$600 Ebike! Does It Suck? The Asgurd TRD Pro

  • If you're looking for a cheap, entry level, folding electric bike with fat tires that gets good range while also being comfortable, you might want to consider the Asgurd TRD Pro. It has a 500W motor, front suspension, a 12.8aH 48V battery, and a really comfortable seat. The folding mechanism seemed a bit weird at first, but I actually think it's good because it makes it easy to lift the bike as you fold the ebike. This is the Asgurd TRD Pro folding ebike, if you want to buy it, click the link below. If you want the Heybike Mars ebike, click the second link. Thank you!

    To add about bike with a cadence sensor over a torque sensor. To get going it's best to use throttle for a second or two to get going. Especially if you're in traffic areas.

    Thanks for taking the time to review and post. I admire anyone with the time & energy. Even a simple video takes up a lot of time. I'm excited about an economy e-bike option. With equal concerns about quality & Chinese products. I try not to invest in the CCP economy. Seems almost impossible. Biggest issue is sourcing a retailer. Hardly anyone carries the item! Cheers!

    Good review. Thanks for taking the time. Perhaps there is a way to adjust the cadence sensor in the programming? Also, try folding the bike while standing on the other side, you’ll find it much easier from the left side. How was the range?

    • @rmoreno6014
      @rmoreno6014 Před 9 měsíci

      I have this model as well. Yes you can go into the programming of the controller and adjust the cadence. I did that, as well as other adjustments that made the bike perform exceptionally well. I got mine to do 32 m.p.h. with the throttle. It is a push throttle and not the twist kind..so that is one draw back. Great excelleration. Hydraulic brakes stop on a dime. This was almost like a class 3!!

    • @everythingebike

      Thank you for your kind words and feedback! I appreciate you taking the time to watch my review. As for adjusting the cadence sensor, I'll definitely look into that and see if there's a way to tweak the programming. And thanks for the tip about folding the bike from the left side, I'll give it a try! In terms of range, I found it to be quite impressive. I was able to cover a good distance without any issues.

    I guess not all cadence sensors are created equally. On both of my e-bikes, the motor kicks in on the first pedal revolution. Actually, not even one cycle of the pedals - just a fraction. Because of this, I like to use the throttle to start out unless it's on PAS 1.

    • @everythingebike
      @everythingebike  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting. Cadence sensors aren’t all equal. The one on the Asgurd is adjustable through a hidden menu. But even at the most sensitive level, it still took a few turns if the crank to get going. You get what you pay for. 💵💵💵

    • @danimayb
      @danimayb Před rokem

      My current cadence sensor (KT 6 magnet) picks up in just a fraction of pedal when you are already moving and you stop and start again, But from a stand still it takes half a rotation sometimes more sometimes less.. Weird, But not an issue as I use the throttle to start anyway. (it's adjusted to full sensitivity).

    • @everythingebike
      @everythingebike  Před rokem

      P6 is wheel size, it's the outside diameter of the wheel, so the e-bike can accurately measure speed. For this bike, with a 20 x 4 fat tire, it's 22.5 inches. P7 is Motor Speed Magnet Type, set it to 100 if you have a geared (with a multi-gear sprocket attached) motor. P14 is Controller Current Limit, for this bike set to to 12 for 12 amps. Hope this helps! 👍👍👍

    All bike must able to have battery for 5 hrs drive and also can cover at least 160 miles. All to bring things like food delivery. Speed can be at least 45 mph

    • @everythingebike
      @everythingebike  Před 6 měsíci

      Your point about e-bikes having a battery life of 5 hours and a range of at least 160 miles is intriguing, especially in the context of food delivery. 🚴‍♂️🔋 Such capabilities would indeed be beneficial for extended use and covering larger distances. However, a speed of 45 mph is quite high for standard e-bikes, particularly when considering safety regulations and urban traffic conditions. 🚦 It's important to balance performance with safety and legal requirements. Developing e-bikes that meet these needs while ensuring rider and pedestrian safety will be a key challenge for manufacturers. Your insight into the potential of e-bikes in delivery services is certainly thought-provoking and highlights the evolving needs in this sector. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 🚚🌿

    All LHD countries have bicycles configured with front-right, as do motorcycles virtually everywhere (hence 'Moto'). China which is a RHD country and the US Virgin Islands (LHD) also do. Since China, India and about 25% of other countries around the world use front-right (incl. on eBikes) - it is probably more prevalent worldwide in terms of number of riders. But if you aren't expecting it - it can be a bit of a surprise - usually easily reconfigurable.

