I find it funny that now-in days it is hard to find a negative criticism of this game.
Back then I felt lile a weirdo for liking this and Knight so much when they came out. People were too harsh on them and now, look at what we got (SSKTJL) and how everyone that gave them crap are now all of a sudden in love with these games
Because people have come to realize that Arkham Orgins is a good game that came out at a bad time.

Honestly I feel bad I fall into that group of people and I actively told people to avoid this back in the day.. now it's one of my absolute favourites!
What's crazy to me is I actively avoided this game up until 2023 when I was replaying every Arkham game back in the honor of the news of the late great Kevin Conroy's death. Just so happened to play every other game, then wanted more so bought Arkham origins and I loved it.
It's almost like people over-hated this game because it wasn't made by Rocksteady...

No it is because it was broken. Its a fun game but I don’t like fans rewriting history. The general audience didn’t know or cared who made the game.

@@morlife0273 Apparently Rocksteady had a completely different game in mind. From what I’ve been able to gather through the years this was originally a Rocksteady game. WB wanted something in between Arkham City and Knight because Knight would take a long time.
Rocksteady’s Arkham Origins would have been a golden age prequel and had appearances from the Justice League. I guess they were taking the Grant Morrison approach when it comes to canon.
Rocksteady didn’t think they could manage two games because the studio was so small and suggested someone else make it in early development.
The CZcamsr Kwing is a great resource for stuff like this. He use to know some devs at the studio and WB. We will never know but I’ve heard the same story being repeated over the years on different websites/groups so there probably is some truth to it. One of the guys shared concept art for Arkham Beyond years before it leaked on the internet so I believe what was being said.
Apparently there was also a Superman demo in the works after Arkham City but it was scrapped but they used the destruction technology from it for the Batmobile. I’ve only heard Kwing say this no one else so I don’t believe it as strongly as the golden age prequel stuff.
Or this could be all wrong who knows lol. Maybe one day someone will interview Sefton Hill and ask about this.

You know, another reason Kevin and Mark weren't in Origins is because they were WAY too busy with Knight, Mark having 200-300 Lines in the game, while Kevin had 37,000 recorded lines! And that's only as much as we know!
That makes sense as I remember hamil saying he was done with joker after city but I think that was part of the twist of him being back in knight
@@Guyinthetie Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, Hamil, Kevin, Troy, and Roger have earned their places in the Batman hall of fame, Roger would be perfect for a Long Halloween game.
i feel like the release of SSKTJL has had a lot more people going back to the old arkham games and realizing how good they actually were (at least for me since i got back into them around the time ssktjl game out + many game reviewers)
It's 100% why I went back to Arkham Asylum was just supposed to be a look at that game but I got sucked into revisiting all of them and have been loving it

You know I feel you about how underrated it was. I bought origins last week to revisit certain times, like the black mask detective section. While watching this video I realized how I love origins so much, especially with the villains made of helium. Great video!

Arkham Origins is brilliant. I play through it every Christmas. The game's soundtrack and snowy look really gets me in the mood.

@@Guyinthetiethere's also a lovely touch found in the cutscene after Batman finds Alfred dying that can only be appreciated with subtitles on. As Batman is shocking Alfred the subtitles show that, as he is pleading for Alfred to pull through, he is speaking as Bruce, not Batman.
Seeing Origins get a new look at nowadays brings me so much joy, I played this game to DEATH back then.
I definitely agree with how you like your side quests, a lot of them branch off from the main story. I'd even argue that Anarky fits as much as say Black Mask, as he's literally spawned out of the corruption and greed from Gotham's police force and justice system.
And we literally deal with anarky then end up going to the GCPD and seeing the corruption first hand... Such good writing man!! 💪🏻👔
I absolutely love the moment where Batman has to defibrillate Alfred.
Logically, you know he can't actually die because he's in City, but the dialogue and Batman's despair really sells the moment in spite of that.
I also love how the subtitles refer to Batman instead as "Bruce Wayne" while you're shocking Al. Really goes to show just who he is in that moment, a young man afraid that he's just lost what's left of his family.

I've loved Origins since day one and seeing it given the love it deserves makes me happy. It's my favorite Arkham game and the absolute best one hands down. It's easily got the best story in the series and City's great gameplay with my favorite Gotham to fly around in.

Origins had good voice acting with Roger Craig smith and Troy baker, they did amazing and I’d like to see more especially from RCS with Conroys passing

Rocksteady strangely likes Mad Hatter a lot, even though he kinda sticks out as a Batman villain... The only thing he really has going for him is... Well... Drugs...

I absolutely loved this game, both when it first came out but especially now when I replayed it recently. I loved the concept of the last battle against bane as the joker makes Batman question his no kill rule and it really set up the whole relationship between batman and the joker which we saw take place throughout the series
I still remember launch being rough for the game but so happy about giving it another go!

