That book Julia is it based on a character from 1984 by a modern writer? I just finished Holy Skirts by Rene Steinke, which had some almost voyeuristic sex scenes, but since it is a novel based on the life of Baroness Elsa of Dada Art Movement, especially her and Marcel Duchamp making a sex scene for an early film (don't know if all of it really happened), I think that was the idea.😊 My favorite drag queen character is from Midnight In the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt, have a signed copy but read long ago and now I'm not sure that I'm not remembering The Lady Chablis being interviewed by John Cusack (love him and his sister too) from the movie.❤ Have read and collected Patchett, particularly remember Taft and Bel Canto and I will read the new one Tom Lake. Good picture in the tourist book shop. I generally enjoy books written between the wars, so Persephone will appeal to me, I bought Memoirs of Hadrian by Marguerite Yourcenar during Women In Translation, does that count)? ❤❤❤📚

Not all Persephone books are between war but quite a few are. If you’re into that era highly recommend Shrines of Gaiety by Kate Atkinson. Recently read it and loved it. Julia is by a modern author yes, it’s out next month I think.

Lesser Known Monsters of the 21st Century by Kim Fu is a lovely collection of short stories Canadian small press…and I am finally reading Fire Rush on yours (and your mum’s recommendation) and I’m loving it.
