    Thanks for the video Jason. My wife are looking at the Telluride as a new vehicle and since I love to get out camping and fishing,you have made a great argument for the vehicle(I'm already sold,but have to convince the wife). I have the benifit of knowing the Kia line pretty well as ,when they first came up here to Canada in the early 2000's I worked as a salesman at a newly established Kia dealer and learned to love the little Korean cars.This new Telluride and it's cousin the Hyundai Pallisade look like good,heavy duty ,AWD units that do the job and are not gonna cost an arm and a leg to purchase OR maintain. Looking forward to enjoying your channel and seeing the mods you have done to make the truck even better for an outdoor lifestyle....thanks again from Mike,up here in the Great White North.

      I agree. No reason to whine that there are better vehicles. I just hope Jason keeps it honest. If he comes to a situation where his truck would perform better and overcome an obstacle that the Telluride won't, I want him to share it.

      Fair enough, stock the old Ford would be able to get many more places than the stock KIA, but I am excited to get the lift on it and do a little work to the front and then I am very interested myself to see how AWD will compare to standard four wheel drive.

      I am sorry I don't actually have answer for you on that because I was driving a little each day. One issue I did come against is the Jackery will shut power to ports off if it doesn't sense a load on it after period of time to help conserve battery since the fridge would cycle on and off sometimes the Jackery would shut itself off. Not sure Goal Zero does that or not.

    • @PrimalOutdoors

      It really depends on the area but bears are not an issue where I was at in fact most places in Oregon I have never had a problem with wildlife. I think wildlife is more of a problem in areas where they are use to people camping and leaving food like campgrounds, state parks and National Parks. The only time I did have problems with animals was raccoons in a State Park.

    This is a nice set up. It seems to work well for you. How do you manage moisture buildup while sleeping? Just leave the widows cracked? Which works well in nice weather with no bugs. I’ve slept in cars on many occasions and usually in bad weather and I find moisture buildup to be a huge issue. Just curious to know what you’re doing to combat that. Also, is your mattress custom made or did you pick that up form somewhere?

      That is why Jason is building it out, with tires and more overlanding necessities. To see what it is capable of, not only stock, but customized as well. Let's hope Jason gets a chance to take it out on one of Casey's excursions once it is ready for overlanding.

    Ahh man I was hoping to see some of your photography , well hopefully you'll get that lil' rig set up soon so you can get up to the good stuff. Can't wait to see the kia decked out. Are you going to try and put the tent on top of the car or keep it on the trailer ?

      Hi Ted. I am hoping to start getting out and doing some more photography again soon. I will be keeping the tent on the trailer and will be adding a receiver to the KIA.

    Are you going to review the fridge

  • @airsoftskim

    If you can measure ground clearance at a few spots under the car before and after the wheels/tires/lift, that would be neat! Looking forward to the update videos

    You keep lifting the fridge that way and your back won't like you much. The car looks pretty roomy. Happy camping.

    Cant wait to see the build. Will you lift the vehicle at all or just swap rims and tires?

    • @PrimalOutdoors
      @PrimalOutdoors Před 5 lety

      The plan is to get a lift as well as the new tires

    I think this is fun trial. How well can an off the shelf stock “suv” handle your style of overlanding.... fun for you and maybe(maybe not) good for Kia. We shall see how hard you push it! The negative comments are not worth listening to!

      Yes! It will be fun to see how far that little car can go.

    • @PrimalOutdoors
      @PrimalOutdoors Před 5 lety +2

      Jim, it will be interesting to see but remember the vehicle is getting some mods like better wheels and tires and lift which in my opinion it really does need the stock 8" of clearance is limiting if you try to do anything tougher than standard forest roads.