I got Origins as an early gift on Xmas eve, the setting of the game matching perfectly with the real world forever makes this game amazing in my heart :)
I think I might need to give it another play through at Xmas this year maybe on the hardest difficulty as a stream game 🤔

11:05 it did exist back then, but because bruce sucked at making his gadgets work a long time early on it got destroyed, plus in knight its explained that the suits in asylum and city couldnt really handle the g-forces with the missing armor bruce has in origins
Still find it odd how they go out of their way to say the boost is a prototype 🤔
@@Guyinthetie Maybe after the one Bruce had broke and he armored down they abandoned the grappling boost project before he made WayneTech look into it again seeing he needed to get places quicker after the asylum incident
one thing that turned me from hating the deadshot boss to loving it was waiting until later when you get equipment like the glue grenade and improved disruptor to take him on, and also the realization that you can throw batarangs at thugs strung on gargoyles to cut them down and reopen them for inverted takedowns as much as you like also makes it much more enjoyable and easy to take his men down. One last thing is that going up to him for a silent takedown but immediately doing that knockout smash thing does the same ammount of damage as a normal beatdown while also being way quicker. Hope this is like all tangible and im not speaking nonsense ekfdrnkg lol

This was the final Arkham game I played and I’m kinda glad it was the last one I played because it was my favorite in the series and I finished the game in one night like I was actually Batman or sum.
I loved their portrayals of pretty much all the characters (Especially Joker and Bane) and the snow setting is great, overall a great game

It's really great to see games such as Arkham Origins, Assassin's Creed III and Assassin's Creed Unity get the respect they never got at launch these days. Really underrated titles of their respective franchises.

Loved origins when it came out and still do to this day. It may be the “weakest” of the Arkham series but that is not an insult. It’s still an amazing game, it’s just flawed
It's flawed but I think it gets right the issues I had with Arkham city and that's impressive
I was thankfully in the group of people who saw the game and was like "sick more batman!" Instead of "this game wasn't made by rocksteady! This game is trash!" I just thought the prospect of "more batman" was all i needed. Heck, for the longest time, i didn't even know it was made by a differant company.
So glad I ventured back and gave it another shot, such a good batman title 💪🏻👔

i remember getting each arkham game after Asylum for christmas when they’d come out. i was maybe i was maybe 11 when origin came out and the amount of different interesting characters really made it stand out to me compared to city. before i could enjoy game quality like pop in, load times and story. all the assassins and how they would pop up really made the game one of my favourites in the series. of course its only became equal to the rest to me. i wish there would be a remaster that would solve the issues that plague it. i can barely find anhthjng to disagree with what you say in these vids. love it

Apparently Kevin Conroy spoiled Knight's existence to someone cause he didn't even know about Origins. So when someone asked him how he feels about "the new game" and if he's in it meaning Origins, he answered that he is in it thinking Knight probably was announced by that time even though it wasn't

I wish they would just Port or Remaster Origins to modern consoles.
In fact the Arkham Games need the Resident Evil Treatment and Remake Arkham Asylum, City, and Origins since the Suicide Squad KTJL game has f'ed it all up.

That'd way it'd make sense in Knight.
Yet another example of a botched release where a game that was hilariously broken at launch turned out to be really good after all the bugs were finally patched out. Still a few bugs, found one place where you can reliably glitch straight through the ground by power bombing into it from a specific point and end up stuck under the map until you find a way to kill yourself, but I love finding bugs so I found that very entertaining.

Arkham Origins is probably the best game storywise but I really hate the fact that I had so many bugs through my first playthrough (I started playing the game month ago). Also I'm pissed that I couldn't complete all worst nightmare challenges outside of the main story and there weren't that many good side quests.
I'm surprised how many bugs are still present in origins so many years later 💪🏻👔

Actually Batman had the grappling boost before. the city and asylum suits are just to weak to handle them but the origins and arkham knight armor lets him use it

The Arkham Franchise it's my favorite video-games of all time...
I just wanna thank you for this video, Arkham Origins for some reason is the only one (besides Origins Blackgate but we don't talk about it...) that the fans don't give a try or played for 30 minutes and gave up cause "it's not a true Arkham game". But this game it's one of the best Arkham games and it's my top 2 also! I dont understand why gamers prefer to ignore it, it's a exelent game! And the story is so good, the boss fights are one of the best in the franchise, I love the character development between Batman and Joker, it really works! I dare to say its the best interaction between those two in the franchise. This was the firts Arkham game that I played, so maybe it's cause of that I praise this game so much... Arkham Origins always gonna be in my hearth! I always loved the game, and wanted to him to have more reconigtion... and finally that is happening, people are realising why this game is a true Arkham game. Watching your video made me nostlagic and emotional seeing the love that you gained with game.

