvements it may provide in quality of life. I'd hope they could find a way to build a better future for their home countries, and never have to consider such sacrifice. It would be nice if their only reasons for traveling to the US could involve leisurely pursuits, like vacations and tourism, going forward. I sincerely wish them well. I think El Salvador is on a much more prosperous path.

      Es ley, pero lamentablemente muchas veces no se obedece, no solo por falta de cultura y educación vial, pero por que la infraestructura 3er mundista no lo permite, por ejemplo en Santa Ana, la mayoria de calles son de un solo carril, y en el area de el mercado. Hay ventas en las aceras que se derraman a las calles, haciendolas aun mas angostas. Esperemos que poco a poco, esto se corrija, y ya no haya necesidad de multar para que la gente de espacio a las ambulancias.

    Gentrification is worrisome, it happens every time, when a lot of Americans or Europeans move to a developing country, every price increases and the locals have a hard time.

    • @firstnamelastname6926
      @firstnamelastname6926 Před 8 měsíci

      True but when done correctly it also brings a lot of money and jobs and intellectual capital. But if it's people who just want to sit in an air b n b and pay 3x what locals pay for a few months then that's bad.

    • @Kvitkasapiens
      @Kvitkasapiens Před 8 měsíci

      mostly is about guys who does not want to pay taxes, so they star for a few months, less than 6 months in every country, they pay 1000 dollars on an airbnb and then leave, i went to San Salvador last week and the airbnb market there is very expensive and not very good, if you want to stay on a nice zone of the city prices can go up to 100$ a night or more, regular housing is already expensive there, in a decent neighborhood the apartments begin with 1200$ which is crazy for the local salaries. So no, mostly bad things comes from gentrification.@@firstnamelastname6926

  • @RenaldoSan

    I was there last month. I've traveled to many Latin countries. I saw New York prices for food. Homes are Northeastern USA expensive and many are lacking infrastructure for water etc. I would buy land and see how the country develops. To be honest I see taxesbeing levied soon to help much of the Salvadorian population that is impoverished.

    • @GenERICexpats
      @GenERICexpats  Před 5 měsíci

      Interesting input. I cant say ive ever found a full lunch in New York for $2.50.... or in any of USA for that matter.
      As for property - did you look in Escalon or San Benito? Or where was it?
      I feel like you're possibly comparing apples to oranges

    • @RenaldoSan
      @RenaldoSan Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yes the local vendors are cheap. I was in Merlot and got some tacos from a small shop that was packed with locals. I had diarrhea for 4 days. If you go to restaurants or the shopping stores food is the same price as here in NY. Now you can go to the mercados or street vendors and they are cheap but the choices are limited and you have to travel there. I went to Berlin to look at homes, EL Tunco, LA Libertad and Cuidad de Arboles. In Berlin one home I was showed needed a lot of repairs ( I'm a Realtor and Loan Officer) the place had a lot of infrastructure and repair issues and the asking price was $350k. Ridiculous... There are no standards for pricing real-estate and appraisals have no bearing on deals. So the sky is the limit for sellers and landlords renting properties. I saw one place go up $20k in two weeks when a few people showed interest.
      A lot of infrastructure is not setup and many Salvadorian's don't have running water and live very simply since that's what they can afford.
      While I was there I worked with 2 realtors. Each tried to charge me for consultation one wanted $1,500 USD and he did it part-time. I did my own professional search. Sorry but I took a solid look at El Salvador and it's just not for me.

      @RenaldoSan no harm done. These videos are educational and are meant to help inform to make future expat lifestyle choices.
      Do you by chance speak spanish?
      I know a lot non-spanish speakers get quoted the "gringo premiums" for literally everything.
      Regardless, El Tunco and such places are expat hubs so youd have to compare it to trendy cities in USA such as Denver IMO...

    • @RenaldoSan
      @RenaldoSan Před 5 měsíci +1

      @GenERICexpats I understand your position.
      I just wanted to share what was uncovered when I peeled back the vail and took a look.
      Bukele is doing wonderful things yet it's still a developing 3rd world country with it's own rules and path toward development.
      To be frank even here in the US real estate market, Florida has undergobe some seriuos development changes.
      People flocked there the last 4 years. Now taxes are going through the roof (doubling for some) to support infrastructure/improvements for the influx of people and homeowners insurance doubled as well for some and home prices have skyrocked. Some people are being forced to sell (in particular, retirees on a modest fixed income) and move out of the state. There are rules and standards, etc, in Florida that are not in El Salvador thus one really needs to look closely.
      And yes both my wife and I speak Spanish.
      Cheers

    El Salvador will be expensive for many Americans and I don't recommend you move here unless you make 4k a month or you won't have a life like in the USA. Your rent for a good apartment like in the USA in El Salvador will average between 1 to 2.5k and groceries will average between 500 to 1k a month for 1 person. Don't even get started on buying furniture here, go to siman, sears or curacao and you will pay more on everything than you would pay in the USA this includes electronics, kitchen appliances, etc. Gas is 4 bucks a gallon minimum and doesnt change much on the downside so your paying Arizona gas prices living in a 3rd world country. Things to consider before you make the leap. Probably better off in neighboring countries also mexico is a lot more cheaper than here