      32 m.p.h. top speed & cadence sensitivity adjustment when u program the controller. Mine was made in Israel....is the only difference....

    I'm honestly surprised they're using a suspension saddle at this cost level.
    Obviously a suspension seatpost combination would be even better, but as shown in the description, it does result in a higher bill of materials(BOM) and as such, a relatively significant increase in cost because of the comfort benefit.
    One thing I'm starting to get annoyed with these budget ebikes is that they allllll use the exact same components. Same exact freewheel setup, same exact shifter, same exact tires, very similar designs, etc.
    Differentiating themselves would help a lot, even if it increased costs by a good margin since the electronic components themselves are quite decent.
    Instead of the standard 14-28t freewheel, some of them could offer an 11-28t setup, and for those with 8 speed setups, an 11-34t freewheel for very large functioning ranges.
    Slick fat tires instead of somewhat MTB style knob fat tires with plastic(TPU) tubes instead of the standard butyl tube.
    Proper light optic setup using a lower CCT(4000k) LED, allowing for greater visibility and behaving like an actual headlight.
    Proper custom chainguard with a 52T chainring! As it turns out, chainguards greatly extend chain life, so having one would be extremely useful.
    On that topic, I'd like to know if any lower end bike manufacturers actually clean and grease their chains, since most factory lubricants are low performing and are absolute dirt magnets.

      Thank you for watching and commenting! I think most e-bikes are constructed with components from various manufacturers. Frames from one, tires and wheels from another, and so forth. So they’re buying what’s cheap. Better e-bikes have better components, more quality control, and brand management. 🚴‍♂️⚡️🚴‍♂️

    We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. czcams.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

People are bonehead for thinking you can buy a ebike at $1000, let alone $600 and that you will get a reliable Grade A safe battery at those prices, let alone any quality in the rest of the bike.

    • @jdgoesham5381
      @jdgoesham5381 Před rokem

      Yea if someone only has 1k to buy an ebike their best bet is to buy used from someone who barely touched it and found it wasn't for them for eg or to build their own from an existing bike. Though sometimes you can find huge sales where a company is coming out with their new line and selling their former line at 60% off or better. And then add a coupon code and you can get a good deal that way. But otherwise a bike you pay 1k for on like Amazon or at a local Dicks is going to be total shit. And probably dangerous in a few ways. Battery like you said or brakes.

    • @RailBuffRob
      @RailBuffRob Před rokem +5

      @@everythingebike It's not the charger you have to worry about, it's manufacturers going cheap on the battery management system and using cells that were not intended for the amount of power that is expected of them. Lithium batteries are actually at their most volatile state when completely discharged, which is why a properly implemented battery management system will automatically cut out the battery or any individual cells if the voltage is below a certain threshold. The problem is that a decent battery management system costs money and manufacturers are fighting to have the lowest cost product so they cut corners on safety.

      @everythingebike  Před rokem

      Great info! ✅

    • @RailBuffRob
      @RailBuffRob Před rokem +2

      @@everythingebike To complicate things a bit more, the older way to implement a battery management system is with a separate circuit board wired in to the individual cells or banks of cells. The newer method which has become the most common is for each cell to have it's own internal BMS.
      The older style cells requiring an external BMS are still available, but when a manufacturer is looking for the cheapest cells they can get they go with the older style cells and wire them up the same way they would with the newer style cells resulting in a battery with no BMS and thus no protection from being discharged all the way.