I enjoyed Origins. I enjoyed it then and still do now! Even the different voice actors didn’t bug me. The cut scenes though are top notch. Maybe the story could of went a different direction but overall still pleasing

im right there with you with asylum. arkham city does everything that asylum does and does it better minus a few minor aspects. the gameplay in knight is objectively head and shoulders superior to the prior three games. but something about asylum… maybe its the nostalgia, maybe its the setting, maybe its the map, or scarecrows nightmares but its been my favorite game since i was a kid and probably still is.
It's a testament to less is more as it will always be my favourite 💪🏻👔

I didn’t mind the Arkham origins. It was just OK. The voice of Batman just sounded very uncomfortably.. sure he sounded terrifying but it was okay in terms of gameplay. But it’s freeze every now and then
This was my first arkham game,i dont recommend doing that tho,bcz if u start with this game,the other arkham games will feel slack.i believe this is the best in the series.
Yeah it maybe the prequel but I think it's best to play the series in release order as the gameplay just continues to get better with each title 💪🏻👔

This used to be my favourite arkham game in all honesty. Partially due to it being so hated on which made me love it more but also because of its story and how good the game is given the circumstances. I don’t think there is a definitive best arkham game since there’s just too much to take into account but origins remains my 2nd favourite after asylum. Rankings are tricky because people assume what’s at the bottom is the worst which is fair but really it’s just down to preference.

when i was introduced to the arkham games i would olay them on my uncles laptop so i never played arkham knight because it was too powerful for the laptop and also me being young i always prefered arkham Origins and now its probably my fav or second favorite depends on the day tbh its pretty interchangeable with asylum

@@Guyinthetie I just remember being irritated that some of the assassins were just excuses for side missions when the marketing made it seem like they would be the main story
I recently played this fully for the first time, because just like you I didn't like it back in the day (it also was insanely glitched on release, like, couldn't progress in the story kinda glitched, so that didn't help)
I don't think of it as fondly as you do however
I think it has some excellent stuff (the Deadstroke fight) but I personally hated the Copperhead fight. Felt too derivative of what had been before. The bridge fight was AWFUL, just do the same thing over and over again. The Bane fight was AWFUL. Do the same thing over and over again. It genuinely just felt jank through and through. I rate it lowest personally. Asylum first, then City, then Knight, then Origins. I put Asylum first as well because it just "got" the comic book aesthetic and atmosphere correctly. At launch I preferred City but over the years I kinda lost interest in it. Knight is awesome, I like it more than City but I HATE what they did to Scarecrow and a lot of the other designs (Ivy as well for instance... she's like... not even the same person)
Knight is pretty split in the community I'm really looking forward to revisiting it for the video

Arkham Origins is an interesting title because it's both nowhere as bad as some claim it is, but also not nearly as good as other claim either.
I personally love the story, especially after replaying it. There were definitely missed opportunities and I also didn't like the way they handled Joker.
I do like the work Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker did though, and I wouldn't mind them continuing Arkham in a retcon of Suicide Squad.
However, there's something off about the combat. There's a slight timing issue between this and Arkham City which breaks the combat to me. Also, there are a ridiculous amount of different enemies and while that's challenging, once you get the electric gloves combat is broken.
Either way, I do love this title and like the rest, I've 100% this game and got all the Steam Achievements.
I get that you mean with the timing issues, I kinda put it down to not having the counter anymore and that I might of been out of sync but there was definitely something slightly off and it's only very slightly
@Guyinthetie haha yeah, there's like a few split seconds of delay that makes quite a difference. It's probably my biggest gripe. Also the game is prone to random glitches, like with the henchman in your video that got stuck.
It was always my favorite of the games. Great fights and story.

In love origins but Tracey makes replaying so difficult because it's the worst accent and take on a Brit in a video game I've ever seen or unfortunately had to hear

This is my second favorite too. It was between this and Asylum but the writing and boss fights, not to mention the more polished gameplay, give this a good advantage.

Merry Christmas, Batman Arkham origins when it first came out was super glitchy, lots of the bugs have never been fixed, but I had lots of fun with origins, the story might have been a bit predictable in some parts but overall I liked the story and gameplay, the acting was really good too. Side note worse game in the Batman Arkham games, is the sequel to Batman Arkham origins (even though they came out on the same day) , and that game is Batman Arkham origins blackgate, that game is honestly so annoying to play, I wouldn’t recommend anyone to play that game
It's why I skipped it, that was 100% a cash grab and isn't a true Arkham game in my eyes 💪🏻👔

This game has the best and most accurate depiction of Bane outside the comics. They really managed to expertly portray Bane's intelligence and struggle with Venom as well as his Santa Priscan background in that game and J.B. Blanc's performance was really captivating.
Wdym was it really that good, it IS that good and everyone hated it when it came out

39:08 I think that is just an artistic representation in Joker's vision of how he first saw Batman in the Killing Joke story in the comics and when he was surrounded by darkness and having his sight screwed up because he was wearing the Red Hood helmet, to him at the time Batman looked like a monster.
